Dodge probably didn't like the situation they were in and with no top team, what's the point of staying in the series.

Great, so we get a great looking car from Ford, and probably 2 crap cars from Chevy and Toyota. Might as well leave the cars as-is now. :ouch:

You found NASCAR more boring as of late (sans the 2 road courses), might as well stop watching.

That article interestingly mentions the SRT Viper program being Far cheaper and a more appealing program to Fiat then NASCAR. Of course I'm pretty sure not having a top team as you said was already a bad sign to begin with so I doubt the supposed favoritism was even a factor at all, but I can't argue against what looks to be a far more promising program which already has huge buzz around it.

Dammit Penske.

Well bud, it comes to this: Would you like to see Brad continually win no more then three races while on the only team for a make or would you love to see Brad win abit more with a Manufacterer that has multiple teams? That and if I'm honest, theres some irony in his trademark carrying of the American flag given who currently owns Dodge.

In the eyes of FIAT, it's guaranteed that a LeMans participant is more intriguing to them than NASCAR is.

Brad has as many wins as RFR does. Paul is going to have to rethink all of his strategies next year because the FR9 doesn't get near the MPG of the Dodge engine. But Whatever. I'm going to have to deal with rooting for a Ford team. (Absolutely disgusts me, I really don't want to...Don't like RFR)

But you don't sell many Dodge badged cars in Europe. Motor Sports, for manufacturers, are above all a way to make your brand known, respected and appealing. The FIAT guys may be italian and, as many italians, may think NASCAR is a lesser form of motorsport. But ... nobody is saying they want to enter this series as FIAT. It is DODGE we're talking about and, regardless of who owns it, they need/want to sell Dodge cars.

The way I see it, They think the GT Viper is what they should be promoting, not a NASCAR car. I agree, but then again I'm european and I'm not sure what kind of motorsports is more effective at making cars sell in the USA. In the end, that is the reasoning behind the decision of staying, or leaving, F1, GT, Touring, NASCAR, whatever.

The Viper doesn't have the Dodge name on it. Also I don't think FIAT was the decision maker in this. FIAT is not allowed to touch Chrysler corp's money.

In the USA, in terms of motorsports selling cars, it's NASCAR that will have the largest effect just due to how large scale the coverage of it is compared to other series. The Camry is the #1 selling car here, and I don't think that was the case before Toyota was in NASCAR.

It was because the Taurus (the previous long-term title-holder of best selling car in America) became a steaming pile of crap in the mid-90's.

When 2000 rolled around it started to be. And that was way before NASCAR ran them.

May I ask of what the news from July 10th about the Daytona race has to do with anything?

Brad has as many wins as RFR does.

Maybe I should've worded that better. I meant though wouldn't you rather see him far more often in contention to win more then around 2-3 races a season?

I think you'll definitely see him qualifying better and have slightly faster pace during the race, but the good MPG has allowed Paul to get him in contention even though he didn't have a good pace. A Bad handling Ford is a slow racecar, a bad handling Dodge is a slow racecar, but it gets better fuel mileage.

If Brad does better next year than either this year or last, I'll be happy no matter what.

Its never good when a major manufacturer pulls out of a series.

I am not the biggest Nascar fan (well, as a german I have no chance to watch it), but I like american cars, especially Dodge! Where I live people always think of big badass cars when somebody mentions Dodge. IIRC Dodges are very cheap compared to german cars, but the downside is that mainteance costs are much higher because they are so much rarer.

So, NASCAR told SRT that they have to entire one of their own cars in NASCAR, not one of Dodge's, as SRT is now in charge of Racing for Chrysler. But, SRT has already confirmed that the SRT 'Cuda is on it's way, so it's highly likely that SRT will be entering the 'Cuda into NASCAR once it's released. In the meantime, they have an ALMS team to deal with.

In other news, Toyota released their car a little while ago

I believe those have been seen long ago, silly :p

I was posting them from R1600 who acted like he hadn't seen them yet

Thats because he has, but he HATES them (Seemingly more so then I do the Nationwide Impala ). To me, the Camry is not bad actually. While the SS is mostly camo, the indents for the grille pretty much already give away its looks so not much is being hidden to me and I think I've going to like seeing a Holden in COT trim :D
