Most on here were writing Gordon off before he won.

Carl is 12th in points now, higher than Gordon, Busch or Newman. All he needs is a win. (Since NASCAR doesn't care about consistency anymore)

Heck, it is still possible he could crack the top 10 even without a win and get in.

Thing is, he's got abit more going on then Gordon since he doesn't have his old crew chief. Also, he just doesn't perform at the right time like he needs to. Whereas Gordon has the speed but just needs the luck, Carl just doesn't have the speed or the desireable luck.

Basically.

Kasey Kahne: Needs another win.

Ryan Newman: Needs another win.

Kyle Busch: Needs another win.

Jeff Gordon: He's in.

Marcos Ambrose: Needs another win.

Carl Edwards: Needs a win.

Not really what I said...

Kasey Kahne: He's in with his 2 wins.

Ryan Newman: Needs another win to have a chance.

Kyle Busch: Too inconsistent and is out.

Jeff Gordon: He's in.

Marcos Ambrose: Not a chance.

Carl Edwards: Needs a win or to crack the top 10.

Cliffs Notes: Gordon and Kahne.

In case you didn't notice, Adam said the same thing over two hours ago...

Okay?
He's out. I believe that Gordon can put on a solid run before the chase cutoff, but he won't be able to pick up another win. Kyle Busch is too much competition for Big Daddy to deal with. Despite the fact that he can pick up one more win before the chase, Gordon does not look competitive enough to keep up with Busch.
I'm sure Mr.Hendrick is going to pull out all the stops to see that Gordon makes the Chase. :)

Don't know if you guys heard, but Leffler's out the 18 for the rest of the season.

Kinda saw this coming since:

1. He's not a Cup driver and Dollar General has already proven they have no patience for a non Cup Driver.

2. He's pretty much not really a good driver. 1 win and nothing else, not very sponsorship attractive.

3. It was on the wall when KBM were never able to determine the number of races he would be in and when Brian Scott was in the Truck a few times.

Does KBM or JGR supply the equipment to that #18 truck team? That truck just seems so Joe Gibbish to me. And Jason Leffler is the loser in all this, He's the one I feel bad for. Kyle knows the risk he's taking or he should. Kurt hasn't drove a truck since 2001, was it a smart move on his part? Guess we'll find out soon.

All of KBM's Chassis and Cars/Trucks is in-house and their engines come from TRD. As for the decision to put Kurt in the Truck, Kurt has been pretty good in Kyle's Nationwide equipment so I wouldn't say its a big mistake. I did question putting Kurt in the truck at first given its been a while but I kinda forget that Kurt tends to sometimes outperform the equipment he has for better or worse and Kyle has good Truck equipment (not bad for it being in-house) so I think Kurt will give it a good run (provided nothing goes wrong).

Did Joe Gibbs sell the #18 to Kyle?

If I recall, Gibbs has never had a Truck Program (correct if I'm wrong)so I don't think so.

Well I guess it was rather generous of Joe to let Kyle use that famed font style for the #18 we've all come to know and love.

Its a font, its not like it costs millions of dollars

Jason had plently of chances to land top rides with both Braun, then Turner got him from the buyout which they knew he wasn't what they wanted so KBM picked him up hoping he could do something more than he has (Yes he was ok in points, but overall not making a huge place in the series). It makes perfect since to put Kurt in the truck (remember Kyle won't be in it based on last season stuff), to look at what they can improve and bring some attention back to that camp. You have to think both brothers are very hard on parts, and who else to test it but those two guys when they have a stake in the company.

Let's make sure we get the right TRD though lol! It's not the Cup TRD, but Triad Racing Development which does mainly NNS/Trucks from my understanding along with other series that run Toyota (I'm sure they build other makes too).

Kurt will push it for sure, and if something isn't right he will find that weak spot. It's really a win/win because they will run strong or find what needs to be worked on.

Kyle was only in his truck last season to get it to where it needed to be performance wise. It's at that point now and with him starting the NNS team, he decided it was time to work on that ride instead.

I keep forgetting about Triad Racing Development

Kinda hard to remember that when they're both abbreviated as TRD.

Don't feel bad, I was confused for good while. I have to remind myself alot.

Holy crap guys. As if the odd connecton with TruTv and NASCAR (via the simucast) wasn't strange enough, get ready for this: Austin Dillon will be on a new episode of a show called "Lizard Lick Towing". Not as some guest, but as the person who's actually getting his car repo'd:sick:

They were talking about it on another forum I visit. Too bad the whole show is staged and just plain dumb. Lizard Lick has already been in NASCAR as official starters which was a joke.

It looks like a good episode based in commercials. Can't wait to see how Austin reacts.

Wait, the entire show(including the crazy people who try to kill the crew) is staged? Seriously?

All those repo shows are. That said, I still enjoy watching it from time to time.

Didn't know that. I really only see the commercials so I didn't know. Well damn, that instantly kills whatever excitment I get when I look at the commercials and think "Oh, they are so 🤬"

What's the difference between the two? Triad Racing Development and Toyota Racing Development?

Toyota Racing Development is the one providing engines for the Cup cars (and Nationwide cars I think) while Triad Racing Development builds engines for the Trucks.

NASCAR really needs to stop associating itself with the "redneck" culture if they are ever going to change their public image for the better in my opinion. :yuck: I've only seen the commercials which is enough for me; those 🤬 have the second most god-awful Southern drawls my ears have ever had the displeasure of hearing. :grumpy:

Yup, and most shows like it use actors. Pawn Stars uses actors as experts too.

Toyota is owned by Toyota, and produces their parts for range of teams in different series but also offer performance parts for vehicles. Triad is just an engine builder for smaller series and teams.

I'm ok with country folk but the rednecks kill me. I got personally attacked because I didn't think they were a good sponsor for a big nationwide/truck team when someone brought it up tonight. They used the whole Ron (owner) is a minister argument but yet he is ok with the scam of a show and what takes place in it.

The show is based on somewhat real events but more dramatic for TV.
