Nascar AI

^You're getting way too defensive, and subsequently offensive, and you seem to be the first person in this thread with an "attitude." His argument is quite respected and founded, and his first line was simply advice. I don't think the development time was justified, especially since Kaz was having everyone believe that if it was in the game, it was going to be perfect/the best available/justified by however long it takes. As for AI, weather, night, damage, and car customizing/tuning, course maker, it's simply not, and in some cases has even gone backwards (no gear ratios, no wheel swaps, longer load times, etc.).

Nobody is saying this game isn't fun, but some of these "few flaws" are absolutely infuriating, and quite the gamebreaker, such as no confirmation on restarts, getting pitted on the last lap, not being able to recover because the computer is at FULL THROTTLE going into your door, headlights being as useful as an LED keychain, being glued to a car if you rear-end it, cars acting like they weigh 4x as much as yours, etc.

There's quite a bit of this game that needs to be fixed to be fun. I could enjoy NASCAR's close-packed races and strategic drafting if the rest of the pack recognized me as well as they recognize each other.

You're very easily infuriated. I'd advise for some anger management help.

The computer doesn't go full throttle into your door. You're the one that goes full throttle into it's line. Guess what, in real racing it's a black flag offense. I always have fun when i read people blaming their own mistakes to external causes.
I wonder how I and many others manage quite easily to avoid "the computer going full throttle into our door"... are we gods of racing? Or maybe we simply don't play a simulator like it was Need for Speed.

If you don't think the development time is justified, then you simply know nothing about game development. But do go ahead and prove your point, I can't wait to see what kind of racing game you can produce.

No - you are just that what is called a "Fanboy" - defending things that are messed up by PD. And just because a.) you do not want to acknowledge that ore b.) you are just not intelligent enough to recognise this flaws you go on insulting people who do...

Unfortunately for your flawed point, knowing quite well the problems and timings of game development doesn't necessarily make one a "fanboy". On the other hands, you quite obviously aren't aware of any of that. You do seem to enjoy being judgemental, though. Which, given the absolute lack of experience and information, is quite jarring to see.

No you don't get it - you are the one that does not know anything about the problems and timings of game development.
And YOU are the one who keeps defending things that are just FLAWS of the game and nothing more - and exactly that makes you a "fanboy".

And if you love this game sooo much why do you spend so much time on the forum keeping defending it??

There's no doubt that the Ai in gt5 could be improved but is also nowhere near as bad as people make out. Iv seen some pretty smart behaviour at time but then iv also seen some proper stupid antics as well(just do a b-spec race at monaco).

The thing is, what racing game does have good AI. Only recent racing games iv played on ps3 is grid and F1 2010 and they basically have AI that jumps out your way. At times in F1 the cars look like they move side-a-ways to avoid my car, id consider none of these games to have good AI.

I kind of like the fact that in GT5 if i try to outbreak a car from 3-4 car lengths behind that he turns into me because quite frankly if you tried that in real racing the same thing would happen, however if i get fully alongside the AI into the breaking zones they give me a cars width to play with and try to go round the outside, just like real racing.

Iv said it before but try racing the computer cars like a racing driver employing some racecraft and picking you overtakes at the right moment and you might just enjoy racing them a little more.......or carry on playing the game like you own the road

At the risk of getting dragged into your jello wrestling may I make a point? As someone who has watched NASCAR since Dale drove for Wrangler it has been my observation that there are all kinds of drivers in the sport. Mr. Earnhardt was known to be, shall we say a little aggressive on Daytona. As is Tony Stewart. Don't even get me started on Kowalski! He has caused more damage in a few short years than most drivers do in a career. My point? Maybe, just maybe it is realistic. There is a reason that people wait for "the big one" at places like Daytona, because even the guys who get paid the big bucks and risk a visit to the hospital crash regularly on the track. Need I remind you that Dale Earnhardt died at this track due to being pitted (unintentionally by Wallace I think) on turn 3?

Funny(?) thing of GT5 it's that you can get fishtailed, but you can NOT do a fishtail manover to an I.A. 'cause they have allways the "ESP"/spin-recovery-assist turned on...

It is frustrating some times when you're taken out but they haven't done a too badder job. Forza Motorsport is the same. You just have to be careful and use you peripheral vision, just like in real racing.

It was Sterling Marlin, and Earnhardt Sr was trying to to block but was a few inches too late...

If this is a "flaw with some game in it", then I'm sure you think you're able to do better. Prove it, then talk. Otherwise you're just full of hot air, just like your GTplanet account that you create just to come here everyday to spew some more hate. I'll give you a hint, that's called trolling.

Transformers 2 was a horrible movie, yet I cannot criticize it because I am not a filmmaker or a director.

This defense never makes sense.
