NASCAR fanboys like to think of me as hating NASCAR, but I don't. It's the fans that I hate, and the Montoya-jet-dryer jokes are a great illustration for why that is. They're stupid. I can't even guess at how many times I encountered NASCAR fans ridiculing JPM for hitting the dryer as though it was a retarded move on his part, when it was clearly a mechanical failure and this was mentioned by the commentators no fewer than 1.3 million times during a broadcast that these alleged fans were evidently sleeping through. Montoya-jet-dryer jokes might be funny if he ended up running into it via his own stupidity, but it was really the result of something entirely out of his control. Any driver on the track could have ended up in the dryer had their cars suddenly suffered the same failure at the same moment, but it just happened to happen to JPM instead of Stewart, Gordon, Johnson, et cetera.
