It's possible you could complete an entire lap with little or no brake (or even at full throttle), but my problem has been finding a consistent line to use in going around Indy. I sometimes can't hook on the very inside, so I have to go middle and high into the corners while making sure not to tag the outside wall.

No brake at Indy in a stock car? If that's possible the game is horribly unrealistic. Look at any pit stop at Indy and the amount of brake dust coming off the wheels is huge.

Guys.. I just played GT5 DEMO in Best Buy. I took all of the assists off, and put racing 1 tires on the stock car. I know for sure that I had to hit the brake every corner. The speed was nearly realistic as well..

Perhaps whoever said you didn't need to brake had R3 tires... 💡

I don't know how accurate these physics are, but the car handled TOO good. It was nearly impossible to spin. WAY TOO STABLE...

We will just have to just hold any judgement until we get to customize our races and race together online.

Well, I was using R2 tires (meaning I was on Intermediate difficulty in Arcade Mode). I actually did two races at Indy with the demo. I think the Kyle Busch car spun me out in the first race (imagine that). Then in the second race, I spanked everybody and went all the way down into Turn 4 on the final lap before the demo timed out. It was that kind of domination especially in the second race.

I even remember playing "NASCAR 07" around Indy. I couldn't get my car to hook on the inside of the corners. That is even granted there are so many more cars on the track at once in that game. I just somehow can't race a consistent line in the corners at Indy. On a good line, I can ride two sets of corners with little or no braking. Then later, I overshoot my braking point and end up having to re-adjust my line just to prevent my car from kissing the outside wall. It is just an unusual track for me.

Drive Indy as you would a road course because it hardly has any banking. Easy in, hard off. Turn in rather early and keep the car down. If you wash up, its game over since there's no banking to catch the car.

As I noted in my primary blog, I often call Indy's oval as the world's fastest road course. Each of the four corners are more like road racing corners than traditional oval corners. And yeah... very little banking. If your car walks up the race track in the corners, your car's going to eat the outside wall. No form of racing is ever easy. It's tracks like Indy and Daytona that show that oval racing isn't easy (though many think it is). It will be NASCAR in GT5 to showcase that racing these 3400 lb. stock cars is no cakewalk. Doubters will certainly learn the hard way when GT5 is released.

In most NASCAR races there is generally not very much braking. In most cases the cars merely slow down for the banked corners, rather than applying brake. On the Indy course, if you hit the right apex, you won't need to brake. At worst you'll need to let off the gas.

Dude, you are very wrong. They use the brake A LOT. Maybe you are talking about open wheel?

Watch when he goes in to turn 3

Look for the braking..going from 207 to 165....He HAS TO BRAKE!

Lol yeah...as was said there is heavy use of the brakes at every track but Daytona and Talladega. 3400lb cars do not like to change direction at 200 mph+. Take a look at pit stops on any track except for the two mentioned and you'll notice the huge amount of brake dust that comes out of the front wheels. Actually, "brake steer" is used to get the car to turn into the corner.

According to what Amar212 has told us, the physics with all assists off give us the professional physics feel between GT TT and GT5P. We will have to play around to make it as real as possible.
Which wheel is he using?

It's a lot different with the wheel than the DS3. I played the Demo at the BEST BUY in Manassas Va, I really didn't that much of a hard time spinning the cars if I pushed real hard. The setup for the demos where to good I say. Though pending on the track they're fairly easy to spin.

I see video of a Miata getting sideways in every turn, and you guys think JPM's car will be hard to spin?

Nascar seems cool to add to gt. I am not a close fan of nascar, I like all sports and see some nascar on espn and know about a reasonable amount of drivers. With nascar on gt I feel somewhat excited and I may watch nascar more now! I am excited to test out some of the stock cars

Well that's not too promising if a Miata is getting sideways in every turn...

I've drove a Spec Miata at Laguna Seca and it understeers like crazy near the limits and doesn't have near enough power to induce oversteer.

The High Speed ring and of course the Test Track will be nice places to barrel these beasts around. My true fantasy, is taking them to the Top Gear test track. If that was done on TV it would be "Coming through the follow through and... oh no there goes the camera man due to turbulence :O"

OK so he used the G25 but not the Driving Force GT. I'll wait until I get my copy and judge for myself. I found that people who use the G wheel rather than the Force wheel get a much different feel.

Is it me or does the track used in the NASCAR segment of the Butler ad look too dark to be Daytona? Looks like fresh or couple of year old asphalt? We have seen gsmeolay on Daytona and PD is not using the "new" Daytona. What if it's Talladega!

If anyone watched the Final Homestead Race , I fail to see how you cannot be Excited .

I've watched every Race for the Last 5 Years via a Friend who sends the Whole Races to me .

This last Race was aboslutley amazing and Having Nascar in the GT Series is a Huge Plus for me . I can't wait to try and Drive one of them Cars at Daytona and other Tracks

As too the Drivers in Nascar there very Skilled and Very Well Paid and they do deserve to be its a Fantastic Motor Sport

I'm gutted now that i'll have to wait till Feb 2011 for the Start of the Next Season to watch the Racing again, in the Meantime i'll be have fun playing GT5 👍

I think somebody forgot to tell Kaz about restrictor plates. Theres a video of a guy going around Daytona at 370 KPH which rounds out to 230MPH. Still, 230 is better than 195 right?

I'm however very much looking forward to the nascar racing.
Yeah I've seen videos of it and it looks awesome, can't wait to try it. Just playing NASCAR alone will keep me occupied for a long time, provided that the racing is going to be close with the AI. Pit stops look pretty good too.

When are you going to unlock the site?

Most likely after after the SCANA qualifier. Its a complex task to align the pages, I don't think I will have it done anytime soon. :)

For now, everyone sees the same thing.

Watch for updates. 👍

I'm pretty sure a real unrestricted NASCAR would be that fast on super speedways.

Still, a restrictor shouldn't be too difficult to implement.

I think it would be fun as hell to race Daytona without the restrictor plate. Anyone with me?

I am. Speed restrictions mean that oval races are going to collect a lot of other (faster) cars and it's not going to look much like NASCAR.

I'll confess that I'm not a big fan of ovals, but I would like to see how unrestricted NASCAR vehicles stand up to the Aussie V8 supercars on road courses. (pretty sure the Falcon is in game) If I recall there are a couple road courses in the NASCAR season, so they can obviously turn right when they need too as well.

And yes, I'll probably be trying out my Cartman impression in the mic, so sorry in advance.

The Aussie V8s should be much better than the Cup cars on the road. The Cup cars, especially the “COT”, is bigger and heavier than the Supercars and have a higher center of gravity. As much as I love all things Nascar from the modified series to the old Busch East and West… The Camping World Truck Series, The Nationwide Series and the Cup Series… the cars just aren’t made to be on a Road or Street course. When they are, it’s more of forced thing that produces good racing because everyone else is fighting the same problems, but put them against something that was built to turn left and right and it’s no contest.

It would be like taking a Big Rolex Daytona Prototype and putting it up against an Audi R15 Plus or a Peugot 908 HDi… As much I think the Rolex Series is great, the car just couldn’t compete.
