No idea, but that car has gone to hell. Its nowhere as good as it was before.

Just to say quickly, I accidentally typed "Denny Hamlin" when I meant Brian Vickers. My most sincere apologies. I edited my post from earlier to reflect this.

Warning, Spoiler for those who haven't watched the race:

Kyle Busch won the race after a crazy restart and red flag.

Good showing by Phoenix Racing with Newman behind the wheel. 2nd place is definitely something this team needed.

According to ESPNEWS, Brian Vickers can miss at least three weeks with his blood clot issues. Like Brian Vickers or not, you have to feel for him. My best wishes are with him.

I'm wondering what has caused these problems to him. From what I've heard, He has them both in his legs and heart. It is probably best for him to stay out of the car for abit as I can't imagine doing all that driving while having clots in you heart of all places. Hope he gets better.

I heard on NASCAR Now that he would be out 3-6 months and may put his career in jeopardy.

This. 👍

Get well soon Brian!

Hopefully he get's better and only has to sit out the rest of the season at the worst. If he is forced to retire it will be tough for Red Bull to replace him as there doesn't seem to be a whole lot free agent wise and Mears isn't the greatest driver ever.

For anyone interested, I have an offline NR2003 series up here.

They made it official that Vickers will miss the rest of the season. No word if Mears will be in the seat for that time.

It also sounds like RCR is about done with the extension for Harvick.

The next stage for Brian Vickers is just recovery and treatment as well as hope he'll return to form when he's better.

Since Speed Channel has been hyping up this year's All-Star race since last year (exaggeration), does anyone have any early picks to win the big money at the All-Star Race this weekend?

Fixed for true exaggeration :D

I can't help but feel that this is the most pointless race ever. I mean, whats all-star about it? If it was a race with nothing but Cup champions, Nationwide Champions and Truck champions, then all-star would actually have meaning to it. Now sure, its been called the Open when Winston and Nextel had the series, but to call it an "All-Star Race" is just a major joke. And for how much? $1,000,000. Yeah, thats really encouraging, especially knowing it'll never go to a small team like Phoenix Racing or Tommy Baldwin, but to the Super teams like Hendrick. Only time I actually found the race enjoyable was when Kasey got voted into the race and ended up winning it because at the time, GEM was not a team that was competitive to keep up with hendrick on a weekly basis.

SPEED always exaggerates their medicore NASCAR coverage. :sly:

How do you not consider it an all star race when you have race winners and champions racing against each other? Although I don't like the rule they have of past all-star race winners from the past 10 years being able to compete. IMO in order to be considered an all-star you should be able to win on a consistent basis.

But I like your idea of opening it up to Nationwide and Truck series champions/race winners. 👍

ANYONE is better than Scott Speed

Even Milka Duno? :sly:

Thank god Speed has mentioned "NASCAR Day" 1,000 times or I may have forgotten about it.

Although no matter how many times they say it, it can't make me give a damn about it.

That's a very cool idea- a true open of NASCAR's best from the top three series. I don't care even if you make it like sportscar racing where you have various machines on the track at once. Even then, I still think (if we're talking using the machines you race with), a Cup car would still win over a Nationwide car or a NASCAR Truck. But yeah, I like that idea of opening the All-Star Race to also include Nationwide and Truck stars. I'd certainly want to see fellow Houstonian David Starr take the fight against the others in Nationwide and Cup.

Oh, and if I have to pick someone to win the All-Star Race, my short list is Tony Stewart or Kyle Busch.

So basically you guys want the IROC series back?

I'd like a true "All-star" race for Nascar's best, not the same old, overhyped crap with the top 35 in points teams we get every year.

While I'm at it, I still despise that top 35 Owners points BS. Just let people qualify without that unnecessary pressure.

Last I checked there are only going to be 21 drivers at most in the race.

Only having 6 cars on the track would get really boring.

Plus, how would you decide who is an all-star?

I really don't know what you are complaining about, both the Showdown and All-Star race put on a good race every year.

My complaint is its overhyped as an "All-Star" race and there is hardly enough drivers that are "all-star". Like I said, the Champions from each of the series would be the "all-stars", giving that name more meaning and actually, there would be more then 6 cars Because you have champions from all three series which include all these active drivers:

*= Champion of two series

Craftsman Truck Series/Camping World Truck Series:
Mike Skinner
Ron Hornaday Jr
Todd Bodine
Johnny Benson*
Greg Biffle*
Travis Kvapil
Mike Bliss

Busch Series/Nationwide Series
Brian Vickers
Kevin Harvick
Jeff Green
Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
David Green
Joe Nemechek
Bobby Labonte
Carl Edwards*
Kyle Busch
Martin Truex Jr

Winston Cup/Nextel Cup/Sprint Cup Series
Jeff Gordon
Tony Stewart
Jimmie Johnson
Matt Kenseth
Kurt Busch

And in total, thats 22, not 6 as you pointed out so thats enough cars for a race without being boring.

So if someone wins the batting title in AAA and AA they should automatically be in the MLB all-Star game?

Of that list, I see 11 that are actually in contention of winning on a constant basis(Although there are 2 or 3 I almost made a line through). There are only 3 non-Cup drivers, not sure what you are expecting them to drive, unless you are thinking a spec racer IROC style.

Since I don't watch stick & ball sports, I have no idea what you are talking about. I just question having an "All-Star race" when there is not many of them(depending on how you define "all-star" I guess) in that field. Obviously my definition of in All-Star when it comes to racing is champion plain and simple. Its probably biast and unfair to some which I in no way intend to be, but to me All-Star in Nascar should refer to the ones who've managed to claim that championship.

Can't the same be said every year? As far as the car is concerned, I never thought much about it but now that you bring it up, I say either let them run the Old car since they also do thar for the burnout contest or maybe bring a new generation IROC car.

What an awesome series.

That would be awesome.

I think we might potentially have a new meme with this

 More IROC talk. I'd love that! I even thought about it last night. 4 races, any of the major touring series, equally prepared COT's. Let 'em go for a multi-series all-star championship.

Looked at SPEED's schedule for this weekend ,and the only thing that wasn't NASCAR related was the Moto GP race. :grumpy:
