You would think that given their ages, David West would be the first to go before Hibbert.
Which one has the more ridiculous contract? I think that's the reason sadly.

The Los Angeles Clippers have officially been sold to Steve Ballmer for $2B USD. Donald Sterling, though, is reportedly appealing the sale. This guy just won't go away. He's almost like an ex-lover who constantly wants to meddle with you and constantly wants to annoy you. Yeesh...

So they'll release the 2014-15 schedule tomorrow. There's rumors that lebron's return to Miami will be on Christmas. That would be something to watch.

The Christmas day matchups are always created to maximize ratings.

I thought this was a bad joke:

Report: Paul George changes jersey number, becomes 'PG-13'

"Before his tramatic compound leg fracture injury in the Team USA scrimage earlier this month, Indiana Pacers forward Paul George applied for a jersey number change to No.13.

George applied for and was granted the right to switch from No. 24 to No. 13, sources told ESPN.com.Because George applied for the change before the March deadline, he doesn't have to pay for the remaining old No. 24s on the market. Sources, however, said he still elected to do so. link"

Talk about timing.

At the top of the hour, the NBA will have its schedule released for the 2014-2015 season. Going to have to wonder all the different specific dates and such to define this season.

So, Shawn Marion is set to join the Cavaliers. I'm sad to see one of our best defensive men go, but he did say a couple years ago when he was rumored to be traded, that he wouldn't play for any team that was not in immediate contention for a Championship. And of course, that's where the Cavs are. I think he still has that chance with us & would continue to be a good attribute, but I've heard that we can't offer him the money he'd like.

Sad, but not all that sad; he will forever be respected by Dallas fans for being part of our 1st Championship & being a big factor against LeBron.

Marion really adds depth in Cleveland, they went from probably really good to definitely a team to watch out for with that signing.

Dick Bavetta retires today after 39 years officiating in the NBA. Like him or loathe him, you have to hand respect to Mr. Bavetta for his long tenure refereeing games. I wish him well in his retirement. I learned this news on Twitter. And according to one bit of information I read, he refereed 2,635 games without missing a single one. Quite the Iron Man.

He was good. Joey Crawford, on the other hand...

I read Kevin Love got traded from Minnesota to Cleveland. You might as well take Cleveland as if anything below at least Eastern Conference Champions would be a lost cause of a season. Cleveland is going to be a tough ticket. So you got K-Love and LeBron for the Cavs. Here is a piece from Yahoo! Sports:

Elsewhere, G/F Francisco Garcia signed a one-year deal to stay with my Rockets. He's a very good player, so I'm pleased we're keeping him.

It makes the Cavs pretty exciting, arguably better than the Heat were too, both in terms of starting line-up and bench depth. Allow me to elaborate.
Irving > Old man Wade
Waiters > Chalmers
James = James
Love > Bosh
Varejao > Haslem

Dellavedova = Cole
Miller < Allen
Marion > .....Beasley/Jones
Thompson/Haywood combo equal or greater than Birdman

I'm excited to see the Wolves play too, who got a better haul than I thought they would, getting to keep Bennet as well as acquire Thad Young.

I can't agree with Mike Miller over Ray Allen. Allen's whole career was just as much a role player as Miller for his career prior to the Heat. His fame now-a-days revolves around that clutch 3, but like Fisher, it doesn' skyrocket his skills as a player. Allen hit a big 3 for Miami to save them. Miller (& Battier) helped keep Miami in the OKC Finals because OKC refused to play defense and allow Miller/Battier into 3 point position repeatedly. Without them, the series would have been a lot closer.

Do you mean you can't agree with Allen over Miller or am I reading this wrong? Currently I have Allen as being greater than Miller.

I think I like Miller over Allen, too. Miller's health is the downside though, right?(bigger, between the two) I think I read that he had a healthy season last year, and these guys won't have very long streak of those, so..... :D Miller or Allen, I'd play them limited minutes until May!

Miller can box out and rebound. Allen is good for a dagger, but if he's cold he's useless.

Nevermind the (minor) age difference between the two is a huge advantage, as well as Miller's ability to play (and guard) SF.

Also, Jones=Jones.

My fellow Australians (@Stavingo, @Spacegoat, @Jay and any others who may be hovering around), I read in passing about this kid a couple months ago and never really looked in to it much until I saw this article on Bleacher Report today:

Thon Maker, Sudanese born and raised in Australia, is being considered as potentially a whole new lethal breed of 7-footer, and yes, he is keen to play for the Boomers one day. Let's hope he fills that potential meter. In the mean time, we'll keep our eyes and ears open for him.:)
You know it makes sense, I'm Sam Kekovich!

That guy Thon's legs are skinnier than his arms. Not good.

When he gains weight in order to hang with NBA players, he's going to tear an ACL. He exhibits terrible valgus knee collapse. One wrong move and he's done. Ditto for landing wrong and breaking a leg like Paul George. Big men need thicker bones.

I sure hope not! It's possible that at just 17yrs old and being as tall as he is, he's still filling out anyway. They were saying he didn't want to make the leap to the pros until they were confident his body was ready, which is a good attitude to have.
Edit: If he can make the quantam leap and change the prototype of a 7-footer he may not need too much extra mass anyway. Putting on large amounts of weight will just slow him down, but a centre that can play like a guard will cause epic headaches for a defence. I'm thinking Chris Bosh 3.0.

Chris Bosh does that stupid valgus knee jumpshot too. Look at him now. He wear two braces and can hardly run down the court. He has this floppy stride compared to, say, Lebron, who powers down the court with perfect knee mechanics.

My point is... he's probably not going to get much heavier. I wouldn't advise that for him. But he's going to get eaten up in the post unless he can figure out leverages and use his length to his advantage. That is going to put a TON of stress on his knees unless he trains hip mobility and flexibility well enough. He needs to be able to get small without putting too much torque through his knees while they're in a compromised position.

Remember RG3? This is how the man has jumped his whole life:

Look at those knees. He's been putting world-class-athlete levels of force through those knees in that pattern of motion for years. And now he's not even 25 and his knees are completely shot.

I hope NBA teams are watching Australian games at FIBA, Baynes (who I understand is yet to sign/re-sign anywhere) is playing like a monster out there. He schooled Jonas Valanciunas the other day. It'd be cool to see other Aussies in the NBA, Joe Ingles has always been pretty good and could easily play in the NBA, and Broekhoff has shown he's a pretty good 3pt shooter.
When NBA 2K15 comes out I'm going to build a team with all the Aussies on it and fill in the gaps with any other players I like or find interesting.

I've been surprised by the Dragic brother's performances in FIBA. Clearly Goran is better, but Zoran is showing that he's at least NBA ready..

Also, for some reason, I put complete trust in this man's ability to run my team.

EDIT: Apparently, the Lakers are planning on signing Dragic and Bledsoe next summer... how much more of the Suns can they steal?

Zoran Dragic has been playing at an NBA level for sure, there are probably a number of international guys who should be in the NBA and a number of NBA guys who shouldn't.
