The Cavaliers have signed Irving to a 5yr max deal, and why wouldn't he return with Wiggins now on board? I hope they make the playoffs this year, for Dellavedova's sake as well.:)
IF Lebron does leave the Heat, and I still don't see it happening, he should go back to Cleveland I think.

Brooklyn gets two 2nd round picks as former coach and current scumbag Jason Kidd becomes head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks.
I have no problem with Kidd wanting a another job but I really don't like the way he went about it. If he didn't want to coach to the Nets anymore he should just quit and wait for the Bucks to fire Larry Drew.

Actually I prefer it this way because we get something off of him. Still, he has no loyalty to any team for his entire career I believe. At least since he was in Phoenix in the late 90s. Spurned the Nets twice, the Mavs and the Knicks.

Yeah he has a history of doing things like that. I guess what makes it so bad is that the ownership hired him when the GM wanted to hire Lionel Hollins. They could have fired him when he was 10-21 but they let him keep his job. Reportedly he tried to get the GM behind Billy King's back. While I don't King is great or even good GM that is kind of dirty. But again like I said earlier be careful what you ask for because you just might get it.

I saw the Seth Curry is on the Suns summer league roster.
Their obsession with lesser brothers will never die.

NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...... *deep breath* OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Mills is set to be out at least the rest of all this year after a should surgery. That means no FIBA World Cup and no telling if he'll be able to shoot half as good when he returns.
Also, when and where are teams announcing Summer League rosters? I see occasionally players mentioned as joining squads but still haven't seen a single roster.

I just read about this. Damn shame. You know I've been a skeptic of his game for a long time, but he really seemed to be coming together this year. I just read that he was a FA, too. This really sucks, but the glass-half full me says that he did accomplish his biggest goal: NBA Championship

He actually played a role in it, took down a beast of a team earning it.

I wish him a speedy recovery, and I hope he comes back strong. 👍

Edit: That didn't take long.

Reports: Former Trail Blazers guard Patty Mills re-signs with San Antonio Spurs

"Less than 24 hours after news broke about NBA guard Patty Mills having a torn rotator cuff, the San Antonio Spurs and Mills agreed to a three-year deal reportedly worth $12 million.

Buck Harvey of the San Antonio Express-News reported the contract length first. Marc Stein of ESPN reported the value.

As noted yesterday, Mills displayed a confidence and sharp-shooting touch in the Finals, traits that made him a coveted free agent. He appeared in 81 games for the Spurs in the regular season, averaging 10.2 points on 46 percent shooting, including 42 percent from the 3-point line."

I'm glad he was able to sign such a decent contract, and that the Spurs are showing that faith in him so soon after this injury. There was a rumour the Knicks wanted to make Mills a starter before that injury was announced, which even with my rose coloured glasses sounds a little over the top to me.
Otherwise....

Kyle Lowry has signed with the Raptors, so glad they were able to retain him. The Raptors are probably going to go a little back this year due to the rest of the conference getting stronger and them staying more or less the same, however next season's free agency could be where they build something special. A starting unit of Lowry, DeRozan, Ross, K.Love and Valanciunas would be unbelieveable.

Summer League games have started apparently. NBA TV is showing some coverage of the Summer League match between the Detroit Pistons and Houston Rockets. This will be a chance to see how the young talent will try to mold themselves and get ready for the regular season.

I am reading that Carmelo Anthony will re-sign with the Knicks. This new deal is reportedly about $129M USD and (I think) 5 years. So 'Melo likes playing for the Knicks.
My Rockets lost to Detroit in their Summer League match (forgot the score). However, the talk of the game was the wicked one-hand dunk Houston's Nick Johnson put on Detroit. Nick Johnson was the Pac-12 Player of the Year out of Arizona. I like this guy. I just hope he can keep hustling and playing hard when the regular season begins.

[UPDATE] Some other report I picked up notes that the Los Angeles Lakers may pick up Carmelo Anthony. You could say this is the dream glamourous city battle- would you rather play for the Knicks or the Lakers? New York vs. Los Angeles. Got to love it...

Summer League day 1 was certainly interesting. It's easy to read in to bad performances too much (Napier, Smart) so I'll just focus on some of the better ones. Nerlens Noel looked good for the 76'ers after his year out, scoring 19pts and being very disruptive on defence, Philly fans have to be encouraged by it (although there will come a point they have to choose between Noel and Embiid health permitting). James Ennis had a steady game for the Heat, even though the commentators had no idea what the Perth Wildcats were or indeed even what our national league was called (it's NBL, not ABL you stooges!). He finished with 18pts, 8reb and 3stl.
The biggest shame though was seeing Pierre Jackson go down with a ruptured Achilles. The D-League standout deserved an NBA spot and more than likely would have earned one with Philly but now figures to be out injured for a long time.:indiff:

In other news you guys don't care about, Raptors traded Novak in a cap clearing move to the Jazz for a non-guaranteed contract. Hopefully that gives them the space to push for Vince Carter, and it gives Exum a solid assist target on the perimeter.:)

Melo needs to just go with the Bulls.

The Knicks are in rebuild mode, there's no championship there. Lakers? Ha, same thing. Because you honestly think Kobe & Melo's $48.5 million combined contract won't have the same effect it already had? It's already reported with just 4 players guaranteed for next season, they are already close to over the cap. And we already saw what happened when the team looked stack with Howard/Nash/Kobe; zero chemistry. You think 2 ball chuckers will have chemistry?

Let's try and guess who takes those last game-winning shots between the 2.

Yeah, Melo on the Bulls would make a lot of sense, personnel wise. He can play SF with Boozer and Noah, or move to PF if/when they go small.

If Chicago gets Melo they're going to totally own the boards. Rebounding against them? Yeah right.

For any Aussie fans (looking at you @Spacegoat and @Stavingo) we now have 6 players in the upcoming Summer League in Vegas next week. Here they are and what teams they're on:
Cameron Bairstow (Bulls): Drafted in 2nd round by Bulls, homeless man's Dirk Nowitski.
Chris Goulding (Mavericks): Shooting guard you may know from Melbourne Tigers for scoring 50pts in a 40min game and leading the NBL in scoring this season. Has a metro haircut though.
Brock Motum (Jazz): Athletic forward who had a strong showing in our recent exhibition games against China.
Dante Exum (Jazz): If this needs explaining I'll have to e-slap you.
Jordan Vandenberg (Knicks): A 7'1 centre who probably has no game except for his size, honestly I'd never heard of him until today.
Matty Dellavedova (Cavaliers): Will probably start in place of the injured Mills at FIBA but he's come a long way, good kid.

I intend to watch each and every one of their game on League Pass/NBA TV/NBA Game Time/what ever the hell they're calling it now .

Aren't the Bulls exercising their amnesty on Boozer, though?

Pretty sure they are, pretty sure Taj Gibson was told like a month ago he'd be a starter next season too. Bulls tried very hard to offload Boozer in a trade, but sounds like they are ultimately going to just amnesty him.

Rumors floating now that Bosh will be signed by the Houston Rockets.

AND

Cleveland Cavaliers will be looking to clear space to sign Lebron to a max deal. Is this the end for Miami or just the Big 3 pushing the team to do something?

Possibly the end since they all want max. contracts & only Miami will give crippled Wade what he wants.

So if Anthony burns the Knicks and goes to Miami for 3 years 45 million and James resigns at max value does that change the league fabric again?

wish we didn't sign Eric Gordon to such a huge contract :(

It seemed like such a good idea to match the Suns offer at the time too. It wouldn't be as annoying if the guy could actually stay on the court but he seems to go down injured every time there's a slight breeze.

Along with Tyreke making matters worse, the guy balled outta his friggin mind when he was given a starting nod towards the end of the season.

I thought it was cool the Pelicans acquired Omer Asik, he'll make an interesting front court with Davis.👍 It's a shame they're otherwise stuck with their salary situation. Being so young though, they're poised to make some noise in a year or two.👍

I think timing will be good when EG's contract comes off the books, hopefully there will be an FA we can pick up.

Either that or we trade it

Mavs got Chandler Parsons. Mavs are gonna be good again.

There has been reports of moving trucks outside Lebrons home.
