What if you have more than 5 favourite cars? That's the kicker. Having to remove one of your favourite cars for another favourite car equates to that of a punch to the D.

Yeah like I said it will be sad but at least it will keep things fresh. If we owned every car in the game there would be nothing left to do except swap bumpers/wheels which would get boring. Having only 5 cars will mean a lot of buying/selling when we can afford it so each build will be a new experience and it will feel like a new purchase. The devs have said we will be lucky to have 5 so it will be more like what car or what 2 cars do we want rather than pick 5.

Multiple accounts mean enjoying multiple garages and the (hopefully good) story. I'm really hoping we will have a mode to modify any car to our liking and save them though.

@TiZzla: We have very different definitions of what a sense of ownership is. To me, a sense of ownership is taking a car, customizing it how I want, making it different from everyone else's and making it mine. Not being forced to own a limited quantity of cars to form an "attachment" to them. Furthermore, what if I wind up selling one of my cars to buy another, and then it winds up not being what I expected? Then what? If being able to own as many cars as you want to build is boring to you, that's fine. But having that much freedom to experiment would actually extend the game's life for some of us.

Then you sell that and go buy back what you owned before hand and start again. Really some of the questions posed when games have things people don't like are a bit out there. You pose the question like there's no turning back. Or as to say "well what about this @TiZzla , eh smart guy, what now?" As if the the solution isn't as simple as the problem. This isn't to say that this is what you intended to do but how it comes across to me, I mean I really don't see an issue in having five cars I like and then growing tired of one and trying something new.

I mean it's the same trite as other games, "ah I can't own this" or "they took out my favorite car" as if people really intend to drive each car with an equal amount of time and thus validating the only true reason to own each car, other than just out right gotta catch 'em all behavior. But then again I'm one of those owners that buys a handful of cars that I always wanted and uses them and the rest just sit there collecting virtual dust (if we talk in respect to GT and FM). Five seems like plenty of options to me.

Every car will be available to us whenever we want provided we have enough money to buy them so what difference does it make if we own them all or not? You can't drive them all at once so if you want to try a new car sell the one you use the least and then buy a new one. If you miss your old car then buy it again.

In real life whenever I own a car for a while I tend to get bored of it and then start looking at what other options are out there, and quite often it's not until I sell my car that I miss it. Buying a new car is always a fun experience but eventually you will become too familiar with it and it won't be as exciting. Similar to when you get a new girlfriend :p

The 5 car limit means 5 at once not choose 5 and that's it forever. It will take ages to even get 5 cars apparently but once we do and we want a different car then we will just have to sell one. Owning every car in the game at once would be boring and would ruin the sense of ownership and attachment to the cars. Selling a favourite car will be sad but we can always buy it again later if we want.
Who in this thread said it was the same 5 forever?

Maybe in your eyes, it's boring. For some of us, it's a cap. Some of us are able to enjoy more than 5 cars, esp. those of us who have played GT/Forza games for years.

Your last sentence is also baffling contrary to what you said in your 2nd.
It will take ages to even get 5 cars apparently
we can always buy it again later if we want.
If it "will take ages" to get 5 cars (which I assume means cash isn't thrown at you), why would I want to go through the process of raising money to buy & mod a car I previously owned again?

Considering in real life, I'm not raising money through street racing & increasing my reputation in the underground scene, this isn't really an arguable point. It is more than possible in real life to at least own 2-3 cars & enjoy them. Money & bills are the only thing standing in the way for most people to have more, an issue that isn't a problem in this game. It's a cap. based on "attachment" that isn't really necessary in a video game.

The introduction of DLC is also going to become a problem. GTA V briefly encountered it by releasing multiple packs of 5 cars or so every couple months, but kept garage limits the same until allowing a 2nd property to be purchased.

I hope it's gonna be like Most Wanted 2005, Carbon and Undercover where you can own unlimited number of cars in arcade mode.
Well they didn't have an unlimited number, but I do wish they would have the ability to customize cars for quick race again like some of the previous titles.

@McLaren Nobody said that but people are acting like we have to choose 5 cars. I see it as we can own any 5 cars at once, so I can choose any 5 cars in the game at any one time and I can change them whenever I want. Nobody is forcing you to pick 5 and stick with them. As for the money thing we will have to wait and see how long it takes to get enough money to buy new cars, hopefully it's not too long. Either way I really don't see a problem in selling a car to make room for a new one. If you can't let go of a car then don't, just stick with the same 5 and pretend the others don't exist

Also you said that Money and bills are the only issue with owning more than a few cars in real life and not in the game but the money will be an issue in the game if the devs were serious about it taking a long time to own 5 cars.

At the end of the day it is what it is, they have designed it this way so theres nothing we can do about it. One of the previous underground games only allowed us to have 1 car at a time and I don't remember caring about it so 5 at once seems plenty. Having a 5 car limit will also allow players to have unique garages, if everyone owned every car every garage would be the same and nothing would be unique or interesting.

Because that's all the garage cap. will allow; 5 cars & no more.

Except the game is. We don't have to stick with them, but it's not exactly enticing to buy a car, mod it, sell it, & then go through the process of raising funds to buy it again if you want it once more.

Poor argument.

Money that will continue to increase as you play the game. If you own 5 cars & have them modified as you wish, your balance can only go up unless there are cash penalties in the game.

Another poor argument.

The only thing the same would be the models, which is what plenty of 5 car garages will be sharing. The difference is how everyone mods their vehicles.

Thank you for making me cry here

Now I really can't choose 5 out of those cars revealed, and we haven't even see all of it !

Hakosuka
240Z
Skyline R32
Mustang 2015
Porsche 911 (930)
M3 GTR
Supra
R34
M3 E30
friggin S2000
SRT Viper
Plus some other cars that WILL got me interested along the way when I progress through the game.

Okay...let's say you were able to buy all the cars at once, are you just going to do some cyclical process of driving them one after the other and not think for a moment you wont have a top five or top three? Once again I really don't see what takes away from this game by not having an unlimited garage, compared to games where car collecting is part of the game process and where those games have far more events where you'd need five cars than this game.

Because variety.

Many of us adore having access to a wide array of cars to have and customize to our liking, letting more of our creativity to go wild, also allowing us to be more flexible on what cars to use in various races, like in Forza and the previous NFS games, limiting that down to what some may call an absurdly low car capacity would just hinder that.

I personally don't mind the garage limit. It may be nice to have a huge roster, but I only ever end up consistently drive 2 or 3 cars. Anymore are usually because I'm bored and feel like trying something out, only to get rid of it or never touch it again because I always go back to said 2 or 3 cars.

Variety is found in five as well...be more descriptive. You have access to a wide array, just not all at once in your garage, and how can you not go wild enough with the five? You act as if your a stifled artist. As I said in my post that you didn't really quote if it actually had more options life FM or GT it'd make sense, but it doesn't.

You act as if your a stifled artist.
Whoa, hey now.

I can live perfectly fine with the car limitation, just showing a bit of distaste for it. It's just that most of us are just used to the fact that you can have a great amount of cars to have at your disposal.

If anything, they should allow us to have an "offline" sort of garage that would allow us to choose the car that would be a great addition to the actual garage without having to bust (presumably) in game currency with selling a prized car for a good looking one, only to find out that it's trash, and etc.

Huge potential, great customization, quite a great cars. Sad to see it all ruined by a stupid game design that is 5 garage limit.

Then so what? Is unlimited garage gave people OCD? This is especially very insulting if say there is a DLC car coming out.

However, i suspect that probably we can expand the garage further by purchasing it for couple of in game credits.

When exactly was the garage limit confirmed?
Q) How many cars can we own at any one time?
A) We believe in creating a bond and relationship with your cars. It's about finding a ride and taking it from stock, to stock plus awesome through some of the deepest customization in Need for Speed history. You will have a five car garage - if you fill all your spaces, you can chose to sell and purchase a new car, or continue to max out your current ride through the extensive performance upgrades available to you so you can take on anyone on the streets.
From the Q&A

Edit: Tree'd

I doubt with the always-online purpose that the game would have an arcade mode. Arcade mode should be a menu of its own, and judging from Rivals, they may just launch the game straight up into your career garage, no arcade mode.

But I may be wrong. Please let me be wrong for once.

@McLaren lol lighten up buddy, this isn't the state finals of the debating championships. As I said we can't do anything so If you don't like it don't buy the game.
So because we can't do anything, no one can comment on it?

Thank god mankind hasn't had your silly logic for the past 300 years.

A 5 car limit isn't honestly new to me in a NFS title, I always recall each garage I had in a NFS game being limited in garage space. I'm fine with it as long as there's an arcade mode where I can have many cars for the fun of it like in the older NFS games. If not, then I can see this becoming really tedious for me fast.

i didn't say that the limitation would take me away from the game. It's just that it will take me a long time to choose which one i would buy and that it would be awesome if we don't have that limitation. With the cars having a lot of choices of parts, people would want to try different stuff on different cars.

Highly doubt you will, but if you say so then I can't argue with it until I can prove otherwise.

The thing is the path and builds are finite, the only real thing tearing people apart is the outer appearance of notable cars, but a V6 twin turbo supported by a rear wheel drive is only going to go so many ways and in the end it will be the same as many other V6 twin turbo set ups as far low, mid and high range power. Same for the V8s on the American end especially, there is only so much you can do. So realistically the only factor that people seem to be hung up on is liking several cars for their looks foremost and not being able to decide.

I'm just calling it like you spell it out. As I said be use to that in the appropriate context (GT and FM), I never really had a mass of cars in NFS games thus I don't expect to this time or the next.
