alright this might sound stupid but i have never driven a stickshift car before.

I was always wonder how do u shift it?

got a pixture or link where i can get some idea ?

Well, I don't really know how to drive one either, to be honest.

But I do know that you press in the clutch, then switch from 1st to 2nd gear, etc.  I believe that's about it...?  :conf:

there is a small diagram on top of the stick which shows you where the gears are. So when shifting up a gear push your foot onto the clutch and move the stick up a gear. Since sometimes there is no neutral you push the clutch and hold the stick inbetween two gears to make the car neutral. If you get stuck ask someone who has a car with standard transmission.

I don't know many people who still dive a standard, though.

I guess it would be a good idea to find more people.
That must suck if you couldnt find anyone with a standard. Yesterday I went to the Subaru dealer and checked out the Impreza RS 2.5 . Its pretty nice. But the price well... Its OK. a 26,000$ price. Then theres insurance to pay. :(

Yeah, I know a guy who has an old beat-up little truck that I think has a manual transmission.

Haha You can't drive a stick!

Learn new things every day.

(Yes, this was a worthy revival, Jordan can't drive a stick! )

Realease the gas, push in the clutch, change to the desired gear, and then let the clutch come up gently while at the same time pushing the gas pedal down just as gently.
And remember when you change to a higher gear, change them one by one:D
Not from second gear to fourth gear or something like that, the car doesn't like that:D
When you change to a lower gear, you can go from fifth to third or something like that.

No, I beleive I asked you to help me find some options that were available to me in my area. You did help me there, and I did thank you for it.
But let me thank you again because you did "assist" me in my quest for broadband.

Thanks John!! I honestly do appreciate it.

Okay, you did a revival, but no one addressed the salient point of how you get the damn thing to roll in the first place.
1. Turn off radio. (You don't need any distractions)
2. Listen to the motor.
3. Let out clutch, SLOWLY. When the engine starts to strain give it a LITTLE gas, and continue to let the clutch out.
4. At this point you have either stalled the car, burned rubber, or are rolling along smoothly.
5. Again listen to the motor. When it starts to strain (about 3000-4000 RPM in the lower gears (1-3), Foot off gas, Clutch in (at the same time). Pull lever back into 2nd and let out clutch and add gas.
6. Repeat step 5 until you reach the posted speed limit. Shift up once more so the engine isn't working too hard. Stop at next Stop sign or red traffic light.
7. When stopping remember to push clutch in when braking. Or car will stop VERY dramatically, requiring you to restart engine.

Then, you must start practicing holding the car on a hill, w/o using the brake. When you have accomplished this, Grasshopper, you may attempt to walk the rice-paper. If you succed leaving no mark upon the paper you will be a Shao-lin Monk.:D

....That can drive a stick-shift.

Hey,
I'm not here to answer the HARD questions.
Keep it simple. Have the other 2 brain cells devoted to other things.:D
