No, it doesn't change. Once an Altezza, always an Altezza.

However, if you go to the Lexus dealer under the American flag, you can buy an IS 250. In true Polyphony fashion, however, it's not nearly as good as the JDM Altezza, despite being nearly identical.

Yup, we here in America seem to always get the shaft on this. We get the lower redlines and less power. The new Skyline is supposed to be released here next year but as an Infiniti...and we won't get the awesome new turbocharged 6...instead we'll be getting a possible V8 version. Sounds great...but in reality the V8 will weigh more and therefore sacrifice some handling. Also, the new Civic Type R....Japan and Europe will have it..but we won't. :(

It's available at Toyota (in Japan) in GT3. It's an IS 200 in the game (2.0-liter I-6 motor).

(I think this is the first time I've corrected Duke.)

If you mod it a little you can give the Altezzas that the IA uses a run for their money, but you'll be left standing still if you run your IS 200 stock in the Altezza race.

I've found that the Altezza Races in the Beginner's League feel tougher than any other manufacturer event. The Type R Challenge, TT Challenge, Evo Races, and Legend of Silver Arrow are walkovers/..all you gotta do is buy a car and go race! You might need a few parts here and there, but for the most part the neccesity to tune is nonexistent or very light.

Not so for the Altezza race...these are oddly more aggressive. Anyone else agree? I'm talking about the Beginner League...not the later ones.

I agree with you there Parnelli...even though, as a fairly inexperienced driver i found difficulties with a few of the other serie's, particularly the Silver Shadows, the Altezza Series was one i found fairly difficult. I eventually went back and traded up to the RS200, found that far more able to beat the AI.

that is absolutely correct, like i've mention in the drfiting threads. the AI is totally aggressive and u need a 100% focus especially at SS11 and Cote de Azur tracks. my favourite challenge is at the deep forest coz that's the best place that i can challenge the AI with the best drift technique, even being bump over by the AI (can't manage to use sim tyres though)

the race became tough maybe because of all the cars are the same, compare with type r meeting, evo meeting, red emblem meeting (i've not plyed the tt challenge or the silver arrow yet, i just don't like using european cars for racing. nothing personal) so the technical spec and performance of the car look like equally same and it totally depends on your skill. try this challenge at the amateur level and you will totally exhausted but when u win, it's one hell of a battle. good luck to anyone!

even though its tough but at the same time it is enjoyable. i think since 5 months i've play back gt3 after my ps2 screwed up and can't play gt4 anymore, i've played this altezza race around 5 times during my long free time just to get the tom's chaser prize car. :p

The Lexus IS is actually made by Lexus. If you look closly on the car's grill on the front, you can see the Lexus symbol on the grill. :) :)

Hey, Toronado, who are you talking to?
He's talking to you. And if he isn't, I am. Stop dredging up old threads and making non-constructive "additions" to them. If you're not posting something worthwhile, just don't post.

Top of the screen, click Game Guides, then Gran Turismo 3, then Prize Cars, then Prize Cars for your region (NA = North America, PAL = Rest of the World (except Japan)).
