Would you all lay off the man? He is just spreading knowledge, just because it isnt useful to YOU doesnt mean it isnt useful to another GTP member. Please, no matter the morals, dont harass the duplicators. It doesnt help anything. Only thing it shows is that

By the way why do so many threads spiral in to the dupe vs anti-dupe debate? Seems as pointless as arguing about religion.

Because some people can't seem accept that duping is as legitimate as earning cars I suppose. And I keep arguing back lol.

Though if this like debating religion, it will probably go on for 1000 posts. Just see the opinion forum.

BTW, does anyone know if chassis reinforcement counts as a chassis restore from GT Auto? Duping the reinforcement could save a lot of time and money that way, I'm surprised that the thought never crossed my mind.

Chassis Reinforcement turns cars into an understeering mess

Won't people ever get tired of complaining about duping?

Its been a month and people are still whining on something that doesnt even affect their gameplay if they play online using the tools at their disposition to keep very fast cars out.

Anyway, back on topic.
IMHO duping parts is kinda useless. The reason being that they cost really cheap, and I personnally dont think they are worth the hassle of duping.
IMHO two things are worth it, pricey cars and rare paints and that is all.
The rest is pretty much a waste of time as you can aquire the money for them through other means faster than going through all the process of duping.

And if you want lots of money easily (although you wont be able to use your PS3 while doing it.) Just get yourself an X1 and look at one of these "A-Spec Bot" tutorials.

The important part of that quote is the "IMHO".
In your opinion, and may I add situation, it is not worth it.
For myself, I will probably only use it for Racing-Soft tires, because at 36K I always thought they were overpriced, and to dupe 5 of them literally took me 3 minutes. For me, 180K worth of parts for 3 minutes work is worth it. Especially when I have car trades schedule everyday, so I'm already hoping between accounts for that. Adding the parts to that process adds less than a minute of additional work.
But, as I and others have stated, I posted this information for everybody.
It might sound crazy, but there are people who didn't buy GT5 on launch day!
My cousin just bought it last week.
Do you remember when you first started the game how much 180K worth of parts seemed? I would have loved to have known this when I first started out, and that is one of the main reasons I wanted to share it, as I know there are people who this will help out.
Just because some people don't want to use it, or other people feel like they don't need to use it, there are still other people who will be glad to learn it and benefit from using it.

I do this, but I still buy parts every now and then. It just feels good for me to go into the tuning shop. Other times when im online, its easier to go to my garage set a car to online, then put parts on through my items and get back to the racing.

Yup, when the only way to make decent money is to run the american indy over and over and over just holding left and accelerate, dam right im not gonna spend all my money on one car leaving me to run that dam race for fifty billion hours to make.some decent cash.

I'm sure someone else has said it, but with the introduction of Seasonal Events you can now earn 2m+ a week without having to work around the system. The whole "difficult to quickly earn money" argument hasn't been valid for a month.

Considering the slowness of GT5 menus, I find this a torture, specially with the easy money available with seasonal events.

Why do ppl b*tch about nothing! So what if people copy cars n parts... if the game wasnt so flawed... we wouldnt need to! End of!

Parts are so cheap, why even bother?

Have to agree, by the time you've arsed about buying parts, sending them, quitting the game, onto another account, send them back, quit game, back onto proper account you could have grinded Indy 3 times, bought 5 sets of racing soft tyres and have 200k left over. A pretty silly idea to dupe parts when you think about it.

I've never duped anything in this game. I enjoy making the babysteps I have time for in A-spec.. However, I've got no beef with you at all, gentlemen. The fact that most of you dupers share information like this, (as well as your own vehicles), says to me that it's nothing sinister. So yeah, more power to you.

Having said that, I do hope Polyphony find a way to sort out trading eventually and fix this hack. It's definitely needed if they're to get a good online community up and running.

I can just about see why people might use exploits like these, given the huge number of shiny cars I want in my garage versus the relative lack of high payout A-Spec events, but to me it just doesn't seem worth it.

Maybe it does only take a few minutes to duplicate a car, or some tyres, or whatever, and indy is the highest credits-per-minute versus effort, but that's still a few minutes I could be spending on a more interesting track, you know, playing the game. Or better still on track, online.

I don't want to judge; you bought the game, you play it how you want. And as far as I can see, even if everyone had a garage full of duplicated racing cars, it'd make no difference to me - I could still choose a room with restrictions to fit whatever mood I happen to be in.

But I guess I don't understand buying a driving game, then going out of your way not to drive it.

Sorry but....no. This duping thing is ruining the game.

Epic, although, what i do is, buy the car, full upgrade, send to alt acct, delete data, re upload it, send it back full upgraded so i have to buy nothing.

The issue is also with cars that cost 20.000.000, after buying them, no more money to upgrade before sending.

Sorry but....no. This duping thing is ruining the game.

Can you explain where it ruins the game?

1) If you do not want to do it, you do not do it.
2) There is no competition I know of you are falsifying by duping.
3) It does not give an unfair advantage in any race 1 to 1.

For me it enhances my experiences:
1) I can drive the cars I want on the circuits I want, not have to gind Indy for money before I can buy.
2) There is more liquidity on the trade market, you can get someone to trade quickly, instead of having to start a new thread every so often since you do not find anyone interested in your 5 cars that just has the car you are looking for.
3) There is more liquidity on the trade market, you can gamble to trade with someone. If they do not send, you have not lost a precious car. No need to check their credit rating during 3 days.
4) The first alternative, not to be able to back up your game save, was really not acceptable to me.
5) I will not stop racing in GT5 through duping (I admit it takes time), just like I did not stop GT5p after having all the cars.

The idea that you need to "dupe" cars and parts to avoid "grinding" is just rubbish. If you just play A-Spec and win all the Seasonal Events you would have enough money to buy EVERY car in the game in about 6 months and the vast majority of them in a fraction of that time.

Indulging in tedious "duping" exploits just to fill a garage full cars, most of which you can't possibly have driven, just seems insane. Why not enjoy the cars you do have and get the most out of them whilst playing the game in the way it was designed? You'll soon get every car you want, but in the meantime will actually have some fun. But if being a stamp collector is what you want, then knock yourself out, but I fear your impatience is cheating you of the fun the game is supposed to bring.

Its what I do, I play online with friends. Grinding is brain numbing. The only way I can counter the numbing, is to get pissed off at the AI.

There is only so much you can do in the campaign, then it just becomes tedious.

What's more tiresome than people glitching and cheating the hell out of GT5 is the constant whining about how the game requires so much time it can't possibly be played without cheating

You might as well do this while duping cars since you're duping anyway.

'Yo dawg, we heard you like to dupe so we put a fake account into your PS3 so you can dupe while you dupe.'

Thanks for the tip! I never have to buy another racing air filter again. 450 credits every time I wanted one was starting to make me go broke...

Would you prefer exploiting? Not much of a difference.
Oh, and:
'Boohoo, he called me a cheater when I totally ain't!' :sly:

You should be ashamed of yourself:yuck::yuck::yuck:

Don't need your cheats here,

Well, it kind of is. GT is no longer played in isolation, there is the online element. Some people have to work hard to win cars and money to get a good car, other people just use "exploits" that clearly weren't intended by the game developers to short-cut this process. This basically undermines the whole value of hard-to-get cars in the market.

Imagine if someone found a way of duping diamonds. What do you think that would do the value and prestige of them as a commodity? What would you think of "dupers" if you'd invested heavily in a large diamond collection through hard work and astute investments?

Personally I do think all the exploits have a negative and corrosive effect on the entire community. Whilst it's not a major concern for me what other people do, it does have an effect outside the little bubble people pretend they exist in.

My stats:

A-Spec Level: 34
B-Spec Level: 35
Game Progress: 97%
Total Wins: 1269
No. Of Cars Owned: 966
Trophies Earned: 77%
Total Distance Driven: 44,434.6 Miles

Now I'm going to start duping cars for the last 35 I need because I'm sick to death of grinding Indy to get them. So who am I cheating?

You? I don't think what I do in GT5 affects you in any way at all.

Myself? Yeah I'm cheating myself out of a few hundred laps of Indy, shame on me.

The Game? I don't think computer software has an opinion.

Sony and PD? Nope, they could care less.

Glad to put it in perspective for all the drama queens who cry cheat everytime the word dupe is mentioned.

Duping diamonds would = Real life, real money.

Duping cars in a video game = Nothing at all except a few people get upset about it.

As I've said before, I have 966 cars, all won or bought. I've never duped a car for myself yet, but I have duped cars I already have to gift to friends. Now at that amount of cars I'd say I've put in more grinding time than the majority of GT5 players and it doesn't bother me one bit that someone else maybe has the same amount or more but hasn't put the effort in so it shouldn't bother anyone else.

I think we agree. Online brings the most interesting challange, and avoids the comedy AI (which would be less of a problem if they weren't made from solid granite, imo)

And there simlply aren't enough top-tier events in A-Spec. So I can totally understand the motivation to duplicate. I've often thought how the desire to have a structured game to play through can conflict with the desire to have all the shiny cars/guns/levels available now, now, now. GT5 seems to be a particularly strong example of this.

I still personally prefer a few laps though, even against the AI, than a few minutes navigating menus.

aha.. and then.. with your 900 dupes you NEED to have .. how many of these cars has been driven more then once if even once..

imo this whole duping is plain stupid. Whats the point of having 1000 cars as fast as possible?! its so "lol"
And now.. duping parts. just because you have to save, backup-relogin-send back.. why not just drive and have fun with the cars you can afford and with time you will have the cars you want and need. ah.. wait.. there is a trophy.

its up to you.. but if you guys write about duping you should be tough enough to get some critics. its not the way its meant to be so its a cheat. if you cant live with that dont dupe.

GT5 is the best example of how the gamer community is somehow addicted and its all about finishing and having everything right now. If there is some effort needed it sucks, it's unbalanced. If not everyone can get gold -> it's unfair.

Why not having FUN. Thats what games are made for.
Dont tell me saving, backing up- quit game and so on is fun....

well.. :D

If that was directed at me you should read again, I don't have 900 dupes, I have 966 earned cars, I'm going to start duping for the remaining 65 because I'm fed up grinding to complete the collection.

For your cheat comment, read my post 2 back from this one.

Well, yeah, obviously. But you are missing the point of the analogy. Both devalue the commodity being duped within the environment they exist in (diamonds in the real-world and cars in the GT online world). It's not a massive deal to me, but to pretend it has no effect is ingenious.

Lets be honest, it really only affects people who need to get a grip on reality. Life doesn't revolve around Gran Turismo. The money isn't real, the cars aren't real, the racing isn't real. The way you see some drama queens on here talk you'd think people were committing grand theft auto.

Well, that is kind of the point. If it's not so important, then why the need to indulge in tedious and time-consuming exploits just so you can rush completing the game? Obsessively needing to have every car in the game ASAP is surely a symptom of someone who takes it far too seriously!
