3 x Indy = 351,000. I was rounding it up, not being literal. The thread isn't about duping cars, it's about duping parts. As it says, 5 parts per day.

In that case, you mean the American Championship, which is longer at 11 minutes in pure driving time. You could hit two, maybe three duping accounts in that same period. The 5/day limit is per account, not total.

And while this thread is about parts, people are obviously duping cars already, so I don't know why you would discredit the argument I made. They are already duping, so adding the parts takes maybe 1 minute.

This kind of things wouldn't have happened if we didn't have to do stuff like engine overhaul, restore rigidity which costs so much and even then the car performance drops... Should have been done forZa way where they are sorted cheap after races, and car is like new every time it does a new race/event.

Lol 5 pages overnight...

Still have yet to read a good argument SUPPORTING this..

You say you need 200k to tune ever car, Who said you had to? The trophy is "own 1000 cars" not "own 1000 TUNED cars". If your worried about this just go by the damn Cart for 5,000 that'll save you LOADS of time instead of this duping BS

There's a simple answer. No one cares about a worthless throphy. I said exactly what you just said a few minutes ago to prove that point.

Besides the myriad of other things that people don't understand about this process, I think that point is one of the most overlooked.
They keep talking about extra time to dupe parts.
But they either don't realize, or won't acknowledge, that people already have the dupe accounts setup and they are already going through the process of duping one car per day from each account.
Adding in five parts and five paints literally adds one minute of time to the process they are already doing.
In actuality, adding parts and paints simply makes the duping process a more profitable venture, as you are getting a higher percentage of return on your time.
Thanks for bringing that fact to the forefront, although I'm sure some will still fail to understand it, or be unwilling to accept it, because of their anger.

I wasn't discrediting your argument, I was just pointing out what the thread is about and some people will actually find it acceptable to dupe parts or paints but not expensive cars, such is the weird way of this forum, or only dupe a car they need instead of duping everything in sight. It's not just a clear cut dupe or don't dupe to some people.

You sure? Here I am on the duping side. I don't see any split. I have no problems with you.
Really, you don't see a split? So you just posted a 6-page response about duping because there's no split?

Clearly, people on both sides of the argument feel strongly about it, and there doesn't seem to be a middle ground. It's strong enough that it's called an 'argument', and an argument that can't be settled (and that seems to creep into every discussion), would best be settled by removing the offending practice entirely.

I'm up for suggestions about how to settle it, though. Removing the possibility of duping is one way, but maybe there are other ways. Anybody have any ideas?

Then let me put it like this, I see no reason to separate myself from you and others of your opinion. Our opinions differ on duping, but I don't consider you an "enemy". Perhaps you consider me such, and then there very well could be s split.

Tell PD to stop making people unlock things. It's not a new idea.

But that would ruin the game entirely

Just make it optionals. Earners earn, racers race.

i find it a lot easier to just play the game--haven't duped anything.

BUT i'm lucky. the "grind" race in this game just happens to be at my hometown track. ZR1, cockpit view, no hud, IMS. I just pretend its the last 5 laps of some sort of support IROC race before the Indy 500. Can do it quite a few times in a row before getting bored, lol.

whatever if other people do though, doesn't affect me.

No, I definitely don't consider anybody that way. It's just a difference of opinion, nothing to get worked up over. 👍

From the outside looking in, it's just a contentious issue that generally divides the community. The issue keeps interfering with more constructive discussions, and we see it in thread after thread. If I were the developer and I wanted to support a healthy gaming community, I'd get rid of the function that causes the rift, so that everyobdy could get back to discussing the game itself, rather than an exploit that occurs due to the mechanics of game saves.

Christ, is this what this game has really turned into? Duping and cheating wherever possible?

Some people say they dont have time to play as it met to play, because they have real life too:crazy:

But still I'm too thinking why this game got to get cheated, why is hurry to get every damn trophy or whatever:yuck: Full 1031 garage:yuck: Next GT coming not in near future. Its not a suprise these same people starting threads why there is not new upgrades coming every day to game, tracks, cars...

You're missing the point. Duping is what allows one to have fun in GT5. It gives me more cars and lets me ignore A-Spec for the most part. That last bit alone about ignoring A-Spec is one of the things that makes it truly great.

So true, because none of that at all applies to me or anyone else who dislikes A-Spec.

So, with all due respect, you bought a RACING game and then come out and say you don't like to actually race, but SOLELY collect cars!?!!? Shouldn't you be playing some sort of Facebook game if that's the case? Really, why shell out big time for GT5 and then turn around and not race? Please explain...

Don't get me wrong - I enjoy collecting cars as well, but I actually like to, you know, race them every so often..

Also, I do not think that this is 'just me'...

I said no such thing. As far as I'm concerned, the only racing GT5 offers is online. The AI can't drive, there is no qualification in A-Spec, 6 laps is a long race compared to most offerings, some cars in the same race can be twice as fast as the others, etc, etc, etc. On top of all that, PD felt the need to make you endure this just to get cars. No thanks I say.

I bought GT5 to race, and thanks to duping, I get more time to race because instead of having to run Indy against zombies just to buy a car, I'm online competing with drivers in hundreds of different cars.

👎

this is just sad :grumpy: but I don't care I'm not duping anything for myself because I earn my stuff...

I thought this thread would be about the fact that you don't need to tune cars. Most events can be won with stock.

Exploiting is actually accurate, since duping isn't cheating.

Ah yes it is. I will refer you to my previous comment "just because its possible doesn't make it legitimate."
You honestly think Polyphony expected people to bypass the game content and to instead undermine the whole the game by duping to accounts? Come on. What sought of lame game would that be? "Oh yeah guys have you heard about that cool new video game where you can just cheat it with multiple accounts so you don't need to play it".

Don't you realise that you spit in the face of every person who plays legitimately when you go online with your ill gotten gains? Why now should I slog it out to unlock a special car when every other dushbag has one already for no effort? You effectively ruin the game for those who don't cheat.

I am savoring it, thanks to duping. If it wasn't for duping I would have wasted countless more hours playing A-Spec, in effect ruining the whole point of buying the game.

Why don't you just go one step further and just put the controler down, then that way you won't have to play it at all.

And like I said before, rare cars are just stupid from an online perspective. Everyone should have every car so that any race can be entered. Duping brings us closer to that thankfully

Wrong. You are supposed to achieve a certain SKILL LEVEL to EARN certain cars. Now the tracks are littered with little kids and those who just aren't cut out for it in powerful cars they can't drive.

Like dirving Indy for 13 hours? Where's the skill in that?

Well for one, patience which you seem to be lacking. How about concentration and endurance? But why don't you just take easy street?

Hacking a trophy would be cheating.

As well. But who cares? That doesn't give you a online competitive advantage like duping does it? Try again.

In a month or so the short attention span dupers will have moved on to exploit whatever the latest game out is and the problem will die off. In the mean time don't encourage their spoilt brat mentality!

RE: Skills. Wow. Takes a lot of skill to grind to Level 35 B-Spec to "earn" that X1, doesn't it?

I wanted to close this thread as soon as it opened, but it initially seemed like it was following the "should I dupe parts, pros and cons" route which the title suggests.

And then it turned into a "duping is cheating" versus "let us play the game the way we want" thread. And we really, really don't need another one of those.
