I love this.

Tiny little tandem 2 seater.
Apparently electric and near silent running.
I would own this.
👍

I think maybe one half of my 6'6" frame would fit in that. And that's a stretch. Is there a meaning behind the paint design?

That's how most cars are seen pre-release/reveal.
I expcect it will be a strong solid colour when revealed in a motor show.

Proof a man can sit in it.

I'm not sure about the sizing. But the paint/wrap is usually put on to make it not photograph properly. As in, you can't really see the curves and lines of the car. But I don't much see the point since this is pretty...."distinctive".

Ah! I see what you're saying. And yes, there is no doubt I would not fit in that car. Maybe if I was folded in half .

Camo, yet they don't cover the grille, lights, or Audi badge.

AUDI! You let me down with this thing!? It looks like a smart car and I could run it down with a Golf GTI. And it's electric!!! How dare you sir how dare you.

An Audi like that could be like a Caterham. It could be a sports car.
It would certainly outrun a GTI if it was given a good electric motor. (not in top speed admittedly)

It's almost certainly set to be officially revealed at Frankfurt. Which is great, because I'll be there reporting on it.

Looks fantastic. The concept strikes me as similar to the Renault Twizy - a small, electric, tandem two-seater for the city, but you presume it'll be equivalently more expensive and equivalently higher-tech. Looks like it has the potential to be incredibly fun to drive. Relatively wide track and low centre of gravity. The Twizy is relatively tall and narrow but even that's supposed to handle well.

It looks absolutely nothing like a smart car.

Looks more like one of these mud buggies:

I'm pretty sure it will be fun to drive, but it's main role will be as a city car. In the next ten or so years as the prices get properly acceptable, expect big cities to be fullfilled with these things.

Official Audi sketches.
Just wanted to say to Gordon Murray, hello. He should of retired from car design.

Further details of the concept.
Carbon-fibre monocoque. Cool.
Outboard mounted 21" wheels.
Known as 1+1 seating. Very cool, closest thing to single seater from a car maker.
Adjustable pedals.
Twin electric motors...
lithium battery.
Different versions are made/ to be on display (hence difference from photos).

Murrays electric effort...

As long as they're going to offer an RS version with a nice engine, why not... The 340HP, 2.5 litre inline 5 from the TTRS, for example :O
I know, I know, unrealistic and the engine most likely won't even fit in there, but still...

Fairish point, but in this case styling and design are incorporated into one for a functional car.

This car would not need 340bhp from a 2.5 turbo. It would fly with 200bhp 1.6 turbo. But it would be beat most cars with a 1.2 turbo with 120bhp. Keeping it lightweight.
But i'm interested in what performance it could get with electric. I wonder if Audi can consider the car being a model for economy and with a variation have a sports type.

It's fully electric. Not too many details yet, but it has two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery pack.

And for those who haven't seen, Audi has released sketches of the concept.

Seating is offset tandem, which should mean good space for driver and passenger.

It's being unveiled properly at Frankfurt so I'll be sure to have a closer look there :D

I've already posted those sketches and said its twin motor electric. I don't mind just wondered if you saw my posts.

Err... sorry yep, vision fail on my part :dunce: I thought it was strange that nobody posted them. Whoops...

Anyway, I'm guessing still that it's fully electric, for all the points I raised above.

Edit: This is new though, teaser video.

Nothing special though - it's been taken at the Berlin square where the first vids and pics leaked from.

This is Audi's new Caparo T1 competitor :D

but in all seriousness they should make and RS version of this, it would probably be a quick little track monster (baby Ariel Atom)

Open top version will also be on display at the Frankfurt motor-show.

I really really want one of these cars, hard tops I prefer.
I would want it in a bright colour so I could be seen better by other traffic, and rear daytime lights in addition to the front daytime lights.

Yeah, not keen on the red stripe myself. I'm intrigued to see the full, un-camo'd concept at Frankfurt. If they have one to drive, even better.

I like it a lot, but wouldn't it be better as a Volkswagen?

It's funny you mentioned that:

The VW Nils is only a one-seater compared to the Audi's two but the concept looked very production ready (the whole interior could easily be done today, it had suspension, a boot, proper tyres etc). This doesn't mean it'll actually go into production (VW's concepts often basically look like production cars) but it made the Audi look really disappointing:

Yeah, the Audi is more agressive blah blah but at the end of the day they're showing no intentions whatsoever of building it. VW was letting people sit inside the Nils, Audi had the Urban Concept up on a pedestal. Guess which one was getting more attention?
