That better stay as a concept, they ruined the look of the TT.

That's not possible. It's just a vertically-challenged new Beetle anyway.

It appears the engineers at VAG took a bat to an A3, then didn't a skin graph with parts of a TT.

Guys that website is far off. That is in no way a TT concept but rather just someone over zealous when they saw that image. I think that is more like a concept of what the future A3 will look like as the current A3 is nearing its finish.

Nonsense! The TT is a beautifully minimal looking design, it still looks contemporary today. You shouldn't mess with a true yuppie icon! ;)

Those pictures look nothing like what a new TT should look like. It should look similar to the old one (genuinely stylish and iconic), but just make it handle and go like a sportscar this time. The lack of performace in the old one was the main thing that helped the TT gain its 'tosser' image. Hang on, Porshces go fast, but still have a tosser image, so hey I dunno what the answer is. :sly:

We stateside types are no more familiar with the English shooting brake than we are with clotted cream or buttered fish at breakfast. Historically, it’s a vehicular crossup between a sports car and a station wagon (so sorry, estate) for country gentlemen whose fox hunting gear intruded upon their motoring activities. Now, Audi is reviving the shooting-brake concept in its new Shooting Brake Concept, which in addition to offering a fresh spin on the sport compact segment, also hints stylistically at the next-generation TT.

Here you go in english.

That is not a TT concept at all.

I despise the old one, but they should at least make it look at least a little like the old one.

Huh? It's a hatchback.
My thoughts exactly. The Audi TT is a coupe, not a 3-door. And that grille is just godawful. Reminds me of some random idiot with a bucktoothed grin.

Goosenaargh.

It wasn't designed at all. Someone left the heating on at VAG and the clay model of the New Beetle melted.

And then they realised it took off when it was nowhere near its top speed (funny that, for a car shaped like an aeroplane wing. Don't VAG have a wind tunnel?) and had to recall them to put a wing on the "beautifully minimal looking design" so it didn't kill people.

They're bought by tossers, that's why.

After all (in the case of the TT) who else would buy a £30,000 1.8 litre Golf? It's not a car - it's a posing pouch. It's not very fast and it doesn't handle very well - ever wonder why they're all low mileage ones and you never (and I mean never) see one at a trackday? Because they're cars which don't handle bought by people who can't drive.

Wrong.

Almost there, this it IS the next Audi TT, but it is an Audi TT shooting brake. So while the normal next gen Audi TT will still be a proper coupe, this will still be an Audi TT and it IS and Audi TT concept.

I have to disagree as Ive seen spy pics of the new TT and it looks alot like the old one but with the family grill and a4 style rear clusters. The new TT will also be more aggressive looking than the current one. Id post pics but the website on which the pics were on isnt working at the moment.

actually you are right.

"Auto Motor und Sport" is reporting that Audi will show the Audi TT Shooting Brake concept car at the Tokyo Motor Show.

The car is 4.18 m long, 1.84 m wide and 1.35 high.

The concept is based on the next generation of the Audi TT which will be available autumn 2006 (coupé, convertible 6 months later) and is a mixture of a sports car and a station wagon.

The Audi TT Shooting Brake is powered by a V6 3.2 liter engine with 250 bhp and 6-gear manual transmission and of course quattro drive.

Here are some of the highlights:
- Audi magnetic ride: The driver can choose between two driving settings, sporty or comfortable
- ceramic brakes
- 19 inch alloy rim wheels
- new touchscreen to adjust the basic settings in the car
- new navigation system: the system will tell you the right gear and speed before approaching a curve

I'm in full accord. Famine's words are wise.

My disclaimer was that if performance weren't an issue, the TT looks cool. The first time I saw it I thought it looked very cool. Of course the whole platform its on, and the nasty aerodynamics made it a rubbish car. I'm not saying it isn't a bad, tosser car. I said it was for yuppies.

But, purely aesthetically (if its possible to remove the performance from the equation), the car looked very cool (before everyone realised it was a crap car).

Not a crap car, totally, but just a case of overpromising and underdelivering.

Still, the design will go down as one of the most memorable cars of all time.

The only TT I see in that "shooting brake" concept is the rear end. The front is just horrid. Looks like some people in the design department did a wonderful job on the car. You can see that in the flank, which mirrors the current TT, but is sleeker, more dynamic and muscular. You can see it in the beautiful roof arch (not practical for headroom, but hell, this IS a TT). You can see it in the rear cluster and the well-shaped C-pillar.

After all that hard work, top management comes down, looks it over, and says: "That's nice. Now erase that front thingy and put the corporate nose back on." What a waste.

Nope.

If everyone has one, it cannot be cool. It's often called the Audi cliTToris (because every ***t has got one)...

👍

The TT is an 'accessory' for people who aren't interested in cars.

I am an avid Audi fan. My family has always owned and will only own Audis. I usually defend them to the grave...

...But this is a joke. Renault Megane'ish rear, 1 series door panels, Korean Nose. Ha ha, not funny.

First of all the audi TT is the most beautiful car you can buy for 25 grand.
Secondly the next audi TT will look nothing like that concept I dont know why they put TT on the name. It cheapens it.

Sure. Course it is.

Even if you limit that to only new cars, you'll miss out on

(except the £30,000 GTA at the front, but including the Sportwagons)

For starters - even IF you're deluded enough to think that the squashed-bug, pushmi-pullya looks of the Audi TT are "beautiful".

That said, the TT manages to look better in pictures than it does in real life - where it contrives to look like a Bell's Palsy suffering stroke-victim from the front - especially with the headlights on.

That depends on the spec of the TT. If the TT is fitted with S-line rims aka RS4 alloys then its beautiful. A couple million people cant be wrong but then again isnt the TT like one of the best selling coupes ever?
This audi A4 cabriolet pawns each of those cars in the looks department alone.
