Nice track, but the info about Seoul is not exactly new. The site below had listed Seoul as one of the tracks as much as 3 months ago. Sears point and Yosemite were listed well before they were debuted at TGS. I got this webpage from another gtp thread, i guess not many ppl checked this site out. They have hacked images from other tracks as well.

Yep, this website is really to the point, even if some GTP memebers say it's just a wishlist. It's definately not, everyday passsing proves this site is very close to reality.

See ya :sly:

Thanks, I forgot about that.

Friggin sweeeeat!! My home town!! :) I remember reading it as a possible course but now that it's confirmed this is just too cool! They shoulda based the track on the mountain roads cuz there's some pretty sweet ones up there. But then again, this isn't Initial D

I'll see what I can do.

EDIT: agent R, since you're a local, do you have any idea where this track goes based on your knowledge of Seoul by any chance?

I guess you Korean and even part-Korean fans of Gran Turismo will be proud to say you'll have home-field advantage. Seoul, South Korea. I like this track here. And true to Korean cars, Hyundais are included in the pictures. I like them a lot.

As much as I would like to learn about this big world of ours, I don't know too much about Korea. I've heard Korean pop music before such as from B.O.A., S.E.S., and Baby VOX. And when it comes to racing in Korea, the race I usually heard of most is the F3 race in Changwon, South Korea. I don't know about this Seoul track, but Changwon is pretty technical. You have a chicane to begin with, you bend into this pretty tight section, a long straightaway (my favorite aspect of road courses) that leads to two temporary chicanes, then two sharp turns to the finish. So let's see how this Seoul deal goes.

GTPlanet, do you realize how PD is including not only Japan, but also other parts of Asia? I think the European influence is going pretty well. And let's not forget us American folks. Us crazy Americans get Las Vegas, New York, and Sears Point among others. I think the international influence in GTPlanet is pretty big if you ask me. I'll talk in greater detail about it in the "What Surprises...for GT4?", but when it comes to international influence, I'll go on speculation. If I had to make a wild speculation, I'm guessing that Australia will have a track in GT4. Chances are, it could be (A) fantasy street course in Sydney, (B) Adelaide street course, (C) Sandown, (D) Phillip Island, or last but not least... (E) Bathurst.

I'll provide more commentary on this in a future post.

I made an old topic called "Cities in Gran Turismo" where I talked about the city deal in GT games. Among others, I probably mentioned the issue of street courses in general. I can remember one other person who said that "street courses aren't racing." And that was Dave Despain. Street courses offer a different variety, even if they are tougher to race on. If you want a nice street course, I'd have to say that Long Beach is pretty cool. If you know your CART/Champ Car, you know that the Long Beach race is pretty much a tradition. If I didn't like the Miami street course (despite being narrow), Long Beach is surely a great place to check out Champ Car racing.

But, I welcome the street course challenge. Street courses aren't THAT bad. In fact, the only bad thing about them is that if you get stuck somewhere and on the racing line, it's going to be pretty bad for all the others. But, this Seoul deal reminds me of Tokyo R246, then some parts of Houston's Galleria district in ways. I'll have to await any information about videos so I can review them to see what the experience will be like.

John,

I'm only guessing but I wager that there are a huge number of Aussie GT4 fans out here that would be itching to get their hands on Bathurst done to the quality of Fuji etc. by PD.

On a per capita basis, relatively afluent Australia would have one of the highest take ups of PS2 consoles and I am surprised that we have not had one of our tracks yet. Personally, if we do get one, I hope it is Bathurst.

On a similar vein, I have yet to hear if any Holdens or HSV's have been included in the car lists.

Cheers

I noticed the inclusion of the JGTC Nissan 350Z. I had a feeling PD would include this. 359 you had better update that awsome list...again. My god,it scares me to think how good this game is gunna be. All kneel and praise to Polyphony.

By using the Internet to come up with pretty cool info, here are three links from one website. The first link is the website itself. The next one focuses on Korea:

http://etracksonline.co.uk
http://etracksonline.co.uk/Asia/southkorea.html
http://etracksonline.co.uk/Asia/seoul.html *

GTPlanet, the link with the asterisk next to it, I have a funny feeling that this may be the track map for Seoul. If that holds true, then for the first time, I finally come up with some rather useful information for GT4. Of course, I'm no GT insider, so I normally don't contribute to stuff like new pictures, new tracks, more features, and stuff like that. But if things hold true, this will be my first most successful bit of useful information. Could the third link be the track map to Seoul? Here's an exceprt from the track description:

"Parkland circuit inthe South Korean capital, which is set to host a round of the Champ Car series in 2004. Built on the banks of the Han river, the circuit has a five-year contract. There are plans to lengthen with circuit in future years." -courtesy of http://etracksonline.co.uk

Ya dig, players?

This new track is amazing :) 👍 ......but its yet another one located in Asia, why can't we have a UK one! :( ......London Street Circuit would be amazing!!!!!

Starting to get a little pissed-off with all these 'city' circuits, i'd rather have 1 new 'road course' than New York, Paris, Seoul, Hong Kong and Amalfi. Whilst GranTurismo cars still 'bounce' off wall unrealistically i prefere to do my driving on a proper circuit, designed specifically for racing whether its a real circuit (laguna) or pure fantasy (autumn ring)
- just my opinion :)

That doesn't necessarily mean that the Seoul circuit in GT4 will be the one in that link.

I hate city tracks ! ! !

Why they instead don't try to put real tracks that are much more funny to drive???
Where is the fun to drive 90° angles turns?

It's challenging. 90° corners are not often found in normal circuits, but are used in street courses to offer challenge to drivers. And besides, not all city courses have right-angled turns.

great news....... the shots look great and it seems like we are looking forward towards driving on a great track. I personally have nothing against city tracks. I love it as long as it involves cars.... :) ..

Was this really necessary...?
What's the idea? A city course in every country there is?

I see that peoples opinion about this is pretty much divided. I think it's too much.

I'm unsure... I think there should be a balance... and until we know how many real & fantasy track courses there are we don't know how many city courses there should be... altho personally I never race on NY in prologue cos it pisses me off too much...

Fuji and Tsukuba are my faves... I prefer to race with competition (not that the AI is upto much... but every little helps!)

The location is center of seoul(called "JONG-RO-GU).There are city hall, daily news paper buildings and lots of Korean major company buildings(LG,Sam-sung,hyun-dai..)

as you know ,this course is similar to R-246.

some japanese visit this place very often, because there are traditional market around here

and there are many interesting opinions about fantasy race track.
at least in GT4 ,He(Yamauchi) is God.

if he want ,he will make.(but not always.) :)

You know, I thought I heard rumors of a London street course months ago. I wouldn't mind doing hot laps passing by Big Ben or Westminster Abbey or Buckingham Palace each lap.

As I've said, street courses are basically road courses made from city streets. Look at Funidora Park's course or lovely Surfer's Paradise. Hell, Bathurst is a semi-permanant course. And don't pretend that every street course is a Monte Carlo or a Macau. You're making a generalization when you do that. I thought Tokyo R246 was more of a high-speed course than a super-tight road course. And if you want perhaps the most impossible street racing track to win at, let it be Canberra. Play "Pro Race Driver," and you'll get the idea. You have to literally cheat to win while defending your car. Out of 8 cars, highest I finished in PRD was maybe 5th. So if you think street courses "aren't racing," try Canberra. That's not "racing" at all. And as I said, Dave Despain said "street courses aren't racing" on WindTunnel once, but tell me how many street races CASCAR races. They been on most of the street tracks Champ Car raced in Canada. So street courses aren't so much about dealing with a tight track, it's more like trying to find the best line while passing others for positition. Don't be afraid of the barriers. Just find the racing line, look for ways to overtake in the corners or on the straights, and just simply survive. That simple. I'm used to street courses, so I'm not bothered. This is just going back to taking a track and finding the best way around. Street courses are only bad if you mess up and bang into the barriers and stay there. Give yourself a chance with these races. I'm not sick of them at all.

Just take it easy, my friend. And uh... DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!

To a certain extent I think 90 degree turns can be pretty fun. Especially when they come in a combination, it gives a challenge to take the right line, and the "offer speed in one corner to gain in the next" tactics offers a challenge here rarely found in normal racing courses. (think the double left, instantly followed by right-left in NY)

I have to agree, this combination gave me a huge problem to get through smooth with the controller, however with the DFP and a few of the more powerful RWD cars, it's a huge amount of fun to get the right-left sequence just right with a flick out of the right hander and basically execute a HUGE drift with a bit of opposite lock on the last corner. Leaves me grinning from ear to ear every time.
