Yeah $350! Really nice rim, the price is a little nuts but I'll end up getting it. Over at iRacing their saying this hub is extremely moddable with other rims so it may be a boon for modders. Sam Maxwell thinks so and he knows what he's talking about. :)

I prefer my italian Momo real wood and aluminium wheels (both are around 34cm diameter) that I paid not more than 40€...

Fans an owners did voice their desire for a classic / barebones wheel, but at that price how many units are they really going to sell?

A simple quick release that could take a modded wheel or an actual momo sparco ect... wheel would help sell so many more clubsport wheel bases.
 
Hah, wow and no buttons. The CSW base is $100 more, and it's a Sim Wheel, this is absurd. Wrong direction Fanatec.

What don't you like here more? The fact that it costs 350 or that it doesn't have any buttons for that price? There are some people who wanted a simple wheel without buttons. You can't never please all people at once.

I wonder if it really doesn't have any buttons back or front. This would probably be the first case where you can't change the wheel settings on the go.

I don't like it not having buttons, it's just some metal and leather thrown together that clearly isn't worth $350, even if it had buttons it still wouldn't be worth it. The BMW rim is what $175? Even that is a little steep, but I could see springing for that wheel as it's pretty authentic. But this wheel is 'spend more, get less.' Not for me, time will tell if there's a lot of drivers who don't want buttons.

250. (formula is 180) I don't think that it is steep for BMW rim. They say that it is the exact size and material. Even a barebone Sparco rim similar in essence to that new rim costs about 200, while Fanatec has all the buttons and quick release for a little extra. It makes me actually wonder how come BMW rim is that cheap. I don't think you get the wheel for real racing touring car or gt car for that price. Those probably cost at least a thousand eventhough Fanatec rim promises to be mostly exactly the same.

Im sure the black area is a display of some sort, it better do a whole lot more than just display the tuning menu and some LEDs. Im not sure what else it could do to justify the price, but it better be some pretty fancy stuff.
 
Class!!! That t500 mod, as for Fanatec wheel seems like its just another ripoff like the csw with its twin 2 dollar motors installed.

Actually the Fanatec Classic rim looks suspiciously like a Momo Prototipo 350mm wheel with silver dish. So either its made by Momo or I fear Fanatec could expect some lawyers from Momo if they haven't licensed the design to make replicas.
If it's made by Momo and it is the Prototipo with custom design (no branding + brown leather), the price could end up at indeed almost the 350 USD/Euro.

Here is more proof for you. Though this one has the Prototipo with black dish (due to lack of silver dish pics on the web). The pic was bored from someone at WMD.

Also notice the lack of bottom spoke seam on the Momo. Which makes me think the Fanatec is a replica, either licensed or unlicensed.

LOL that is identical. Has to be licensed hence the cost. I applaud Fanatec if that is the case but in this instance I would have gladly taken a slightly different Nardi knock off or something else so that the cost could come down. Many racers won't be able to afford this. I'll probably pick it up if i still have my CSW by then.
 
There has to be more to it for that price. I'm guessing there's a separate dash panel with buttons or something. Maybe an old school analog tach also?
 
I don't think it's licensed. Has Momo ever not stamped their wheels? I'm very dubious that Momo wouldn't want it on there. And if that's the reason the cost was driven so high, I'm sure Fanatec would want to show it off to the world. Since Momo is obviously a desirable logo to have on your product.
 
I don´t think there is any more to it. It´s just a wheel with huge profit margins and low on features :).

They just announced a 350 mm Nascar rim with one rotary switch notching else for 349 Euro/USD.

Appears to me they are not really looking into getting what the masses would want that is for sure.
Given up that race for whatever reason.
 
Honestly, I have a feeling these are not the only ones we will see. There may be more to come knowing Thomas.

And while the prices are a bit steep, try making these yourself for less than the retail..... I am no staunch supporter of Fanatec and still have my reservations on quality control, but the CSW is the best bang for the buck on the PC sim wheel market. I have tried ECCI & Frex's wheels out. Both are marginally better than the CSW when properly tuned. For the price, the CSW is a beast. And I still have yet to purchase Eric's - Buhler motor mod kit!

When the CSW came out, the price was what it was to be introductory and drive sales up. Now with certainly 1000+ sold, it makes sense to drive up the profit margin & offer an array of rims. People are in business to make money. My .02 on the pricing of these.

If there was 1 more product I said I would get, it would be a Nascar/Momo style rim for the CSW. Now it is here, and I will 100% be buying it. I think he Thomas is trying to cover all corners / "masses" of the racing market with the new rims. Sit back and wait to see. Kinda surprised to see this to be honest. Was not sure how Fanatec was doing overall. Good to see the new rims.

Interesting that before CSS was received by first customers, if i remember correctly Thomas said that their handbrake is ready to get in production together with their shifter. Now, three quarters of a year later, rims, driving school cockpit and who knows what later, still no sign of a handbrake.
