I hope that if we'll see either a new Ford GT or a GT350R, that we'll also see a GT3 or GTE version of it.

Looks like Ford is getting serious about performance again. Haven't seen them do all this stuff since the '60s.

It is a good thing if it is true. I have always preferred Ford over GM, and Fiat-Chrysler, but I won't deny that they have fallen behind with performance vehicles. I will not elaborate on why I like Ford more than the others.

I wonder if they were to make a new Ford GT, would they continue using a Supercharged V8? Or would they use an EcoBoost V6? Somehow I could see them use the SVT Raptor's 6.2L V8 and supercharge it. Or maybe the 5.4L...

A new Ford GT would probably use the Mustang's 5.0 unit I'd imagine. Or an enlarged one based on the same block.

I think Ford is done with supercharging. I have no proof of this, but it is my feeling. I could see them doing an ecoboost voodoo. That would be interesting.

Last time Ford tried a spiritual successor to the GT40 they came out with the GT90 and to me that thing was an eyesore. Hope that they just stick with a GT40 look and just refresh it a little. Curious to see any Mustang they bring out since that 2015 model is just gorgeous.

Now that they're making good profits they can afford to inspire people to be passionate about cars. It will create young fans who are more likely to be loyal in the long run.

The market is finally starting to turn around as well. Gas prices are dropping steadily, car sales have gone way up and people have a little extra money to spend. Ford's doing a great job reading the market.

Their exiting V8 Supercars isn't going down well with fans though.

Luckily Australia doesn't matter THAT much.

They could run the Mustang in the series and then proceed to not sell any of them either, but this seems like a considerably simpler solution for the automaker that is essentially shutting down in 2 years anyway.

Spend a lot of money to satisfy a small, vocal fanbase that wasn't actually buying the cars they're complaining about losing?

I mean, maybe with Mulally gone, Ford would suddenly decide to start burning money like that, but it seems unlikely.

The main number is how many Mustangs are imported. Ford are introducing 20 new models from next year(a Ford DP told me this). The little EcoBoost mini SUV, Kuga, Fiesta ST, New XR8 that are already here, pretty much show Ford's commitment to selling road cars here. People have bought 86/BRZ's (the latter automatics going for $42kAUD). Mainly 4door anything are sold here. 300 SRT8s do good here as well. Coupes are out there so, it might not be about rear seat room. I see plenty MX-5s, 3-series coupes, Hyundai Velosters, TT's, Abarth 500s and Minis. Even R35 GT-Rs. It may be about location. When I lived in Melbourne, towbars only go on family vehicles. In New South Wales, towbars are on everything :sly:

We'll see. The EcoBoost Stang at $50kAUD (If that's the price expected), will most likely attract people who are trading in the BR-Z for more power. The convertible should do well. Once again, depends on how many are imported. I'm still struggling between the Mustang and ND MX-5.

Another thing, the Monaro has plenty of room front and back. Manual, auto, V8. I see them, but too few and far between. Australians prefer 4doors over coupes for sure. That's what I see.

Please don't let the new GT be a hybrid. I know it's more economical and performance benefits with electric motors, yadda yadda yadda. I want a thunderous V8, RWD, and performance that is better than most of the big-name sports cars on the market.

those hybrid supercars still have some great sounds but somehow i doubt ford will make the GT a hybrid.
