I also think it's too little to late... why oh why was it not in the original GT4?

Is it a desperate shot at milking the market of money further? Especially when a lot of us when out and bought extra equipment just for this game. I know I did... vid card for the PC, DFP wheel, network adaptor (cause I thought it would be online in the first place). I'm not very impressed... that saying I'll probably end up getting it anyway, just to add it to the collection... well since I have 1,2,3,4 concept & prologue.... damn GT addiction... :dunce:

Lets face it, we'll whine and b*tch, but buy the damn thing anyway...

GTPlanet's online racing community will get a a LOT bigger when this online version comes out, it WILL give the game a lot more life. It can only be good.

I still find this way too late...so am I supposed to buy an adaptor + the ''new'' game?
You might have a bit of a job finding network adaptors for old version PS2's (like mine) since they don't make them any more (I think)....:ouch:

Very true (well for me at least), still they have had long enough to at the very least add in some more content and I would personally expect to see this at a lower price point.

Along the lines of the remix version of Midnight Club 3.

I just hope they address the damage factor, since without a penalty there won't be an incentive for the majority of drivers to drive clean and it'll end up a dodgem chapionship at the first corner.

Good point there KSaiyu 👍
I wonder if PD can come up with some good and fair rules.

"Syntax error," either PD specifically stated that they couldn't get online functionality working, or they weren't ready to release it just yet. There's still little reason to compain either way. I'm sure PD knew what they were doing and didn't disappoint. After all, what was the key issue about GT4? Online play. People didn't care about the game itself since they thought it was going to be a rehash of GT4 and... oh yeah, with online play. People misjudged what was actually important and focused on one optional feature, and look what happened. Now a year after GT4's release, they got their shot at online play. And you're absolutely right. People are going to complain and gripe, but at least two PD products are forthcoming- Tourist Trophy and then Gran Turismo 4: Online Edition. When G4 covers E3, I can hear it now:

"This is Gran Turismo 4: Online Edition. Yeah, you heard me. GT4... ONLINE. It's about time, PD! Everything you loved (or hated) about GT4 is all here for you, plus you can do it all online." -sample G4 report on GT4: Online Edition by someone like Adam Sessler, Morgan Webb, or maybe even Laura Foy or Kevin P... that guy.

I believe in "better late than never." Don't you want to at least give PD credit for coming out with this online-enabled version so the "we want online" people can shut up and race already? I'll likely get this game to see what I can do with this game vs. the old build.

Would you sell the old GT4 and keep the online-enabled one, even if you aren't going to use the online component? Why or why not?

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to online play and appreciate the effort PD even went to, to make sure it becomes a reality... I'm just having my ***** and moan at the stagnated release of an add-on which ultimately should have been part of the game in the first place. Almost reminds me of a certain company’s antics cough*Microsoft*cough.

Especially since there is another PD title release this year as well as Vision on our horizon already I defiantly have plenty to keep me off the streets and out of trouble, I was just expressing my displeasure at having to depart with even more money…. (well I’ve resigned to the fate that it will occur with every PD release).

Midnight Club 3 Remix = An example other developers should follow. 👍 👍

I personally am not exited by it, I race online all the time on my PC, but I just don't think I'll have any need for it by the time it arrives. I'll probably have a PS3 by then and be enjoying that, I've already done everything I want to do in GT4 and rarely pick it up any more. I just don't see any possible reason why I'd want GT4:O other than to race online, which I can and do do in plenty of other sim racers.

I think it's safe to say so. Here in the States, we have a chain store called Circuit City. They had the PS2 Network adapter on sale a few months ago for $19.99. I went to get one but they were out, and they said they'll never have that item back in stock.

Another article about GT4-O at E3...

When someone asked if GT4 was a Beta, a number of people said that it is. Does this online component complete the series, or is it still a "beta?"

it would be a little beta if it had online play

Hmm...I wonder what driving sim live4speed enjoys playing online on his PC...

The one thing GT4 offers that PC sims don't is the ability to choose from hundreds of licensed cars, and the ability to race on a fairly large variety of real-world tracks... :indiff:

This one is bad.

Just a day after the confirmation of GT4OE showing on E3 (as it will be published in the April issue of PSM magazine) another source has claimed that SCEE has actually ditched the Online Edition project few days ago.

In the light of this news I'll sustain from any futher posting on this subject untill official validation of any of the two informations.

I had this username over on supercars.net long before Live for Speed S1 was in development ;). Though I do enjoy LFS, my username and the game are not connected.

Well, keep us posted... let's hope it ain't so...

I'm unlikely to buy the game myself anyway, since I no longer have broadband at home, and I generally suck at online games anyway... but it would be a severe blow to the PS2 racing genre to have it's flagship software title trailing in the wake of all the Xbox titles (like Forza and PGR3) that are already online - would be a great shame if PD and/or Sony fail to deliver after all this time.:guilty:

I wouldn't be suprised if that was true, it all seems too late, not enough people have network adapters either imo.

Everyone who wants live racing with humans, come to the UKGT party! :D

[/Shameless plug]

Please, tell me that you ate some croatian mushrooms and this information is false.:ouch:

In the US the PSM mag says that GT4OE will be playable at E3, along with other tidbits about PS3. Here's hoping that it's a reality, I'd rather play GT4 Online right now, than have to wait the excruciatingly long time before GT5 launches. Yes I'd pay full price for it too, heck it's free online gameplay, one price at purchase and nothing else but your internet access is required, for those who have PSTWO.

Maybe, if they are pulling the plug it's an indication that GT5 is closer then we think...

Think about it, they are not going to re-release an old game just so it has online play, if GT5 is just around the corner.
