demon of speedI want the chair.
ExigeExcelCouldn't they have a TOCA style view which was actually inside the car. You could see the driver shifts and steering. It wasn't very good because you could hardly see the track, but it was still great fun.
Do you race?Bonnet-cam would be too hard to pull off. Imagine the space required to do that for 650+ cars ...
It's about $1,000 (US Dollars), not including the DFP and is from Logicool...which I believe to be associated with Logitech in someway & is located in Asia (Japan?)
GiancarloThat's probably because he's a real racer.
tha_conProblem with a cockpit cam is that it takes away what SHOULD be viewed...the road.
It is impossible to simulate periphial vision on a television screen, and adding MORE to clutter the screen and get rid of what is to be seen just makes things harder. It would be nice to see for replays, but useless otherwise, it would just be some stupid gimmick for a driving simulator. This is a game where you need to see as much as possible to judge everything, from competitors to the upcoming corners etc. If you cannot see everything because of a "cockpit" then that really does take away. And anyone who says "well you can learn to use it"...that's just stupid...that's like buying a bike with one wheel, then saying "well I can learn to use it"....it's nothing that's needed for practical applicationn a video game.
SchuberTThe main problem I see is, like mentioned before, how much more work and space it would take to make an in-car view. All 700+ cars would need unique interiors, and they would have to be modeled in order not to look too fake.
kinigittthat's why it would be an option, not the default view. 👎
I quite like the one in GTR and LFS, you can move your head from side to side, and it makes the game more engaging. You can see the opponents just fine (they're called mirrors buddy).
It's about immersion and enjoyment of the game, because, you know, there are some people that like that sort of thing in a simulator . If there were weather effects in GT (another thing that eventually has to find it's way into the series), the visibility is reduced, as well as during night-time driving.
Pretty much every simulator I've ever played has featured an in-cockpit camera view, from flight sims to Mech games (though you can't really simulate something that's imaginary, but you get my point).
Don't like it? Don't use it. Just don't jump into a conversation spewing gibberish like that.
tha_conYour attached images prove my point. When you look at a TV screen your visibility is limted to a square (or rectangle depending on TV). But the fact that people do IN cab views takes away nearly HALF of what you can view. In "real life" this is not the case, in fact when you drive you have to glance down to see your speedo and other guages, because your eye's are readily fixed on the road ahead of you.
