Not a new member...and not really a new drifter as such. Just an old drifter that never introduced himself lol.

Anyways, yes, been practicing for months and have improved about the same distance as an asthmatic ant with heavy shopping would cover in about 1 minute...which isn't all that far. But, never know I may be able to one day boast about a few drifting videos, hopefully GT4 will still be the "GT" of the moment by then >.<.

Hey I just saw tokyo drift:idea: and im 32% done with the game so i thought id start learning how to use drift to my advantage in certain races. Also I was trying to beat a one make race when my car kept drifting, so i really need to learn in order to beat this game.

Well Correct me if im wrong but, most of us here drift for show, not speed, were all about technique, style, angle, and control.

You might find some speed drifters but to my knowlegde there arnt many. :)

anyways, welcome new guys!
just remember to read the stickies, they will help!

Hi everyone. New to the forums, obviously. I've been playing GT4 since release, albeit on my friends' consoles. :P I only recently noticed PS2s were getting cheaper and picked up one + GT4 the other day.

I've just been getting through the game's races at the moment but I've been learning to drift with the S2000 that's in Swift/Boundary Layer's FR guide. I'm slowly getting the hang of it... :P Anyway, I hope to post here regularly, so I guess I'll see you around. ;)

Welcome Pottseh!

What's this? A new member that read the stickies/guides BEFORE they asked questions? Is that legal? :dopey:

Well done Pottseh, I'd say you're off to a very good start. 👍

Haha. Yeah, I've been reading guides at GTPlanet well before now since I've been fairly interested in the GT series (despite only ever playing the games elsewhere) and what is possible in-game. That, and I know how frustrating it is for forum staff to deal with new members not reading stuff. :P

That S2000 setup is crazy, by the way. I'm still all over the place at the moment, and I think the big advantage I've got is I've now memorised Grand Valley Speedway's layout. :P But that setup really does help me get some stuff going. I'll probably move to another track soon to see if I've really learned anything. :)

To be honest, grand valley is a fairly advanced course for drifting. You may want to go to Trial Mountain or Midfeild to get things rolling. But, if GV is working for you, keep at it! Just remember, throttle control will make or break your drift.

Yeah, I did have a bit of a bash on Trial Mountain, though I didn't really get far into it.
I figured Grand Valley would be harder than other tracks. Some pretty tight corners that aren't beginner-friendly. :/ Buuuut, I'll keep at it. My problem at the moment seems to be exiting drift, which is probably a problem with reducing countersteer - the car snaps back most of the time and I spin out. Haha. I'm working on that at the moment.

Hmm...that would sound to me like more of a throttle control issue. As you come to the exit try one of or both of these techniques. Upshift, this lowers the amount of torque and makes it smoother to recover. Less throttle, just for an instant let the throttle down and this could smooth it out as well. OF course with this, timing is everything. upshift too early and the drift ends in a very boring way, too late and it's useless.

I hope that helps out.

Hello, I can't say I drift in GT4 just yet (borrowing from a friend soon) but I'm working at it on GT3. A few days have passed and I'm using sheron's settings for the S13. It's working out quite well, I use the brake technique because unlike most new drifters I find the handbrake very sloppy and often projects you too far. The only problem I have (sometimes) is that on longer drifts (ie grand valley tunnel) is I either grip or just turn into the wall. I think it's due to throttle control right? Yea, I'm still working on that.

im a new member i started drifting b4 i registered and i drift in real life it takes alot of practice and im tryn to devop my drift skills in gt4
