New owners of F1?

Yeah, F1 has been sold. I’m still kinda confused as to who owns what, though. From what I’ve read, I think Bernie still owns his 25% share, or has even increased it, and that he will probably be signing a new management contract to put him in control.

This is good news, though. Hopefully the new owners and the GPMA can enter into some constructive negotiations and F1 can finally start to move forward.

i think it was grandprix.com that mentioned how the CVC, or whatever it's called, had made motogp into what it is today and that this new ownership may exploit the potential F1 has.

Well it will be hard to make a quick profit out of F1, so the only sensible thing to do would be to develop it into something more cost-effective.

i'm thinkin'/hopin' that f1 becomes more approachable and becomes more stable.

in an issue of F1racing mag they had an article about the differences between nascar and f1. it showed how nascar was really welcoming to the fans at races. making the drivers, equipment, technology more accessable can only make things better.

here in the US, football (nfl), basketball and baseball are the major sports and one thing that i always notice that's different between those sports and f1, is the way things are structured. i'm talkin' about how they organize their owners, players, and governing body.

i can never get a grip as to who runs what in f1. bernie is the head honcho, but what does he really do? max is head of the FIA, which is the governing body but doesnt bernie do his job?

in american sports there's a comissioner who is the #1 guy. all rules and regulations go through him as he is the governing body. below him and his people are the owners of the teams and below them are the players and the players union.

in f1, i have no clue. bernie does what? max does what? where are the team owners? what say do the track promoters have? what about the drivers? do they have a union? f1 seems to gun-ho.

i really really hope that the CVC brings stability to things and puts things into order. simplifying the food chain, i think, would help a lot of people understand what happens, when. also, how about a standard set of rules that everyone has access to?

Yeah, it really annoys me that I cannot get my hands on the Concorde agreement. :grumpy:

I agree with much of what you’re saying, though. The fans should be able to get closer to the technology etc. that makes F1 work. That’s why I like the idea that alot of people are using, which is putting F1 theme parks at circuits, with simulators, museums, rides, kart tracks etc. This can bring the fans much closer to the action and turns extra proffit, too.

I think bernie is a good guy.

He turned F1 around from the late 70's to what it is today.

Im happy with the job he has done.

Nice so now they own 2 of the strongest motor racing championships, F1 and Moto GP. Seeing what they have done with the latter, the future looks pretty for F1. :)

Bernie must be smiling too.
