New round of Travian, anyone?

I like Tribal Wars better!
Played that once.

Gave up after two days. Visuals (if you can say a webgame has visuals  ) are much better than that of Travian, but that's nothing a decent GP can't fix :sly:

I've messaged the last 3 because they all attacked me within a day.
And...?

Are they getting any bounty?

Do you have one up to level 10 so you can build additional ones?

The alternative is only ever having enough resources to 66% fill (or less) your cranny(ies) [if Teuton] ;)

I guess I should have said another village instead of second village. :D

I have two completely seperate villages.

1) Don't bother trying to train any troops. It won't work. Rather, IGM the guy raiding you and ask why he's doing so. He might think you're inactive.

2) When someone gets a level 3 embassy...

I got my level 2 Embassy today.. Look for a level 3 in the next day or two. I'll make it known once the alliance is set up.

I was doing a few raids with my 3 Phalanx... I ran into an active guy. I now have one left.
Oh well, they were eating too much crop anyway.

46 Population, 20/24/17/3 production currently. Once I get my crop and iron up to speed, I'll start on that embassy.

I've joined again. I remember playing before, so I'm not an absolute newbie, but I've forgotten almost everything. ;)

Username: GTJames
Location: Northwest - -100, 106
Tribe: Gauls

Income:
Lumber: 14
Clay: 15
Iron: 11
Crop: 6

Population 15.

Currently have a lvl 3 Cranny (will be advancing to 4 pretty soon), a Granary, and lvl 2 Main building. I'm going to focus on creating as much resources as possible before my 3 day protection ends (still on day 1) - no troops. I can always build them later when I start earning a lot.

Is this the right direction to take?

I'm building up my resources also. The more resources you make the easier it will be to make troops. Just make sure the cranny(ies) is(are) big enough to hold all your resources and keep the scavengers away.

I read some of the old war threads on the gtp-r forum. Ahh... the good ol'
days.

The alliance has formed!

Alliance name: GTP

Anyone who posted their playername in this thread willl be invited - If I missed you, then apply!

Azuremen, TB, Tophat, and FieroGT: You've not indicated your ingame names, yet. Once you do so, I'll invite you.

I am residing in a local alliance at the moment, as it offers a slightly more serious look.

Anyhow, my travian name is the same here. I always use Azuremen for everything.

My ign is fierogt and b0bcrkr.

Is sharky the only mod on the gtp-r forum? I built forums for one of the other old servers (s3 or 4?) if you want me to help. It was the same type forum.

Is that an admin-only thing, or can I help with that?

I'm just thinking that a forum cleanup might be a good idea - Get rid of some old threads, spam members etc.

So, is anyone else other than FieroGT going to join the alliance?

If not, I'm going to consider moving elsewhere.

Once I get up and running and have the people around me subjugated, I will. However, localized efforts are probably better off, if just for the illusion of protection.

BTW, how is everyone doing for production?

Production:
Lumber: 42 per hour
Clay: 48 per hour
Iron: 36 per hour
Crop: 27 per hour

I was actually going to consider applying for your alliance, Azure. That, or one other one that was somewhat localised.

Production:
Lumber: 28
Clay: 24
Iron: 24
Crop: 11

Population: 55

I dunno where everthing's gone...
What kind of buildings have you got up, Azure?

I'm at:
Barracks 1
Cranny 1
Warehouse 1
Rally Point 1
Marketplace 1
Granary 1
Embassy 3
Main Building 3

Ah. That makes more sense now.

I think I've made a slight tactical error by putting up the buildings that I have - It would have been more efficient to get my resource production up and then concentrating on the structures.

I just tossed up a Granary and Merchant so I can trade when I need to, and to reduce the risk of getting stuck waiting on something.

Economy is key early on unless you have good farms as a Teuton. And those guys often lose steam later on if they are not careful.

I was starting to go the way of farming, but I'd made myself broke by training up a few phalanx to go raiding... And losing them. I yeilded less than one Phalanx worth of loot.

I think I'm going to leave the troops at 0 for now - Once my resources have stabilised at a higher level and I can afford to train and feed troops properly, I'll take another go at it.

You need at least 7 phalanx I think before they are safe on random raids. I'm going to wait on troops till I can build swords fairly comfortably and do light raiding with them. Thunders will be used to punish silly teuton players.

It feels like its going so slow this time around. Maybe I'm just not as patient as a was two years ago.

Does anyone else feel like its slower?

Question...

Since I'm being attacked fairly often now (thankfully lost nothing after each), if I were to make troops would they eventually die trying to defend the villiage? Obviously they might, but it would be fairly annoying if they did since I'd never build up troops.
