This was one of the hardest projects I have ever done so far. Trying to fit 5" gauges in 4.5" space was very difficult and time consuming. The gauge pod is 16 gauges and I had to cut all the holes with a hole saw.
The brackets to bolt this in are fully adjustable and required many mock ups to perfect.
The tach works but I still have to wire the speedo and the other gauges. All the gauges are electronic. The speedo is just 2 wires and will be easy.
I really hope this is something else that no one has ever done.

Here is what it looks like so far at night. I plan on adding a few more interior lights. Sorry for the blury pics.

Very nice 👍

Which car is that in? Is that the Camaro? The interior looks very modern!

Damn that looks really good. Well I'm impressed :D.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys. :D I am glad to see that people from this site appreciate the hard work.

Yes that is all in my 69 Camaro. Yes you are right it is all modern 2002 Trans Am interior that I installed myself. Its also the same as my avatar. Thanks for the compliments. I hated my old interior.

ExigeExcel,
The speedo is electronic and will be completely accurate. I hope to get videos of all the gauges in action once I get everything hooked up.

HA!... I'm late as well - Awesome work mate - looks very very good !....

And please - Keep the primer 👍

Thanks a lot :D When I get all the gauges working 100% I will remove the old ones by the console and install my stereo again and take a good pic of all of it for you to see. 👍

VERY nice dude ! Its quite trippy seeing the mean machine fromt he exterior, and then seeing the modern interior...Looks Awesome !

Nice work! I like the look of the gauges, sort of reminds me of the gauges in the Viper.

Also, I really like the idea of a modern interior in a classic muscle car; although the Camaro purists probably hate that idea. Nice momo steering wheel!

i have not seen a interior like that in a old muscle car, good thinking <8- ) the guages look great. i can't really tell but is that two more gauges on the center cosole? since you are located in MI i might as well ask, do you ever go to martin with that?

Thanks a lot for the compliments. I am the first person to do a lot of things to an old muscle car. I try to be as original as possible to really stick out in a croud. As for the gauges in the center console, those are the old cheap ones that I have setting there termporarily until I have my new gauges fully wired. The new ones are all electronic and take a little more work than the old cheap gauges. As soon as I get all the sending units I will video tape all of them in action. And I will shift my car thru all 6 gears to prove I have a 6 speed transmission. Some people still find that hard to believe too. ;)
Nope dont go to marting but I go to Gingerman Raceway and the Woodward Dream cruise.

Good work! 👍 It seems all this work will be worth it in the end. I can see some people will become jealous when they see the amount of work you've done to it. :D

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I am very impress with your hard work on your interior! 👍 This is a good way to get an old car to feel more modernized so your car will never feel old. :O

Get a video of your gauges in action at night! I want to see the lights! :O

Thanks again for the positive feedback.
I am currently working on the gauges. I am getting my windshield removed so I can work on a transition piece to mold the old dash into the new dash. I am going to use 16 gauge steel for that too. I want to install it so there arent any screws or anything showing. Hopefully I will have that done real soon. THen I will install my stereo again. Remove the old gauges down by the console, then take a nice pic of everything.
Then finally some video of the gauges lit up at night fully functional. There are only a few things left before I paint it. :)

Mclarens Angel. I will get videos at night next.
MAJOR UPDATE 7/27/05
Dash transition piece is in, stereo is in, and here are some videos of my Autometer gauges in action as promised.
I took the original 69 Camaro defroster vents and put them in the center of this piece I made out of 20 gauges steel. I might eventually cover it in leather. All gauges work 100%!!

Videos reached bandwidth(LOOK A FEW POSTS DOWN FOR VIDS OR IN FIRST POST)

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I think your links are dead or exceeded its band thingy. :odd:

The more I look at your car's dash the more I fall in love with it! :O I just can't stop imagining how awesome it is to have out of date dash replaced by a modern design so your car will never feel OLD! :O

Yeah, videos are dead.

I couldn't find a way to comment on your seemingly quite long shift lever without making a double entendre. So, um... yeah.

Other then the cheapy looking knobs and the now-mismatched doors, it looks really good. Very impressive accomplishment.

Thank you so much Mclarens Angel. :D Yeah the videos bandwith was exceeded right away so I will re-host them later today and post night pictures. It is nice sitting in brand new interior but it has also been a LOT of work!

Emohawk,
As I stated the interior is not completely finished but getting closer. I will try to answer your questions and I appreciate your detailed question layout.
The knobs that you think are cheap are 2002 knobs and they came with the dash and are in all 2002 trans am interiors.
I havent covered the doors in leather yet to match the rest of the car. Im getting there but I concentrated on the most important stuff first. As for the windows I will be installing power windows in the future. Remember, this is a work in progress and is getting closer and closer every year just takes money. The airbag is not functional but could be with wire hook ups. More than likely I wont mess with it. Despite how the shifter looks, it is not long at all. Mabey 8" at the most. I appreciate the feedback. :)
