So old it deserves a new thread. This is a fantastic car thats set to beat the 911 at it's own game and with the people on board Aston have on this Ithink it just might win.

It has all that it needs to be better than an 911!

Starting with:
Better looks and the engine is in the front and not in the arse.

The latest EVO mag has a review of the V8 Vantage. They seem to like it, even though they had indifferent reviews of the DB9 when it came out which Aston disliked. On the track however, they ran it against a 997 and it wasn't rated as high as the Porsche was.

It looks pretty good, but the glass area seems very small - i bet it can be quite clostrophobic in there.

The sad part is, deep down it is still a Ford. I don't think I could bring myself to buying if I had the money. Looks cool though.

It doesn'tuse Ford parts, neither does the DB9. Thats like saying a Ferrari 360 is a Fiat.

The better looks is debatable, and the RR setup gives great handling.

Yeah the looks are personalpreference, but I think more people would say this looks better than a 911. An RR setup does give good handling, however to get the best you really need to know what your doing or the cars back end is gone. That been a criticism of many a high performance 911 over the years. Pro's and con's I guess, like most things.

Like bananaphones.

Pros- It's a banana AND a phone

Cons- It'll go rotten eventually.

, not what I had in mind, but something like that.

I value this above all other cars lookswise, except this beauty.

I know its doesn't use ford parts, but think about it...it has the ford name behind it.

Exactley, the fact the Ford finances Aston Martin isn't a bad thing, it means Aston has the cash to do what it want's to do and make cars with parts they have builtfor them, not recylcled Mondeo parts on an old Jaguar Chassis. Aston Martin is not Ford, it's one of the most prestigous brands in the Automotive world.

ultrabeat, thats cool for you, theres plenty that share that view.Mine is that the DB9 is THE mopst beautiful car ever made.

Ford doesn't just finance aston martin..
they used to be built in ford factories.....They just "roped off" an area of the factory for AM.....

Enzo's were never built anywhere but the ferrari plant....so....yea

Pfft. I think Ford's doing a great job managing Aston Martin. They are there to back up, and not trying to "ford" up the Astons. And without Ford they would've gone bust.

I don't think it's a bad thing if a sportscar manufacturer is owned by a big company.
Ferrari isn't a Fiat because it's owned by the FIAT Group, nor is the Maserati an Alfa-Romeo or Lotus a Proton.

Anyways, I'd take the AMV8 over a 911 anyday (if I had that kinda money that is). I think it's absolutely magnificent looks-wise, it's rarer and from what I've heard, it's quite a good handler.

What does that have to do with anything? Astons are hand-built cars anyway.

Aston Martins are built in their own purpose built factory in Gaydon and have been for a couple of years now. Before that they were built in Bloxham. There are no Fords built in Gaydon, none, nada, zero, zip and never have been. However you look at it, Aston's arn't Fords, Lamborghini's arn't Audi's, Lotus' arn't Proton's, Maserati's arn't Ferrari's and Ferrari's arn't Fiat's.

Evo did point out that the AMV8 seemed almost to be a cheap version of the DB9. The neccesaries were there but the little things were missing.

Looks good, I'd take one over a 911. Hoep to see an AMV8 on the road soon.

Error! Error!

aren't

And there's only one Aston I'd ever take...

I disagree with that. The DB9 is a big grand tourer, this is a more focused sports car.

I agree, it's not meant to have as much as the DB9, that also goe'ssome way to explaining the fact it costs 20 grand less :dunce: whoever wrote that article. It's meant to be comfey and it is, but it's not meant to weigh as much or have as many extra features and stuff.

I love how seriously you guys take me, come on lighten up .
