It was real life, and it's pretty easy to tell the difference imo. GT5's graphics are great and everything, but they still look like a game. There's no more than 16 cars in any of the GT5 shots.
Totally agree - like I said in my previous comment in this thread, the graphics (in this case) are way too clean and clinical. Still looks great, but where the environments are concerned, there is a long way to go.

Just downloaded and played the NASCAR 09 game to check the competition .

graphics look like a PS2 game but Physics wise not that bad ,you can really feel you are driving a 800 hp beast but what a lame game.

Oh and starting 3:09 there is our first glimpse of the Texas speedway in GT5

The only tracks I saw in the "game play" shots were Daytona and Indy.

You can clearly tell when they are at Texas in game, I don't remember what time, but there is a scene that i think is shown twice, where Jimmie Johnson's car is moving down the track sideways is the corner, I'm pretty sure that's Texas.

EDIT: Nevermind, I watched the video again, and that is Daytona.

Well... I have to say that on my 47" LG that it's frankly not that easy to tell, even with Prologue. The TT demo is a bit nastier, but even it is uncannily lifelike. Yeah, if you know it's a game and look for the telltale signs, the illusion thins, but you have to remember how many people walk in on a Prologue replay and think The Speed Channel is on.

And hey, as far as graphics go, that's all that matters to most of us. Add realistic car behavior to that, and you have a class beating game. 👍

What I think the most exciting thing about the video was that the pit lanes look lively and there is an actual atmousphere being created which we have never had before in Gran turismo.

I'm not going to lie, when i heard that NASCAR was going to be in the game i was gutted. Im from the UK so its not so big here. but looking at that video im starting to think that its something i might really really enjoy.

first post :)

Even if you don't like Nascar, I don't understand how learning it will be a feature (among many) in a game you like with make you 'gutted'?

Well to be fair, he did say he "was" gutted. Can't really see where he mentions that learning it will make him gutted.

None, Speed Channel hardly shows good racing anymore. :)

When he heard GT had Nascar he was gutted, 'was' means he isn't gutted now but he was then. I don't get how Nascar can make you gutted unless the game was to focus on Nascar and that isn't the case.

*I will just point out I am not a Nascar fan, I do have respect for it epecially after playing Nascar racing season so much (made by the same guys who make iracing) and I do look forward to taking some Nascars on tracks like Nurburgring.

Why are all the cars Chevy Impala's? I thought Dodge, Ford and Toyota all had NASCAR chassis? I don't watch NASCAR so I don't really know the teams , so maybe all the teams they've show thus far do just rock a Chevy.

There are Toyotas in the video. If you look close, you'll see the 11 fedex Toyota and the 55 Napa Toyota. And yes, Dodge and Ford do also have Nascar cars as well, they just aren't shown, not yet at least.

Whats so appealing about NASCAR, is it really that popular in the states? i don't get it, whats so great about cars going in circles which im sure they've heard this many times before, the only thing spectacular about it from my point of view are the crashes but that's endangering lives, I hope this isn't the reason why so many people in America are attracted to it

Someone doesn't know their geometry.
