PD might have to accommodate broader player's skill range, hence the obligatory SRF, my 1st guess. They must have feared that without SRF forced on, many will be put off by the so called "expert level seasonal" difficult racing with changing weather. We know, players can use SRF if they need or want to ( when they can't win without it ) , but it seems PD assumes that we are mindless drone who can only play well if guided with greyed out option.

With that decision, the rest of us who do not need or want to use SRF will have to suck it up  To lessen the SRF effect, don't slide the tires too much :sly:

In all Seasonals outside of TT's, all aids should be allowed as an OPTION, not mandatory. Aids are in the game and everywhere else in the game we have the option of using them or not, except in the Christmas Seasonal. They don't belong in the TT's because they are supposed to simulate real world driving hotlap tests, not arcades games but I also believe the TT's should have a couple of different divisions, including one with all Aids, and one with no Aids. The current set up is a bastardized mixture and I'm not really fond of it.

Same goes for BB on the TT. It's an option everywhere in the game to adjust brake balance, on the fly if necessary, but not on this one TT. Why? What's the reasoning behind this? It makes no sense.

Don't tell me how to play the game PD, just throw out the options and let me choose.

What I'm doing is something called retaliation.

Which is why I said you need to do a lot of growing up. Retailating against words on a screen is pretty lame.

Not calling you out but just curious, is it preferable to do endless rounds of 400-500pp road cars on Comfort Softs? I am enjoying this seasonal a lot, and I hope running with ABS off makes me somewhat hardcore ;) Seems to me PD are trying to meet everyone's demands but they're always going to let someone down (I've skipped many Seasonal events lately myself). We're probably never going to have good AI in GT5 so we're stuck chasing the rabbit and nerfing our own car (but at least now we get rewarded more for doing that). I just wish they'd put La Sarthe in there more often.

See what I said above. I never said anything about the types of Seasonals. Of course we need more variety, but to force the entire community to use an aid that many people consider "arcade like" in a so called "driving simulator" is ridiculous. Make it optional, let us decide.

Managed to get 2nd place at Suzuka with a Castrol (honda) NSX. Everyone pitted but the leader which is what got me the second place DAMIT!

Amen. Definitely a loud WTF?? moment to see it required.

I re-ran Nurb in my G37 with hards, still won but SRF was really getting on my nerves. Changed my mind about the replay value unfortunately. Next...

Which may explain why some of the challenge was taken out.

BTW, otakukid96, why do you have such a grudge against us who don't use aids in our driving? I only use ABS on its weakest setting and everything else off (although I can drive without ABS), so what does that make me? Driving without any aids is a good challenge; it gave me a whole new picture on how to control cars in this game.

Back to the topic, I won the Suzuka Super GT race in my ARTA NSX and the C7 Corvette TT (my lap time here is probably worse than yours).

Done the Suzuka and Nurburgring events too now. Suzuka I use the HSV-010, and dominated. Rain doesn't really do much with SRF on, so I won by over a minute. Love that car!

Nurburging I used the GT-R Black Edition from GT Academy, and made a mistake in not pitting at the end of the second lap. Still won by a minute, but it was pretty slippy even with Racing Softs. I think without SRF on these would have been more of a challenge, especially with the rain on all of them. Still enjoyed Spa and Suzuka lots though.

Quick point: SRF, while an option alongside the driver aids, is not an aid. It's a cheat, a hack, a kludge. It completely bypasses the in-game physics to allow things that in the admittedly imperfect world of GT5 physics, are impossible. None of the actual aids do (or at least, are intended to do) that. GT5 is advertised as a driving simulation. SRF throws the simulation component out the window in favor of playability as a game. Naturally, some people who thought they were buying a sim have a problem with this.

@ otakukid96, your signature says it all

Having an option like SRF not optional any more is puzzling, espeacially in a TT with weather change. weather change is interesting because the grip will vary during the event, but with SRF, the game will compensate automaticaly, negating the effect.
What were they thinking? Are they thinking?

Very easy races. I won the Spa race in a 650 PP 2J on inters. Lapped all but two cars.
Above 80% track water it seemed like the back end wasn't on rails!

For the Nordschleife race i used a C6 Z06 on inters.
I couldn't get the back end out, even in second gear!

Finally some races with decent distance, weather, and tire-wear.
Such a shame the SRF ruins the experience of actually driving a car with four wheels connected to the track

One step forward two steps back 👎

8,2 million per race on Eiffel ain't bad though.

At my first attempts I wasn't that good.

5th at Suzuka in the HSV-010, it rained from lap 4 to lap 8 and some of the field pitted but I stayed out on Racing Softs but it wasn't enough.

Spa was even worse. Started on RS and stayed out too long, then slid all over the place and incurred loads of shortcut penalties. Finished 15th in the end and only because someone pitted.

Spa you want to pit in at the end of lap 3 if you start on Racing Softs and switch to Intermediates, thats what worked for me. Just got to go easy on the throttle and brake earlier than you think in the rain.

I was so disappointed to find that SRF was compulsory in these seasonal races. I have no objection to anyone using whatever they feel is necessary in order for them to enjoy the game but I hate having options forced on me.....come PD, things like SRF should be a choice left to an individual to select or not.

The races were mind numbingly easy :grumpy:

At least the TT is giving me some enjoyment even if I am a mile off the pace

PD gets a double 👎👎

@iainn start Spa on intermediates and stay on them until the end. I won by over 2 minutes using the R8!

Spa in the 2J starting on Inters, but the track dried up quicker than last time, so I guess the weather isn't totally predictable this time!

Should have pitted for slicks with the leaders, but didn't and finished 5th in the end.

Still, that means I'm only 56,677 XP of level 40 now!

Alrighty then, here is my 2 cents...... Fired up the first race with the Lambo and finished 4rth. PD met me at the finish line and and said "Hey buddy, I have something for you", and promptly handed me my failbot ticket. :banghead: This is gonna be an insane seasonal. I can't wait to fire up the PS3 again when I have more time.

As for the people who truly beleive that Aides should not be used at all, remember this: Not all players have hours and hours of free time to hone thier racing skills to a razors edge. Not everybody is as hardcore as you. My 8 year old plays and he couldn't get around the Nurb without aides. As for myself, I run ABS @ 1 and thats about it. Let the player decide what help they need. To state that you are worthless or undeserving if you use them is ludicrous. Try using your head for more than a hat rack next time.

Struggling here...not to win, but to even find a car to race with.
Won Suzuka with no problem, I even enjoyed it very much. However, I can't seam to find a car for Nurburgring...

The game shows that my EVO IX RM is legible to enter, and yet, when I try to, it wont.
Any recommendations guys? What are you running with on this one? I would personally like a 4WD car with around 500PP.

Fun races even with the SRF crap. Must be Christmas or something.
The weather-changes in these races seems to be scripted, so we all get exactly the same amount of rain at the same time (for those of you who thought you were unlucky - you're not, you're just lousy ;-)).
Don't forget to download your free Corvette from the store guys.
After doing the time trial I think I can say that the Corvette is to a Ferrari as a rapist is to Casanova? Up for an argument anyone? ;-)

I've read this entire thread, and I didn't see anyone claim that aids should never be used. Not sure where you got that one. People are upset that they're being forced to use SRF. Your comment is a BS strawman, if you ask me.

My bad man, they were called a joke in this thread, and worse in others. But, I'm not asking you.

RM doesn't count as normal or Tuned I guess, odd

If you did GT Academy, use the GT-R Black Tuned edition at 600PP, that was an easy win for me, AWD too.

Sorry, but since you posted that comment in this thread, I kinda assumed it was in response to something...you know...in this thread. My mistake I guess.

No worries man. Hafta run now, lunch time is over. I'll be back on later tonight after I tried running them a few more times.

When did you guys pit on suzuka? and what did you change to?

I didn't have a need to pit on Suzuka running on RS tyres, used the premium Nissan Yellowhat Supra I think, hard to remember as it was over 12 hours ago. Track never got wet enough to affect the tires too much.

Me neither. Struggled for the last 3 laps as the surface was 50% wet, but still won by 40 seconds over the 2nd place.

I know this game has a lot of Nissan cars, but I can promise you that there isn't such thing as a Nissan Supra. :sly: There is, however, a Nissan GT-R and a Toyota Supra with the same main sponsor, Yellowhat.

It can be tricky but keep going mate and you'll get it eventually, I had the same problem with the C7 time trial and took me an hour or so to get that out the way. :(

Was annoyed cause i got up to 8th after 4 laps, then kept losing it :(

I thought for sure that I read in the description of these events that they were expert challenges. If thats the case, I must be a friggin' alien because I won them all easily. Appreciate the weather change and the length of each race, but come on. Expert? Really? At least the prizes are decent. Just have to go back with some underpowered cars for a challenge I guess.
