In other words, it makes cars undrivable to the point where we have to drive slower than we usually would. 👎

Eh? SRF makes the cars easier to drive and reduces lap times

GT 500: Suzuka Circuit / 10 Laps

Bought a Nismo GT-R.

The cars start half a lap in front.

You have no way of even catching the 15th car.

Then there are penalties for shortcuts, so all the fun is taken out.

What a joke, I won't be competing, as they say on Dragon's Den...

I. AM. OUT.

Really? No way to catch up to the 15th place car? Then how could I have done that and much more in a Suzuka track tuned NSX then? Am I a god? I must be, and many others here must be too. And why would you cut corners for enjoyment? Not very honourable, if you ask me. Oh yeah, the event is not a joke, YOU'RE a joke for admitting these things.

Exactly.

I'm amazed at how many people don't know what SRF is by now.

For those having difficulty with the non TT events, Use the tunes by Shoe67 on page 7 and the race strategies provided by Argon56 on page 11.

Massive thanks to Shoe67 and Argon56 👍

You're very welcome, glad to have helped. 👍

Did the Nurburgring one first, nice race, did it with the blue Amemiya RX-7 at around 540 pp. Couldn't catch the leader though, ended second at around 30 secs behind. Just don't have enough HP I think to win in this car.

Then I did the Suzuka GT500 race in my Weider Honda HSV at 570pp (thought I needed to go a bit higher than normal since the 350Z was in the race) but without me even noticing it I easily got first around midway through the race. Then I decided to get inters too at lap 8, the 350Z passed me, but in the 2nd corner I passed him again, won by 24 seconds... Next time I either use other tyres (RM or RH instead of RS) or I further decrease the PP of my car. Plan to do it next with my Raybrig NSX at 560 (or 550 PP).

The Corvette time trial was fun too, on my fave track, which helps too.:-) Finally got gold after some tries in which I got close to the golden time, eventually got it.:-)

Still the Spa race to go (and Nurburgring to win), wanna do the Spa with my 787B or R390 GT1. Will tune them down then to get a competitive race. Still thinking about what car to use for the Nurburgring, maybe the blue Amemiya RX-7 again with slightly more power or another car (thinking about the AEM S2000). Too bad the Amuse 350Z can't be tuned to around 550 PP (can only go to around 520-530 or smth) so that one doesn't stand a chance against the Amuse S2000 GT1 that's mostly in the race.

I decided to challenge myself by doing these only using cockpit view, gets tricky in the rain. Now my eyes hurt!

This by far is the BEST challenge to date...love it. Thanks GT for the early xmas present. Got gold and 3 silvers so far. Can't wait to get back at it.

After going through many cars at Circuit De Spa I found the Audi R8 to be the best. All off except ABS 1 of course.

Nub I'm using the BNR34 and running well but I might try the G37 any thoughts?

I used the Calsonic Skyline, all off except ABS1 of course and got it on 2nd try, and yes I'm using a standard joystick controller. I've also been playing for 4 months now so it can be done.

Your nuts doing that in the rain but qudos for making it harder. Good luck.

Argon56 i did some changes in Nurburgring
I used Audi R8 5.2 and i did 2 fast laps with racing soft tyres then I went to pit and I changed my tires with racing soft again .....I won the race very easy with 40 sec ahead

Used max pp just to get the win out of the way. Will experiment later.
I have been using arcade for long enduros with weather change when I made the switch to abs 0 and all other aids off, with sports tires. It took a bit of getting used to SRF and racing tires - feels like alien technology - I think I ruptured an internal organ round 130R!
Would have been nice to have option to turn SRF off.

Suzuka: MOTUL AUTECH GT-R '08 max pp (easy win due to rain/tire glitch)
Nurb: HKS CT230R '08 max pp - did pit every lap (my bad:dunce:) but still won by 20 secs
Spa: premium Jag XJR9 max pp. Started on inters, pitted lap 7 for full wets only for the weather to start drying - stayed ahead of the Judd for final 3 laps on wets thankfully.
Nurb Vette: 7.45.xx on 3rd restart and a very tentative lap - it was more like rally-cross through Wipperman.
Great seasonal!👍

Managed to get gold in the tuned car event at the nurburgring and the spa event so far. I used to think it would be impossible to drive with that view in the rain but now i know the tracks like the back of my hand so its not too bad.

So, in other words, you think cheating is fun because that is exactly what cornercutting/shortcutting is, its cheating. Apparently you're not ready for a big boy game yet. If you want to play like that, I would suggest a more arcade type racing game for you. Maybe try Mario Kart or something along them lines. The penalties are there for a reason. You've already got SRF locked on, what more do you want?

You need to come down off your high horse and realize not everyone is as good as you, he is probably not that good at the game and needs some corner cutting to have a chance at winning. When I got the game on release date I used tcs and abs and rs tires, and I've been playing since gt1. The GT games keep getting more realistic which makes the learning curve steeper, in gt1-gt3 the cars are very loose and slide around every corner but they are still very easy to control, in gt4 it's not even possible to drift a car. The physics of the old games are much more arcade style compared to gt5. Gt5 has sold over 9 million copies so far, how many of those people would you even consider good, maybe 50,000; so that leaves 9 million people who suck at the game. They made this game for all ages and skill levels, not just the elite.

I have been using cockpit (driver) view since getting a wheel, but some of these SuperGT cars have such restricted vision out of the windshield that I am using the roof cam. The rain doesn't bother me so much, as long as I remember to turn on the wipers; but the field of vision out of the window is so narrow that it's difficult to see no matter what Mother Nature throws at me. It seems the GT-R is better, but the Supra and Lexus are horrible.

Well said! Thanks!
I don't try to cheat, but i do occasionally miss a corner just enough to get a penalty. And while not an expert, i am pretty good at the game.

I just re-ran Spa in the GT-R N24 on inters, with stage 3 turbo, full aero and fully customisable gears - only c.620ppts.

Used the pad rather than the wheel and won by over 1 minute.

Reckon you could win that one with 500ppts.

Edit: actually, I think you could win that one on a push bike.

Rubbish, you don't need to cut corners to beat the AI in this game even if you're average.

That's one way to make it more interesting but glad you had a victory. Well done suba 👍

You can win it with a 500 although so far I've only gone as low as a 510pp NSX type R and still won by a very healthy margin. I reckon you could go sub 500pp Stotty, you and the other top guys would have no problem :)

Edit: Ooops my bad, should have read properly, I have NOT won spa in an NSX  I have won the Nurb in it though,. Sorry folks :nervous:

2nd edit: In an effort to recover a little from my error above I have just won Spa with a 590pp FTO super touring car!

i thought the first 2 were easy, messed it up once on te second one because intermediates died during the end of lap 2 i believe. tried the 3rd couple times with different cars, they all slipped and slide 2 much. i think the 787b handled the best for me, will try it again with this car. havent tried the tt yet.

I know this isn't the marketplace, but does anyone have a Gold Chrome chip they one that they are willing to gift or trade? All I won are shades of Matte Blue and a Matte Dark Gray :(

I've been dying for a Gold Chrome for months now! Buying up cars left and right to see if I'll get it through the rare paint reward every 30 cars.

Also, Shoe, your 787B and Gallardo tunes are really something else! Excellence at it's finest! Haven't tried the 3rd tune you posted, but I'm sure it's as great as the other two.

Get lost.

If some people are not as good don't pan them for it.

It must be so amazing to be you.

Idiot.

I wonder when a moderator is going to put a stop to all this nerd raging...haha. Let the GT love flow, man.

But seriously, these aren't the hardest or the easiest. I put them somewhere in the middle. SRF should be an option, like many have said. I'm not sure if PD turned it on intentionally or what, but it shouldn't be greyed out.

I think he's just pointing out that the claim that "You have no way of even catching the 15th car" is utter rubbish. You seemed to be complaining that the event was impossible for anyone to win, and that PD made it too hard.

Either this event is too hard or you're just not at that skill level yet, but you have to pick one. Personally, I'd go with the latter, no offense.

Now, if you want to improve at the game, I'd suggest trying these and other events (and without cutting corners) as that may actually help you become good enough to win these. Giving up is not going to help you improve at all.

Another god here. I managed 12th, 11th, 9th, 3rd and then won. Great fun.

For the Nurb I picked a car at random that I had never driven before, Tommy Kaira ZZII, put on racing hards and set off. Drove three fairly mediocre laps and won by about 20s. That's not what I'd call an expert challenge. With no SRF it might have been a different story but this was so dull I nearly nodded off in lap 3.

The Corvette one is fun though.

Included Argon56's 'strategies' to the Seasonal Events section and will try to continue this trend as new strategies are included, as well as for future events, to eliminate the need for people to scour the entire thread for useful information.
Thanks to Argon56.
