There seem to be a lot of false rumours on the 'net about the next GTA game. There was a false report that it was be a launch title.ND4SPDWell apparently the new GTA will be one of the many first available games for the PS3, haven't you guys been reading about the PS3?
So the next GTA hasn't even been confirmed yet by Rockstar games, never mind that it's going to be a launch title.ps3.ign.comMay 16, 2005 - Despite early reports that claimed Grand Theft Auto would be a PS3 launch title (gotta love that early launch chaos), we have confirmed with our editors at the Sony E3 press event that no new GTA title has been confirmed for Sony's upcoming machine.
What Rockstar did confirm, however, was that it would be supporting the powerhouse system in the future and that it's looking forward to creating living, breathing worlds with the Cell technology
It wouldn't be hard to come up with a new location. Liberty City was only extremely loosely based on New York. Why not make a version of New York and make it more like New York, the way Las Venturas, San Fierro, Los Santos and Vice City were like their cities. All of them had landmarks and locations based on the real cities of Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Miami. They had guys take thousands of photos to recreate famous locations from those cities and tried to capture the overall feeling of a time and place. Liberty City was pretty generic.McLaren F1GTRI would be a bit disappointed if there was no GTA for the PS3, though I couldn't blame Rockstar. After all, where else would they create a new city? They've covered pretty much all the big scenes in the US.
They probably don't have a specific PS3 version of the next GTA game in the works, but I'd be surprised if they weren't doing preliminary research for the next game. Designing 3d models for vehicles, maybe they've already decided on a city to base it on and have researchers taking video and photos, etc. Or they might just have writers and designers working on just concept artwork, trying to decide which way to go with the game. But if Rockstar doesn't have a GTA PS3 in the works, you got to realize, they have a title called Bully in the works, then there's the PSP GTA.
The next American 2 cities I thought of that hadn't been done were Chicago and Detroit.EmohawkI was thinking of a 70's based game. In Chicago or Detroit though, not New York. Any of those would be good.
I definitely think that something should be done about the driver AI. It's one of the most annoying things about San Andreas. The traffic drives around like crazy and makes it really annoying. Half the fun with the traffic is trying to drive around it at high speed and trying to avoid it during police chases, but when your driving at 100mph+ and you're rammed from behind by an 18 wheeler, or when traffic takes turns at 100mph at right angles without slowing down right in front of you, if's just annoying. One very minor thing I think would be nice is turn signals. They would eleminate so many annoying collisions with AI cars.
Jimmy EnslashayWishlist:
- You can actually properly hold up stores again, yet developed better, including banks, etc.
- The ability to enter every building. I wouldn't put this past PS3 technology.
- Ability to store things in the trunk of your car (including bodies), at your house, etc.
- In-car view and first-person view.
- More realism. I'm hungry!
I have an RPG game for PC called Morrowind. In it, every single building is enterable. There are hundreds of houses, castles, taverns, mines, caverns, tombs, temples etc. than can be entered and in different areas of the game world, they have different styles. They still seem a bit cookie-cutter though, much like the safehouses in San Andreas, all very similar designs.Jimmy EnslashayWishlist:

That would be one GTA title I'd probably not buy.KieranMurphyThe next American 2 cities I thought of that hadn't been done were Chicago and Detroit.
With Chicago, the obvious thing to do for a GTA type crime game would be to set in the 1920s prohibition era - with Tommy guns and those old 1920s cars. It wouldn't really be in the spirit of the GTA games, but it could be a good idea for a similar type game.
I agree that the 1970s would be the next obvious era to do. There's plenty of 70s gangster, crime and police movies that could be a good inspiration.

It would be nice to have better crash physics as well. The San Andreas cars look better when crashed than GTA3 and Vice City, with bumpers hanging off the car. But it would be nice if your car deformed after serious collisions - with the front getting squashed etc. or the roof getting bent out of shape if you roll the car.
Also, bring back the stingers that the cops use to pop your tyres. That was a good addition to Vice City, I don't know why they removed it.
It'd also be nice to have a proper tank. The size of a real tank and with proper catterpillar tracks.
Duck!
There are certain things I definitely want realistic in games like realistic graphics (just wait until the next GTA on PS3), historical authenticity (the Medal of Honour games have German soldiers speaking genuine German and the weapons and lots of locations were researched thoroughly for authenticity), semi-realistic car physics (I don't want a driving sim, but I also don't want all the cars to corner like they're on rails), realistic character physics (like ragdoll physics, which unfortunately none of the GTA games has)Jimmy EnslashayI barely ever get the message saying to eat, and it doesn't annoy me. If they don't keep it, I'll be pretty disappointed. As I said when San Andreas was first coming out - the more realism the better.
TwinTurboJayGTA Arkansas !!! RedNeck Edition.
only pick up trucks and tractors....farms equip....you earn the right to run a moonshine operation, earn shooting cars, and beercan shooting ranges...adn hunting helpless animals too..
I got it alot.Jimmy EnslashayI barely ever get the message saying to eat, and it doesn't annoy me. If they don't keep it, I'll be pretty disappointed. As I said when San Andreas was first coming out - the more realism the better.
I think a 1920s Chicago gangster game couild be a pretty cool game, but it just wouldn't be GTA.GrandpaLonghairNo thanks for any GTA set in the 20`s, 30`s, 40`s or probably even 50`s either.
then they should set it in canada, like the territories. With them crazy eskimos, there'll be some crazy snow mobile chases i gurantee you that.donbenniI seriously think they need to get over to the UK and set the next one here. Don't all start mentioning Getaway, it's not like there hasn't been a GTA set in UK before.
I'm getting a bit sick of all the American-ness of the series.
Liberty City is a very poor simulation of New York. Vice City and San Andreas cities are obviously based on Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas, but I had completed GTAIII before I heard someone no a forum mention that Liberty City was based on New York - I had no idea. It doesn't feel like New York at all.TheCrackerFor those who want a GTA set in New York - try GTA III (Liberty City)
GTA is an RPG.KMAnd I don't want to have to eat in a shoot 'em up driving game.
TheCrackerFor those of you who want a 80's GTA - try Vice City
I did, & freakin` loved it. I`m saying I`d take another GTA set in the 80`s, anytime, anywhere.
