^ that's a good sign to me then, because IN MY OPINION FM3's physics (aside from the forced steering help) were much better than GT5's (GT5 physics were still enjoyable).

Plus the comments from the AVforums post give me great confidence, as the guys chatting are long term sim fans, and it seems here I'm seeing comments from the GT5 bias fanclub (duh, it's a GT forum!) :(

If there is any game in the world deserve to be better than GT5 in any way why would i deny that !? Yes i am GT fan but who was not disappointed with GT5 !? Nevertheless no racing game yet can deliver the realistic physics that GT have!

What about the 'elite' handling mode? Running with that or the normal carried over from shift 1 handling mode?

When you start career mode they let you race in a gtr after that race they give you their recommendation for your way of driving , they recommended elite mode for me so i didn't tried any other mode yet, though you can adjust some options even in elite mode like ABS for example ..

I'm expecting a similar game to the original but with even more cars, tracks and events. Graphically, it looks almost identical to me.

I think you won't be disappointed.

The plot thickens. First tracks, now physics. Interesting.

My PS3 version is coming in Wednesday the latest, so I'll be able to comapre both PS3/X360 versions, both with the wheels.

Will make a special wheel-handling overview:

> PS3 with Logitech G25 and Fanatec GT2 CSP, and
> X360 with Fanatec GT2 CSP

Will you get this out by Friday?

You mean no racing game on console? and even then I not sure because there are some that say Race pro is a better sim than GT5

I will do PS3 overview tomorrow evening, since I'll be getting the game during the day.

X360 overview will be done in Thursday, since that is the day I'll be getting an X360 version hopefully.

Thanks fella,

No rose tinted spectacles ok, lol.

@ Everybody who already own the game for PS3, thanks for your initial feedback regarding physics. As you know, one of the most important feature to my needs is a stable frame rate, can you please give me your impressions about it, when you'll try the game again? Thanks

comparable to FM3 but to GT5 ! NO WAY lol

actually considering FM3 as simulation racing is not fair ! it doesn't feel real at all at some points shift2 gives you better realistic feelings while racing

Im truly amazed by this post.... so Shift 2 gives you a better racing feel to Forza 3 but not GT5?

LOL! Considering the racing in F3 is far far better than GT5 i think it's safe to say we need to take your views with a pinch of salt.

Quite liked that vid, the back end seemed realistic when it broke loose.

Just praying for good wheel support.

Seemed odd when ISR went to preview the game that the wheel support wasn't dialled in yet.
As though wheel users were an after thought.

With "racing feel" I think he was still talking about physics and the way the cars handle. As you know, people here use "racing feel" refering to visual feedback and AI competitivness. So I suppose it's just a misunderstanding

Maybe its miss-understanding again maybe not ,

Who here has ever been in a race track weather with his own car or a racing car? 10% of you guys? 20% ? Some of you will get my point directly while am sure some will keep posting silly comments. I mentioned racing for a reason ..

When i was talking about race feel i meant the whole package it self , how the car handles , how the AI acts , Tracks , steering feel , etc. everything. When you compare a racing game to the real life you take few things out of your considerations but at the same time you look closely on some other things that you may never noticed while playing the game because you were playing as a gamer not a racer.. I am not going to let that FM3 vs GT5 go anywhere bigger am just explaining my point , I mentioned that at some points in shift 2 it becomes more realistic than FM3 ..

please take my post positively ..

So do you think the "racing" is better in GT5 or Shift2?

@UAEmonster Fair enough to me. It's your rapresentation of a racing feeling. I could agree with that if GT5's AI will improve with a patch, they are really too slow most of the times. Now what about S2U framerate? :)

At start, it's a bit better than GT5, after a while it's like GT5, if you overequip your car to the maximum of the class it will be too easy, however AI is a lot better, when you put pressure on them or when they are behind it's comon for them to try to break late and overtake you or stuff like that. They are really creative for AI cars.

Now what about S2U framerate?

I have the xbox version and I didnt really notice any framerate drop. UEA said a bit earlier tho that he had framerate drop, screen tearing and graphical problem apparently.

The only issue I have with shift 2 is that the game freeze quite a lot. Other than that I didnt really notice anything bad on how the game is runing.

The whole package lol ?

GT5 off course

If the AI are slow that doesn't mean they are stupid all the time .. i tried to figure out whats the problem because i was the fastest in each race i don't remember my self restarting a race in GT5 maybe only in challenge mode. Although , try to race them with a slightly slower car .. you will discover some of their talents not in beating you , in their way of driving in general.

In shift2 i only tried maybe 6 track layouts i will try more with faster car as i want to be accurate in all my posts .. until now i didn't face any issues other than 1 , the game freezes sometimes when you customize your car

Now that I flat out dont beleive. Even if AI was same as the first game its better than gt5.

For me racing is funnier in Shift 2, but once again you can upgrade your car pretty quickly, by the 3rd event you have around 400-450k so you can pretty much destroy the competition. If you let the car stock tho and upgrade just to keep up, it's awesome. They using different method to overtake/block you etc.. You can see AI having a crash, restart the race and that crash wont happen etc.. It's really lively. You can't take huge jump like in GT5 and hope that you wont crash after, you have to actually break a bit before the jumps.

Also the light of your car actually works like light compares to GT5 light which are uber crap.

The only time that i had better racing in GT5 was when I was racing online with people that I know and that are close to me in term of speed.

Now dont get me wrong, I prefer to drive in GT5, but racing is a lot more alive in Shift 2, due to the AI and the track that feels a lot more alive and not just 3D representation of a real world track. I do agree that the tracks are not 100% accurate but still they still kinda feel more alive for me.

Have you had the chance to race the same people with Shift 2? Or even with strangers rather than AI?

Awww.. They don't limit you? You can use any car in any event regardless of power?
