I'm game for impromptu practice sessions setup in the format of the races but with about half as many laps. I can't practice manufacturer races unless I'm online as I have some of these cars and they're tunes. It would be a bit of a shock to practice with one car and end up in something a little unfamiliar.

Anyone game?

Note: this won't be _organized_ per se, just friendly meets to get to know the car and the track. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturday shortly before the race would be best I think.

If you're on tonight (in 10 mins or so), I'll look for you...

Nice track choices, only problem is I haven't got them 2 prize cars for races 2 & 3, can I still race or do I need to race like mad to unlock them?

Race like mad.

The 911GT3 RSR is an early reward car, so that shouldn't be any trouble. The DBR9 may take a little while longer, but you should still be able to get it.

Again nice choice of tracks-two of my favourite and a have to know quickly- and cars -why can't we have them in R.L. :banghead::banghead::banghead:-Manny.

Jamie c when you run a manefacturer race you drive the car choosen by the host no matter if you unlocked them already or not so don't worry.👍

Because God knows we would be in jail in 10 minutes...

Wow Porsche GT3 RSR 👍 great choice, what a funny little car.

I've never used GT3 RSR outside Ring but i did a little worm up in Donington GP just to check how it behaves outside Nordschleife and it might cause some hard turns trouble. Some may think that it would be like walking through park but it's not gonna be like that at all.

I hope nobody takes this personally, keep in mind no offense intended.
For the last few months I have spent a lot of time tuning my cars, and I don't want to keep leaving them in the garage all the time.
Personally i can't stand driving a car that cannot be tuned, tuning and tweeking is what i do.
I realise manufacturer races present a level playing field and thats fine, if i had known in advance that the league was going in this direction, I would not have joined.
I have really enjoyed racing with you all, but I don't want to race with shackles on anymore.
This coming weekends event will be my last with the league .
I'M going back to racing my cars my way.
as previously expressed NO OFFENSE INTENDED TO ANYONE.

I am sad to hear that i have enjoyed racing with you, and i know what you mean i tried your lambo and its amazing and if could tune cars like that i would want to use them too.

But at the same time i like how manufacturer races keep us close together and how much it pushes your abilities as one tiny mistake and you can loose the race aaaaaa THE FEELING OF SWEET PRESURE as some one is burning a hole in there front bumper with my exhaust pipe tip, i just love when the pressure is on it makes it more exhilarating to play

Nitrovious, the fact that there are three manufacturer cars chosen this week isn't a "direction" that the League is choosing. It's a choice for a single weekend. For Week 5 I had planned to use more Personal Cars than Manufacturer cars.

I understand your dissappointment you are not getting to use your favorite cars but it's not as if the 3 League races each week represent some great investment of time on your part, is it? You are allowed to race your own cars the other 6 days and 23 hours of the week.

OK whatever... sorry to see you give up good competitive racing for such a trivial reason, but of course, it's your decision.

Before anyone else decides to quit the league because they can’t use their favorite car, track, driving aid, whatever, let me explain what I probably should have explained before with regard to the cars for this week...

I believe that some of the newer League members have not unlocked the upper Tier cars in the game yet, and so I felt that a week of Manufacturer races would give them some extra time to do that. This week’s car choices are based primarily on that consideration. None of the new guys asked me to do this; I just thought it would be fairer to them. The only other consideration that I had in mind was to try to curb the aggressive ramming that we saw in Week 3. I thought that by picking well sorted out, stable race cars I could encourage better racing habits and curb overly aggressive driving.

Organizing this small League, posting the schedule and race results etc., takes a bit more of my personal time than I would have ever anticipated. I would consider it a personal favor to me that if you have a problem with any aspect of it, or how it’s run, to PM me with your concerns, before you take any decided action. As I’ve said before, it’s not my League, it is our League, and you’ll find that I’m a pretty reasonable & fairly easy person to get along with.

NITROVIOUS i really hope you reconsider your position because it is always a pleasure to race nice drivers like yourself and despite prefering stock cars races i don't mind racing tuned cars...and i think Manny come up with a mix format league to please everybody 👍 and i'm sure you still enjoyed most of the league races even those ran in stock cars and this is the ultimate purpose of this league, isn't it?

That said we're still in the process of trying to form a clean racers community in this game ,wich isn't easy, with some newcomers who probably don't even have their cars tuned up competetivly...so Manny's choice for this weekend makes a lot of sense to me,but that is just my opinion i respect other to have different ones.
The league will evolve to a new format in which i'm sure we all have a saying(Manny has shown loads of tolerance in earing everyones opinion) and works things out in a way it pleases everybody...so i think we all have to be patient in this working process and enjoy the opportunitty of racing diferent cars and tracks that we never use on or ofline just because they aren't competitive in unresticted races.

I love the format of mixing manufacturer races and "open" races. It's a great combination of showing, or in my case learning, driving skills and tuning skills. Wife doesn't like the 5PM Saturday time, but that's a minor problem! =)

It would be a great loss of NITRO backing off. So Don't do it. This is just first season out of many more to come :) I don't think that league is taking any direction at all, manufactures car cause less problems. And the only reason that we using less our personal cars is because there is so many racers during the race, I've never had any lag problems with less then 5 players at the track using Mixed Cars, that means their own livery and tunes.

There is just to many players, in my opinion 5 should be maximum, but unfortunately this would generate more organization problems.

With the new random group system it's not a problem splitting into a third group if we need it because of framerate problems. If people would prefer to do that it would only take 5 minutes for me to set it up.

I haved mixed feeling about it. On one hand, it seems like the framerate problems affect me particularly hard. Two of my three races last weekend were effected by it, and it makes the driving feel of any car much different than it feels in Single Player mode. On the other hand, most people don't seem to have as much trouble as I do and it's fun to get seven or eight on the same track at once.

It's much better racing full grid without any problems, if manufactures cars gives this opportunity then I'm OK with it. More groups is not the solution.

more groups seem to be the only solution at the moment.

Realistically the only way we are going to be able to race our own personal cars with out any problems is by splitting into smaller groups so there is less information being proccesed during the game.

And if i am honest i dont think it will be that bad with groups of 5 or 6 players of course it wont be as good as a full grid but at least your not going to be doing a ton of laps in slow motion.
And on top of that we have to decide on a way of doing it that works for everyone good signal or bad.

And like i have said before this thing is only going to get bigger.

Thank you all for these crazy races! First time I had so good races playing Shift online...

WTF is up with some people, I was rammed of the track about 6 times! Twice by Kemp when I cleanly overtook him, if thats the way its going to be count me out from now on!

Thanks to the ones who raced cleanly!

Really sorry for that! There is one bump I don't remember, maybe I haven't see you.... Sometimes I m so concentraded on having a good line that I forget that I m not alone on track and don't look to split times to know where are the other cars :banghead: I m gulty.

For the second bump, I remember it very well! :guilty: It happened at Brands Hatch on lap 3. You were between 1 or 2 sec behind me. I broke to late in turn 2 and knew that with the time I had lost you will be very close to me. If you remember I stayed on the left of track when going out of turn 2 cause I wanted to let you place in case your car was on my side! As I use a wheel I can't look left or right. So looked at the split times to know where your car was and cause of this I broke a bit late for turn 3, went a bit wide and bumped you.... :guilty::guilty::guilty: Believe me or not, I just was trying not to touch. And then, yes I didn't wait you (I usually do it but not this time so shame on me), in the moment I said me that was just a race incident. Sorry it was an error! I m guilty again...

Same as me, I will wait until I can get pass someone, not just ram them off. I can get a better race from the Public rooms. I think some are not using Pro mode either. :odd:
That's it for me, thank you all for the races, catch you another time.

Please Ozr you should reconsider your words. You're maybe a clean racer (I think all racers here are or at least try to be clean!) but remember (that was at Brands hatch too) you overtook me taking the inside in a right turn and kicked me of the track but didn't say nothing in the mic when it happened (don't know if you have or not a mic...) cause I said me that it was surely unintentional so I went back to track and back to work! If you had not written the post quoted, I would have never talked about that..., but you did. And yes, I m in pro mode (with abs). And no, you will not have better races in Public lobbies (where you can be intentionaly bumped at every corner! great! :sly:)

And last I just want to say to all: I m not a BUMPER , just don't want to have a bad reputation for the first races I ve done with you. I prefer go off track or in the wall when I see I m going to bump someone! I m not here to be "The First" but just to have fun and races as clean as possible with good drivers. And there are very good ones (Mr V, you killed us at the Ring )!!!

Jamie! Ozr! Let me, let us a chance to race again together and maybe next time we could have clean & close races together! ;)

Fair dos, I'm willing to race with you again, as been said in here accidents happen due to the blind spots etc, I just got pissed of due to it happening a lot in one session and came on here hot headed

For some reason I thought you done it on purpose as I cleanly passed you and next thing I was rammed of the track  Should've waited for an explanation.

No hard feelings :)

I think people are just new to this and need more experience after all it was there 1st race for some, i just think people need to give each other more room.

There are loads of methods to keeping racing clean for example if i am playing alone i practice as Meany different lines as i possibly can weather they get me round the track fast as hell or slow as hell, and this is for one simple reason.
When i am racing online i find that i dont always have my best line so now by practicing different lines it opens up more option for clean over taking on corners.

So in light of this issue i thought i would run an idea past you and get some feed back which depending on your feed back could save me making a wasted thread.

Ok here it is...............:scared:THE GTP DRIVING SCHOOL THREAD:).
i know, i know, but bear with me by doing this we all could use each other to better our driving for example a technique used by touring car drivers called snaking, this involves a pack of guys all bumper to bumper the front man leads and the rest follow, now in doing this you can practice getting close and applying maximum pressure at the same time as keeping it safe.also i will add that the front man in the pack in restricted to a specific top speed to keep the pack together.

we can share and lean new techniques from each other for example (and this will sound big headed) i am quite good at applying pressure for long amounts of time while keeping things clean and practicing this skill has helped me gain Meany positions its also a handy tool if you much it up and need to get back up front.

then we can go out on track and put it all into practice help each other tune our skills.

but this is just meany of the things we could discuss in the thread.
this way i think we can see a hole new standard of online racing.

So tell me what you think is this a daft idea ???

I can vouch for the truth of that! He waited patiently and came off the last turn before the long straight on Nordschliefe with more speed than I did and drafted right by me, the 🤬.

In my opinion close racing is much harder to do than throwing down good lap times. And it's not something that I'm particularly good at. So, sure I'd be up for a little practice at it. 👍

If that was the second corner at Brands Hatch, the right hand corner, someone used my back end for a brake and pushed me into someone. I thought it was SteveO that I hit, but it may have been you.
That was on the first lap, after that I ran around in last place and staying out of trouble.

Why don't we combine that idea with my suggestion of practicing laps on the tracks/cars prior to the race?

Unfortunately I haven't made many Shift races yet due to getting to grips with my new wheel. One thing I will say however is that I have raced Kemp many times before on prologue and I can vouch for the fact that he is a VERY clean and fair racer and always a good sport. In my limited experience I believe the collsion physics in Shift are far more 'hit and miss' than in GT5P and accidents can happen without the party concerned knowing. I would be very careful about calling drivers out without discussing the incidents with them privately first to find out all the facts, especially when they are well known and well respected competitors in this forum.

Great idea for the driving school HOG, I certainly still struggle to get to grips with Shift at times having spent so long playing GT 👍

Absolutely, in several races I have either been hit, or hit someone else while appearing to be be a car length or more away.

Chill out people there's always going to be race inccidents and i know when we are the victims of that situations we get pissed,it's only natural, but we have to keep in mind that some more unexperienced drivers are more due to making mistakes and having worst awareness of other drivers in the track...
That said even those who play in wheels and don't have option to look back have mirrors(in cockpit view 2) just pull them out on HUD options...
Racing with full grid it's most enjoyable but requires extra care in racing bump to rear and overtaking specially in this game where everything happens so fast and the blur effect of speed(at least in cockpit view) only turns things worse...
So without any pretention of teaching anyone anything i just advice the new comers to drive like in real life avoid any contact with other drivers and when you do(one or two mistakes are allowed only repeatedly arrasing other drivers and punting them of should be a problem) if that causes the other driver to loose his position you should back off and let him regain it even if that means loosing position to other drivers...maybe the full damage option should be enforced because it would not harm little paint trading but would pennalize indiscriminated rear banging.

Remember like in real life who hits from behind it's always guilty in the crash driver in front is entitlled to his racing line and even to close the door(it's a question of racing etiquette to do it or not but is allowed) only when the two cars are side by side the leader shall make room for the other driver to overtake whithout contact(and not pushing sideways into the sand or grass like so manny times unfortunelly happens in public lobbys...:nervous:

...maybe the full damage option should be enforced because it would not harm little paint trading but would pennalize indiscriminated rear banging.:

I've been racing with damage on, it comes on when I switched it to pro mode. I thought that was part of the rules, but if not I would be happy to turn it off.:) Not that I ever bump anyone.:mischievous: Only due to my lack of driving skills.
