Do you think that every track should have the option of 24hr time changes, because I would love to do some night drifting on Tsukuba Circuit

Of course. It would be nice to have more time variation tracks. Especially all the real world tracks. The course maker tracks should do full time rotations too. Only Toscana... in fact, isn't Toscana, Toscana Tarmac, Le Sarthe, and Nurburgring the only ones tht have time change?

Enthusia had Tsukuba at night, one I would love to see is Daytona.

Agree. If they included time change Daytona they would though make it harder to justify not having Daytona 24 Hours endurance.

I don't think it'd be that hard to just add 24HR to every track right?

Or is Polyphony lazy

Well... you'd have to program the constant lighting change. You'd have to make moving shadows. The sun needs to move. Fireworks are common at night time. You have to program when the track lights turn on. As I already said, especially the lighting and shadows. Probably would take awhile.

Mate, if it were so easy, everyone would be doing it.

Exactly what was I thinking. But it wouldn't necessarily be necessary to do the first ones like sun transition throughout the day. I would imagine a simple copy-pasting would work. Then you would work on shadows, proper lighting areas, and so on. But either way, it would take quite a lot time to open time/weather change per track.

For the real life tracks the sun has to follow the same exact pattern. And shadows would probably have to be viewed from the track.

They don't have to necessarily follow the sun's patterns like in real life. But since PD seems to want the game as realistic as possible to the last pixel (possibly :sly:), then wish granted.

I think night racing wouldn't make sense on some tracks, but at least partial time changes should be always provided (as in Course Maker tracks).

Tracks where night racing would make sense:
All city tracks (Madrid, Cote d'Azur, London, Rome Circuit, Tokyo R246)
Daytona, Suzuka, Laguna Seca (24h races are ran on these circuits in real life)
Tsukuba (races on night are done here from time to time)
Grand Valley Speedway (it just looks like it might support night racing)

Only partial time changes:
Monza, Indianapolis, Autumn Ring, Cape Ring, Trial Mountain, Chamonix, Deep Forest, Eiger, High Speed Ring, Top Gear Test Track

I would love to have night tracks but it would be better if they did change wether change time to all real world tracks

What is a partial time change?
Changes over a limited time range (= not a full 24h cycle). On the Eifel Course Maker theme it's from 06:00 to 19:00 for example; it never gets dark there.

On Indianapolis, it would make sense to have a partial cycle, especially If long races such as the Indy 500 will be included at some time. The track however does not have facilities (illumination, etc) for night racing, so it would be pointless to program for it a full 24h time cycle.

Call it "fantasy racing" or whatever but I wouldn't have a problem if they added a 24hr cycle to Indy. Yeah, they'd have to add lights to the track which is not real, but it sure would be fun to drive. The purists would just have to refrain from using it.

there is already a night version of tsukuba but it's unavailable in game, i remember seeing it in an intro video

Hmm.... Want to take this in two opposite directions at the same time, for different reasons.

On the one hand, doing the full day/night cycle thing obviously does require some work since it isn't common in these sorts of games.

On the other hand, I want to ask..., are you not familiar with Polyphony? The game's been out for almost a year and we still don't have mid-endurance saves yet. After all the time they spent developing the game, they only created 220+ new car models for the game (the rest were recycled and sub-standard, and yes that's still a lot of cars but at the same time is roughly half of what FM3 released with after just two years in development), and many of the tracks would be right at home running on PS2 (Trial Mountain comes to mind). They haven't been bothered to keep an eye at all the neat stuff the other guys are doing, so in terms of gameplay features GT5 is largely at least half a decade behind the times.
