7:26.70 lap time on Nürburgring Nordschleife set in 23 April 2009 by Nissan test driver Toshio Suzuki driving a Nissan GTR, now in GT5 presented in splitscreen vs real life video 1:1 - EXACT time, what a marvelous driving ...

R35 and nsx should have pp adjusted to reflect stock performance....like a base value. Pp is supposed to equalize performance. A car that dominates all other cars in its class should have pp adjusted. Cars are given ballast weight in rl races if the car is shown to dominate...similar school of thought.

The GT-R is an amazing car...

Problem is that it's M5 money but fezza running costs. Not quite the bargain it appears.
it's hell lot faster than an m5 in everyway and looks more expensive too. M5 isn't exactly cheaper to run. BMW garage labour rates are known to murder their owners.

I hate the GT-R in GT5, especially in the online section, where even the most average driver can take it to the win. Yes, sure, it has understeer due to its AWD nature, but it has such a ridiculous amount of grip that you can rocket it out of the missed apex and still be faster than any other car that took the line properly, and I really can't stand that. In its stock PP range it is untouchable, there's not a single car that can face the GT-R, and it is competetitive against cars that are above its theoretical capabilities.
And then there's the lack of soul. It's an unbelievably fast car, but it's as boring to drive as a Kei car, at least in my opinion. It never becomes unstable, not a hint of oversteer....
Would I take a GT-R in real life? Sure, in fact I saw one this past summer and to be honest the car is quite cool. But I would never take it if I had the chance to get my hands on an old school, RWD, manual tranny Corvette, 911 or Testarossa :D :D

Agree, agree, concur, copy that.

I don't hate the GT-R. I just see it for what it is: A trick piece of technology that doesn't care too much how well you can drive. Stab the throttle, misjudge the braking, doesn't matter; just crank on the full lock and you will carry as much speed as anyone else. Effective? Yes. Impressive? no.

I'll chime in I guess. I was always a fan of the GT-R, but the way this game crams them down our throat it's made me start to dislike them. My UCD usually is 20% filled with some variant of this car, there's about 573 of them in the Premium dealership, and it made up 3 or 4 of the DLC cars. Enough already, quit making Skylines and GT-R's and start making that batch of vintage FGT's we all want! Well, that I want anyway. :dunce:

I shall chime in too. The GTR, to me, is no doubt a great technological showcase. I actually think it is modeled right in GT5. I just dont like how it looks. I think it looks a bit heavy and big.

The car has been credited for making ordinary drivers into super drivers, a regular tracker in a GTR can keep up with a race car driver in a 911 simply because the car is more forgiving to drive fast. No car lacks "Soul", it's one of those terms that the automotive world has adopted which makes zero sense.

I dislike the GT-R on principle; yes, it's good... But it could've been so much more.

I also dislike how they drive in game. You don't even need to care about how you're driving, the car will fix most minor mistakes.

Which is why the only reason I have a GT-R in my garage is to stomp on kiddies who can't win without one.

And I have a GT-R SpecV with stock power and weight that is setup to it's best on Sports Soft tyres...it's pathetic how much effort I had to put in just to make the car WORSE than the stock computerised rubbish. I don't like the GT-R because it isn't a car for people who actually race, it's a car for the awful little kids, for when they finish crashing everyone off the track in their Vettel X2010s...

Two cars I have not driven ever in GT5 are the Veyron and GT-R (other than the Gt500 versions) Am I insane in the membrane? I mean, I have no grudge against the GT-R in real life, something about it in GT5 makes it unappealing. I don't know if it's because everybody and their mother drive it online or because I prefer the "old school" R32,33,34... Please don't hate.

I don't get why this car is so disliked I don't like japanese cars that much at all but for some reason I find this car amazing I think it looks good and works awesome just wish there was a us version in game

I honestly think some people get a little to carried away with being car guys (or girls?) That it gets to the point that they pick their favorite ones and just despise other cars. Reminds me of football fans, saying for example "the steelers are the greatest ever!" or "the Packers suck!" When in reality their both good teams(at least at one point or another.) Same seems to apply for cars, the R35 in reality is a great car. But like with everything people become so engulfed in it they pick sides I guess. So what it's heavy, does it need to be light? No, it's a street car and I'm sure they are selling just fine. Which is Nissan's goal, to sell cars. Which is why I'm sure like most modern cars have electronic aids to make them more approachable.

Personally I love all cars modern, historical, It doesn't matter. I appreciate the AE86, as much as I do the 458. Heck I'm even obsessed with the Diesel truck and extreme 4x4 scene.

Pity the Proto isn't actually premium, I would like to have seen the interior difference. Seriously though, no cockpit view. Even standard cars have blacked out cockpit view now.

Don't get me wrong cuz I do love the GTR. I just hate that it consists more than 20% of the cars in this whole entire game.

Did it have a "working interior"?

OT:
The premise of the GT-R was meant for it to be a Supercar Killer, for proof of it's nickname "Godzilla", and for it to be massively tuneable.

It's versatility and ease of use is what makes it good.

For the haters; just say it looks like a beaver from the front:sly:

Eyes, Whiskers(tiny extentions on bumper), and a big mouth (no teeth, though:indiff:)

I did some testing yesterday and in game it's maybe a bit harder to push the real life laptimes out of it than some other cars. In general seemed to compare well (using CS). The car doesn't choose the correct line for you and it's easy to overload the front tires when pushing. The easiness shows in how it's easy to get ok lap times out of it consistently but for the really good lap times you still have to know how to drive.

Maybe I should test some of it's competition, but unfortunately Ferrari has the reputation to use fine tuned specials even on third party track tests and the new McLaren hasn't been on many GT5 tracks in real life (Nordschleife is long and many cars seem to make their lap times there using tires from the "options list" and Top Gear test track times are from standing start...). That leaves Corvette ZR1 i guess...

All in all it seems the car is modelled within it's know real life performance. Now is the same true for it's competitors, that's for the next post. ;)

The prototype is premium. It doesn't have an interior because the real prototype didn't have an interior.

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS THREAD.

I regard the GTR as the king of all road cars. ALL road cars.

The r35 GTR is my dream car, and I WILL own one when I'm older. By the time I can afford one the latest version of the R35 would have been released and it will probably have 600+hp and kill every one of it's competitors.

The reason that I think the car is so amazing is not just that it has incredible performance, but because it has things that all of it's competition doesn't:

-The price, it is far cheaper than it's competition, its main rival the 911 turbo is like 4 times more expensive! And the GTR's 0-60 time is like 0.1 slower.

-The space, it is a four seater! AND it has a decent sized trunk. Most of it's competitors are 2 seaters with hardly any storage space.

-The comfort. The GTR can be a daily driver quite comfortably. If your not driving it fast it's quiet and smooth on the road. Heck even when your thrashing it it's pretty quiet. The interior is also very comfortable and it doesn't feel like your driving a race car.

And the styling, a lot of people think it's ugly. But I love it. I love that it looks different. It looks very aggressive, but also anyone who doesn't know what it is would have no idea that this car will slaughter those fancy f430 ferraris etc...

It's just an amazing engineering feat. I mean it's almost magical. It weighs more and has less power than it's competition yet it still beats them! All this for a fraction of the price too!

And yes I have driven one, and it literally took my breath away. I've also been in a f430, and it's nothing but a shiny show off mobile.

And the reason it's so fast in GT5 is because it handles so damn well that your laps are near perfect so of course your lap time will be fast. It's so easy to drive fast. It's so stable, that's why it seems boring. But trust me if you drive one in real life where you can feel the G forces it's anything but boring.

Yeah man, I was thinking the same thing the other day, and if I remembered correct, the proto in GT5 Prologue had interior view. :dunce:

The Proto never actually had interior view because when the car was modelled for the game, Nissan hadn't created an interior for the car in real life. So because the GT-R Proto didn't have interior IRL it doesn't in GT5.

I'm perfectly fine with the GT-R... I got the game for Christmas 2010 and two days later I bought the '07 GT-R and have stuck with it ever since.
While it is pretty heavy, it has a lot of power, especially when fully and correctly tuned, and is pretty easy to drive.
I actually can't talk about the difference between the Vspec and the normal one because I haven't driven the Vspec yet, but I think it should be just as good.

Vspec is even better!

Read the description, the windows were covered so nobody could see it's interior, so modelling an interior nobody has ever seen would be a bit difficult:p
