what should we do on race night?

Was a good couple of races tonight, thanks for the good turnout. Not to happy with my finishing position, but that sort of thing happens.

Let me know if there are complaints about drivers / driving, and I'll look into it over the next few days.

Thanks again guys, I'll put some tables up in the next couple of days, once results are finalised :)

Congrats to the winner and podium finishers.

The sprint race went fine for me, but the second race was a disaster. I had far too many excursions. I'll need to get used to the car and the how the tires grip. Suzuka is a mistake-prone track for me (cue racing driver excuses), the rest of the calendar looks good. I'd love to get a permanent grid slot in this series.

Good opening couple of rounds for the series and there's always one who turns up who's twice as fast as everyone else, widow maker ;) congrats on your 2 wins fella me lad!

Race one was disappointing as I misjudged the spoon on 2 occasions which kinda put paid to any chance of a podium. Thanks to priesty who kindly didn't put up a fight and let me through. Cheers fella.

Race two started badly as I hit one of the cars up the trumpet who were pulling over at the start to let everyone through so entered the first corner way behind the pack and then it just seemed like carnage going up through the esses. Cars everywhere!! Managed to hook onto the back of knight and gnap and had a good fun fight with them until lap 6 when knight put me into the sand at the spoon which kinda put payed to me hopefully getting a 2nd position. In the end only missed out on that 2nd by a nats chuff so happy with 3rd. Looking forward to next week now!

Sorry sy, was only a nudge but it seemed to be enough, otherwise I woulda let you back through. Bit annoyed at the second race I was one of the few that pitted and then got held up by backmarker, otherwise I woulda been on for a podium...

Yeah sy you hit me. I was instructed to move over at the start because I had to rejoin the lobby after my machine crashed. Bit confused over that one really because it was a reverse grid so actually started where I should have. Can someone clarify why this was the ruling tonight guys? I had nowhere else to move over to as I was along the pit wall so sorry I obstructed you sy.

No worries. It was one of those things. I just went the wrong way around another car and then straight into you as you were trying to get your car out of the way. Not much more you could of done!

...I'm not sure why Evo360 had to pull over either. Not sure of that ruling or how that works.:dunce:

Its because when you drop out of a lounge / room and return it usually puts you at the front of the grid

Good 2 races, stayed out of trouble and was pretty much on my own for both races. In the second race I saw Knight pitted and looking at the map I felt was far enough ahead to lose 4/5s a lap with bad tires so decided to gamble and stay out. Luckily he got held up aswell so I finished 4th :)

Very strange for Frag tho, never seen that before :/

I understand this but in my case I was in the correct place on the grid by chance. Maybe if it happens again the driver should have until the second corner to get out of the way? May make it a bit safer in future?

It works fine as it is, I'm not sure why somebody was reversing as that was just crazy. Whoever needs to move just pulls off track to the left/right (depending on what side you were one) and everybody else just carries on as normal.....

I finished race 1 14th out of 14, where were you??

Yeah no idea why he reversed, was just illogical.

Yeah. I think pulling off where there's a safe place to stop or be out of the way is best thing to do in future. You can't really disappear through a pit wall!

Reversed?? Not me mate and for the record I finished second to last race one. Reverse grid puts me second.

I'd quite like to know what was going on in the pack. I sure as hell wasn't expecting to be leading by five seconds after one lap whilst starting stone dead last... then again, I'm not complaining! :P

it was because of the crazy lag , i dont know how it works or to explain it but it slows some ppl down and speeds others up.

I have experienced it before in a gt500 league , the lag is so bad that it makes cars do faster laps than they usually do and then ofcourse makes some do much slower laps than they usually do

That's an element, sure, but my fastest lap in R2 was only 2/10ths faster than in R1. So lag didn't effect me too much in that regard.

All through a 12 lap practice race I did 2.08s, then I struggled to go that fast in either race, so I'm not too sure what happened there.

I'll look at incidents reported to me over the next 2 nights, so let me know tonight if you want me to check incidents from either race.

Obviously isn't ok as it is due to two accidents before crossing the start line?

Nothing to report on my front, altho it's worth checking out Knights pit stop :)

Well we've been using it in our other series and it's fine ;)

Agreed, we should designate a run-of area so the drivers could stop with minimum fuzz. As the start is usualy "fuzzy" enough allready.

Yea not jumping on this just because its my team mate but, it is nice to try and replicate as much realism as possible. so even a rolling start with the race organiser talking us through correct grid order, parade lap then designated start area ie start of pit wall or whatever suits each track? Pulling over on a packed grid is just awquard. Whats the thoughts on this ? Cheers gang

I was tempted to do a rolling start, I noticed far more contact than I'd like, which resulted in people being knocked out of position. I'll look at the OP and maybe change a few things to do with race starts.

Sorry,i wasn't able to race yesterday,didn't had time,sorry!!
This Sunday i'll be there if everything's okay!

Cool. Cheers for takin on board! Well organised and great fun! Keep goin....

Nice to see a democratic angle on the series. I was a frequent racer on a certain forza race series and there was no sign of ideas or suggestions being taken on board. Good news :)

I agree, some other series I've raced in were quite like a certain for a series. It's ok. But annoying when you noticed obvious problems and nothing about it happens.

After reviewing last nights replays, I have general points, no specifics to certain drivers this time.

  • Firstly, only overtake where you can cleanly pass, if there's lag, wait a little bit as you can take people off or get taken off, the best place to pass in these situations is a good exit off a corner and slipstreaming. Without lag, please still be aware that in most corners there is very little space to overtake, please be cautious as it can ruin other peoples race evenings.
  • Secondly, please be aware of lapping cars. Ideally pull well off the racing line, but more importantly be predictable (don't swerve or pull out). If your on a straight let them pass (ease off the accelerator), well before the corner, they shouldn't have to race you given that they're a lap ahead.

Also, I will update the second post with tables later this evening.
