yeah, thats fine, if you can afford the trial and error prosses. If you just try and learn on your own by figuring out stuff, you are most likly going to break or damage parts, which sometimes can prove to be very expensive.

That's all good if you have some kind of automotive or mechanical knowledge. However if you have never done it before. A lot can go wrong, and it will. I know, I have done a swap before. It's just pure ignorance to say that everyone should do it themselves. Some people just do not have the knowledge to do such a project. It takes time to gain that knowledge, and if you have the time and patience to learn, then by all means do it, but otherwise, have someone help, preferably a mechanic.![]()

well, if your going to pay that kind of money on a mechanic, why use it on a complete stranger, why not go to one you are well familiar with or someone that someone else recommends too you. Also, I dont car how much you research somthing, you are going to run into problems if you are not experienced at it. Horrible logic? Its a true fact.Originally posted by RHS13

horrible logic. If money is a constraint, then why are you paying hundreds or thousands of dollars for a stranger to install things into your car. It will be far cheaper in the long run to buy some tools, so a small amount of research, and do it yourself.

Well, I believe that is a little extreme, but I do know where your coming from. I personally I don't mind doing the research, and I have. However, I do agree, that if you don't have any drive to learn and understand the process, you shouldn't be thinking about engine swaps.Originally posted by RHS13
OPINION:
Those people do not deserve to modify any vehicle. If you are not up for learning HOW a modification works, there is no way on earth that you can take full advantage of it.

Your best bet is probably:
B) Find somebody in your area who has done a swap to help you. Offer them like $100, beer, and pizza and you can probably get a few guys to help you. That way you'll still be learning as you go along, but you'll have somebody with experience to help you if you have a problem.

The silvia and the 240sx use the same tranny. So yes, it would be. The trans can take up to 400hp easily. Mine is from a ka that had 160k on it. I would say to def use the stock 240sx one.
