i don´t care about 2p-mode because split-screnn sucks! For me it´s more important that you can use your garage cars for LAN battle.

What are the chances that the option is there and simply hasn't been spotted yet? Remember, everyone here is muddling through Japanese menus... a small bit of Kanji in the corner that says "Load Garage" could easily go unnoticed.

Just a thought. :)

That's entirely possible. Didn't think about that. 👍

Well, to me, they are both important.

I just checked out the Official Japanese GT4 site. They don't mention anything about players being able to load their own garage, but says that you can add certain cars from the Arcade Mode to your "Favorites"list to be used in the LAN Mode. Yes, I feel like shooting myself in the head(good thing I don't own a gun).

When Yamauchi was interviewed by an Japanese media, he mentioned something about "Quick Tune"(I'm not 100%) in the arcade mode, where you can do a quick setup for the car you want to race. I wonder if that applies in the multi-players.

The quick-tune is for arcade mode and multiplayer, I believe. But it's just quick-tune, I don't think it involves suspension at all, so it's no replacement for the precision tuning people do in their garage.

Come to think of it, I seem to recall an interesting phenomenon in GT3 where when I used my garage cars in arcade mode, it didn't load the tuned ones at first. Then when I hit 50% or so, it would load my tuned versions. I'm not entirely sure that this happened, but I seem to remember my Miata being unexpectedly de-tuned when I tried it in arcade mode near the beginning of the game...Someone could confirm this by starting a new GT3 save...

Your miata wasn't "de-tuned". It was the same "tuned" car. The only thing that was different was that at the car select screen, the specs on the car showed the non tuned versions specs, but when you actually got into the race, it was your tuned versoin that you race........

I know about that, but when I actually drove it, it wasn't as fast as I was expecting.

nope
no kanji that says that
i combed through the manual, no mention of memory card battles
checked on various japanese sites...there's a few mentions of not being able to load memory card garage for 2p purposes.

as for lan games, THAT i cannot find any info on...

anyone know where Kazunori Yamauchi live ? im about to rape him now  🤬 and i hope he will learn something from that lesson. lol

Honestly, i really hope they include it in PAL release, 2p mode is very funny, but it seems that i have to buy1 more TV.

With all this hatred going on in this thread,

I believe what we need is a bit of comic relief!

Use vibrating condoms!

Well, on GT3 any cars you had tuned up were untuned when they were uplaoded in Arcade mode so they were similar to the cars already available in arcade mode anyway.

I could care less if this is in or not. Since I never race agaisnt my friends. Its not a big deal. Gt4 is still a great game.

free run mode is still included but in its new "500 creds per run" incarnation in GT mode which im fine with as you always have spare credits banging around anyhow.

However the lack of memory card battles from GT4 is probably one of the worst possible things i could hear about the game. in GT3 pretty much the only reason i bought any cars was to tune them to race in 2P, i attribute the longevity of GT3 purely to that reason. GT mode was fine and dandy but i used that merely as a platform to win cars/money for 2P battles.

my friend and i have been on the edge of our seats for months now waiting for GT4 and planning all the sorts of cool races we could have and so on. but now it just seems like a waste of time really. arcade races are usually highly dull with all bar the highest tuned cars eg. the JGTC cars and so on. we used to have a sort of tuning algorithm to race to with each car having its max horsepower set to 2.9 times its weight and it would usually yeild pretty fair races. but now if i wanted to race say a less powerful car like a nissan silvia against a faster car like an NSX it would just be a foregone conclusion. you dont have the option of offsetting the advantages of a more expensive car with tuning.

you would have thought that without the online play that was promised for GT4 PD would have at least tried to salvage what they had and keep the multiplayer options AT LEAST as good as GT3 but the way things lie now i can see this game being a short lived single player affair as far as im concerned

id happily trade up B-spec mode, photo mode, and any other perepheral 'extra' to get back what i consider one of the core parts of the whole GT experience

This sort of language is completely unacceptable. I don't care whether you thought it was funny to write, or if it is some form of jokey-phrase where you live, you are alluding to committing a brutal crime.

Don't do it again.

Photo mode is kind of cool, B-Spec is not interesting at all. Personally, 2 garage option in multiplayer races are more important than the entire online mode.

yeah, that's what I would assume.

Somebody please tell me this isn't true!

im pretty sure it is true, the only glimmer of hope we have now is that its included in the western releases. but thats probably highly unlikley too

it just seems like such a backward step, whats the point in introducing a lan mode when you are removing the main feature most people use in multiplayer: memory card battles. im seriously questioning whether its even worth buying GT4 at all now, this news is such a dissapointment.

the original thought of online mode in GT sounded quite good, im marginally dissapointed to hear that it wouldnt be online but i could settle for lan/split screen battles just fine. so my friends and i eagerly anticipate GT4's arrival when we planned to hook up 4 ps2s and have some great racing. my brother was planning to get his own separate PS2, DFP and copy of GT4 just to have races with me. but now that just seems completely pointless.

i cant fathom any reason as to why PD would remove this feature. sequals are supposed to build and improve on the originals.

This really stinks that garage cars cant be used in the 2 player mode, but with the amount of cars at over 600, I think I can live with it.

But in GT3, you could only use 40 or so of the cars. I hope there will be at least more car classes so we can have more cars, at least 100+. Like PGR2. :)

Remember many Japanese people scout these boards and have the game. Plus the main info we have obtained is from Hong Kong based players who speak Chinese and have the Chinese version.

Dang. :( :( :( 👎!!!
I enjoyed 2 player memory card battles from GT2... Like having GT300 or GT500 car tournaments... with settings... NOOOOOO!!! :banghead: :banghead:. The lack of garage is fair for arcade mode (if you have to unlock anything there) but NOT for 2 player mode. This is easy to do, and it's been done before. What the hell is the problem KY?! 🤬

Well, to add my 2 cents to the wailing and gnashing of teeth....

2p memory card battles are where GT is at, and it where the replay value of the game is. No other racing game had this ability until GT came along. My best friend and I would sit up for hours, every wednesday night playing 2player battles. My brother and I would do the same.

The fun of the game was taking 2 identical cars, but using your own tuning techniques and pitting them against each other.

I was hoping for this in LAN play because I was bitterly disappointed in the I link play. Here I was so excited to finally be able to play against my brother on two seperate TV's, only to find out that all we got to play with were the crappy normal cars from Arcade mode. Probably the biggest disappointment in my video gaming life ( all 20+ years of it ).

So, my hopes for LAN play flourished with thoughts of seperate garages pitted against each other, and this time not seperated by only a 4 foot cord! Alas, I may have jumped the gun and gotten excited about something that I felt would just be a no brainer to include in the game....

Perhaps though, we in the US will get a modified version since the release date here is sometime in March.

Remember the problem the early version of GT2 had when you saved too many times in the 1000km run? They released a second version that took that bug out of the game. Perhaps we'll get lucky...especially since everything I've read recently points to possibly getting online play included in our release.

One can only hope.
