I've been doing the first bit a lot, like about a dozen times thus far, because that’s basically what the internets said for getting technology slots, but never seen the second bit.
Three more scrapped yesterday, no augmentation modules. Sadface.

I read a Reddit thread that says you only get the modules from scrapping A and S class ships, not B and C's. It also said you're more likely to find A's and S's in wealthy systems. Whatever they are. Some of the Nexus/Anomaly or regular space station Missions often have them as rewards too. I think it shows the rewards when you click on the details to each mission.

If it makes you feel better it used to be worse.
There's so many odd choices in there that clunk it all up, and that's coming from someone who knows how to live with GT7's menus.

I understand that there's all sorts of stuff still broken from whenever it launched too, particularly with disappearing objective icons. That photo capture thing that @TheCracker mentioned is one I encountered earlier in the year, where even a pixel of the haze around a building being in shot prevented the image of the landscape registering. I also have an active mission right now to scan fauna... on a planet where I already scanned all of the fauna. :ouch:

Been a long time since I played, but you use to be able to buy ships from NPCs at the Space Station, and sell them for a profit on your Freighter.

For extra slots, again, you use to be able to warp to other systems, and buy a slot or two at a time, at Space Stations.

I had more money than I could spend, and all my slots maxed out, by doing those two things.

That's been years ago, when I played on PS4.

Thought about starting a new play through, but there's been so much added now, I'd be lost.

Go to the space station where the Nexus is located. The main teleport gives names of the places you go to. There they write the names of Class A or Class S aircraft. You can find them from there.

Its starting to feel a little 'end game' for me now. I'm a NMS billionaire so credits aren't an issue at all. My settlement is making 1m credits (units?) a day, I've maxed the amount of frigates (10) i can have in my fleet which i send out on expeditions, two groups of five, daily, which also gathers me around 2m including the sale of resources found on those expeditions. My frieghter and corvettes grow me NipNip Buds and Gravi Balls which i sell for another 1.5-2m. And that's all with so little effort. The seasonal Anomaly Expeditions are the only thing which keep me interested now. Hoping for another big update soon to keep me interested.

Xmas/New Year break corvette build:

If you refine salt and obtain chlorine, and then combine these with 2 oxygen atoms, you can build an incredible factory with a daily cash flow of 20 million. I used to go there a lot too, but now I've settled down. I built a big factory in the village.

I think at this point they've completely abandoned the "you're trapped in a dying AI simulation" storyline and are just making the game that Star Citizen claims it's going to be, but at like 5% of the budget cost.

And frankly? I'm perfectly okay with that.

Not started the new stuff yet, i just managed to start the Autophage quest line a few days ago and i'm still knee-deep in that. I have noticed piles of space-trash littered around planets, but you can't interact with it until you start that quest, which looks to take the form of an Anomaly Expedition. I've never liked the way you control any of the Exocraft in the game so outside of questlines or missions that require you to use them, i've largely ignored them. I've so far not felt in any way hampered by this, but given this latest update revolves around using them i guess that's set to change. :indiff:

I can understand why they did it the way they did since spacecraft use mouselook to steer, having ground vehicles do that too is primarily for control consistency. But hopefully they'll be giving that a bit of a rethink if ground vehicles are going to be playing a more prominent role beyond a way to get around faster.

Also, I guess ratchet strap technology was lost in the Gek First Spawn invasion or something. I know that physics funnies is meant to be the main draw of this update, but after playing so much Roadcraft I can't help but be like "c'moooooon". :P

edit: Also, you don't have to do the expedition to start scrap hauling, just to to the Anamoly or a waste processing plant on a scrap world to get the gravity gun and fit out a Colossus exocraft with a flatbed to drag it back. The expedition just gives some fancier cosmetic pieces for it.

I've never looked into whether you can reassign the controller buttons for the exocraft control or not. Might make it more user friendly if that's an option.

I've seen this latest update refered to as 'Community Service'

So having played around for a couple of hours with this...

You have a chance of getting rare materials like phosphorous and ionized cobalt from salvaging stuff on top of a steady stream of nanites, so it can provide a nice amount of profit if you've already got the means to deploy a Colossus wherever.

Grabbing a Sentinel out of midair with the gravity gun and smashing it into another Sentinel to destroy them both is very, very satistfying.

The excavation plow attachment for the Colossus is a must-have, as it lets you drive through destructible things without the risk of your front end catching on them and getting popped up into the air, throwing your stuff every which way. You also get a title and an extra something for destroying a bunch of stuff with it.

You will accidentally drive into a big hole at some point. It's going to happen. Whether you choose to just redeploy it, or be a stubborn mule like me and spend 20 minutes digging a huge ramp to get it back out just to avoid losing any scrap, is a decision you'll have to make.
