Hi ...probably I m late to see this but.....has anyone observerd the major differences (graphics) between the Nordschleife we ve been seeing in the many demos last year and the one that made it in the final game?...if you compare this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEjKMzjB9_E

with recent videos it looks like the circuit was stripped of a lot of elements in some curves really noticeable. It s like they had a much more pollished and realistic Nordschleife but the one that made it in the game isnt it. ..( check and compare curves at 0:42 , 0:50,...hell...compare it all)....i m pretty disappointed...

That's the old GT4 HD version. The last time we saw it was at CES in early 2009, after that a newer version of was shown in demos at various game shows

They went back to the Ring, probably when Kaz went to race in the Nurburgring 24 hour and redid it. It's more current and accurate, well it should be.

I go to the ring alot, and am not slow round there myself. I have a mazda RX7 with 319hp and lap it in around 8 minutes with plenty in reserve (I dont want to crash or have any kind of whoopsie!)

The first time i drove the ring was my first time playing GT5 and on the AMG academy full lap challenge in the old school gullwing. I restarted once at the third corner and on my second attempt i got 4 seconds off gold.

This was driven entirely from memory of the real life track.

I think thats pretty damn good. NONE of it feels wrong to me. Every lump and bump is there; Like a good friend of mine once said, it's like they got a team of people to go there and lick the track and write down their findings.

They could benefit from laser scanners. . .

Laser scanning the Ring isn't feasible, plus everything has to be done at night when it isn't being used.

When I watched this vid, it made me realise how accurate GT5's 24 hour Nurburgring circuit is, visually. That it made me feel like I was watching a GT5 replay 👍 :dopey:

I've only driven the ring in real life 8 times (44 laps in total), All in a race spec GT3. I am sure there are people on this forum who have done hundreds/thousands of laps... But, the GT5 version feels pretty spot on to me. I am only new to video games, started playing GT with my son about a month ago. Pretty bloody impressed at how well they can replicate some of these tracks..

lol, You've only, I've only never even been to Germany.

Were you competing btw?

WHAT THE....There's nobody driving the wrong way around the track. :) back on topic. Couldn't they close the track for a day or two whilst they laser scan the track or am i just being stupid?

It would take alot longer than 'a day or two', sadly.

But from the responses over at the iRacing forums, alot of people would gladly pay a premium price for a scanned Ring. i know I would in a hearbeat.

I think in some events there are a lot more people and trailers around the track. Can't remember off the top of my head which races do though.

Anyway-- this is one of the best GT5 vs Real Nurburgring Nordschleife vids I have seen (below). He gets held up a little in the real car at points, but for a lot of the vid it's amazingly well synchronized.

check it out.

I prefer the old version. Much more sunny and better looking, the track is just a bit shiny though.

GT5 model, with the GT5P/Demo lighting would be ideal.

Go to community, make your own lobby, choose the 'ring with changing time and set the time to 1pm and the weather to sunny. Bright enough for me. Graphics wise it beats the old version in everything, textures, backgrounds, sorroundings and it's more accurate to the real one (curbs, signs, fences etc.).

I've just started doing it- setting up a lobby just for a quick lap or time attack on the Nurburgring. Just remember that the time setting defaults to actual time (according to respective time-zone) although the time-scale is set at higher "10" (1 being the lowest therefore real-time and 60 the fastest). You can change to anytime (00:00 to 23:50) and also set the weather to Sunny and Rain. To keep it always Sunny or always Rain, you need to check the "Always" box or else it will be random (which means it will rain when it's sunny and sunny when it rains).

I'm surprise, PD didn't include this feature in the offline Arcade mode. Driving through both the Nurburgring and La Sarthe at sunset is one of the high point of this game.

The regular Nordschleife layout has no crowd and stuff around. But if you use the 24 hour layout(with the GP course lumped in) there are crowds all the way around the track with campers and camp fire....thats probably my favorite atmosphere in the game thus far...

I personally love setting the time to around 4-5am and then simply driving until the sun comes up. It is glorious. :)

I love your RX-7

The 2nd GT5 ending movie has very clear footage of a drive around the Ring, you can tell it's what PD used as reference :)

Hey Delarado,

I've done the ring myself as well... I agree with the Carousel feeling bumpier in real life (also a lot steeper!).

But would you agree that for real the corner feel much 'tighter'.. I played the game for the first time and felt the corners were not as tight as they feel in real life.. but the times for the track are pretty spot on.

Especially in the first sequence of 'left-right' chicanes.. I had a golf GTi understeering like mad through those.. but in the game.. no real problem.

Also on the downhill jump.. you can brake way later in the game I feel.. even after the actual bump which you don't really see done.

What do you reckon?

Other than that.. its pretty Epic in the game.. but you MUST visit the place first hand.. truly amazing.

Yeah, but there is a thing that I miss from the in-game track. It is even in the credits movie. The big 'Fahren sie zur Hölle' sign in the Karussell corner. Maybe they didn't want to offend people as it literally means 'go to hell' or 'drive to hell'.

Nice lap dude.
I don't know what it is but at 2:45 that turn to the left looks a lot less like a turn than in GT5 it seems like in the game it is a lot tighter and the elevation increase to much. It might be me though.

PD did more than just drive around it a couple times and create it from their videos.

Adenauer Forst? It's important to remember that most cameras flatten out the image and make some corners look a lot more open then they really are.

That makes me wonder if they left the penis graffiti on the pavement in the game.

What tires are you using? Should be Comfort Softs or Comfort Mediums. And for the Golf, try setting the brake force down to 2 front, 1 rear... it will probably bring it closer to your real life brake points (GT's default 5-5 is quite unrealistic on road cars). Still won't get around the god-like ABS issue, but it should feel more real.
