Would you like to be able to install KERS or Nitrous system on ur car?

Please no Nitrous. I like KERS however. KERS is more realistic then NOS. ''Lewis, use da nitro for da defensin against tha red bulll''

Not everything is about F1 you know...if this were put back in to Gran Turismo, this time it should be only allowed for production cars.

I think that KERS would be a good new tool for our cars, but it should be limited to cars that actually use it in real life, like the F1 2011 (along with DRS) cars or the GT3 RS (if they will be ever implemented someday) or an option to limit the use of kers online and even limitations on a-spec events where kers is not allowed (i.e. Super gt series). In that way I think it would be a good addiction to our game :)

I don't follow NASCAR, but does it have a PTP (push to pass) system? This could be interesting.

*Chasing Pesky Hybrid down Mulsanne...Not gaining...Presses NOS, while sceaming "NOS!!!"...Instant vortex + green flame shooting out from exhaust.

Pesky Hybrid: Da 🤬?

I had good times with nitrous in GT4.

You realise that Pesca Hybrid is called that way because it was a transition version because the regulations for Le Mans had change that year and it was allowed to run old cars with some adaptations instead of totally new cars, so the Pesca is old car with new regulations adapted?

Nothing to do with electric junk installed between transmission and engine ou some batteries for some kind of boost

both are realistic but this is better than "boost" system online , unreal.

with kers + its reasonable weight or nos + its weight and fuel consumption.

nos sounds like a kid thing but they use it in drag races a lot

but I don't think any levels racing around the track uses NOS because its fuel consumption would end their race too quickly.

I'm border line on this. It would be a nice addition but then again it wouldn't.

It would be nice to fit NOS to Japanese cars etc just to give the added feel of the scene.

KERS is more realistic then NOS.

Yup, everyone is running around with KERS on their real life car..

Atleast NOS is something the public can purchase unlike KERS wich is only in F1.

*internet slap*

there are many other important things... but this would be a nice feat. we need the important things first, really

thats why i hate the suits/helmets, colors i can understand but not the gear

dont use some hybrid cars KERS or something like KERS? (real life)

Well, sort of. But it's not used to give the car extra Horsepower like in F1. In hybrids it's just to charge the batteries.

I think there should be NOS in GT5 and when you drift or overtake another car, it refills your NOS. Also flames should come out of the exhausts and you can change the colour of the flames using paint chips. Gold chrome flames would be so cool! :dopey:

Okay no, but really, if they implement NOS like they did in GT4 along with the option to disable it online, I'd see no problem with it.

They're both real, so that's not true.

As for the poll, how about some better choices?

Yes, they should be in the game since it's a simulator. But no, they don't need to be in the game in my opinion.

Porsche 918 is the only production car I can think of that uses something similar.

Yeah I did, way before GT5 came out. It was the 04 car only with a bigger displacement (GV5 = 5 liters, GV5.5= 5.5 liters) and regulation fitting aero work.

We all pretty much refer to that Pescarolo as the Hybrid because it's the quickest LMP and perhaps most used in the game.

Or we could implement it the right way, where you choose for dry or wet (single, multi or plate) and can adjust the timing at what RPM range the system should start spraying and how much. That way, we could get cars that can't be forced induced to get that lil extra and race them in higher PP races. Because thats what nitrous does, it's exactly the same effect as a turbo or supercharger. This could be interesting for who wants to experiment with it and as long as the pp is adjusted to the power gain, why not?

Consequence could be the consumption maybe, that means, in longer races you cant go WOT all the time and have to stay behind the leader to conserve nitrous. Just an example, but could be fun.

Anyway, as long as the PP takes the power gain from the nitrous in account, I don't really see a problem, even online.

edit: btw. I voted "I don't care" because I don't, but I just wanted to put this on table because it looks like a lot of people here have quite the misconception about modern nitrous systems. It's not like the movies or NFS. No instant tunnelvision and explosions.

i would love to see more KERS than NOS...

NOS could be in the game too, but not in all cars...

F1 and Le Mans as well, but I totally agree with you. Nitrous is far more realistic to buy for a car than Kers. Also if were going to talk realism here...GT isn't the capstone for realistic parts buying anyways so both could end up in one game.

Yes, having it as an offline-exclusive part would be good. We can finally have cars other than the X car(s) that can reach 300mph:D

So it seems that, based on the reasoning given so far against having nitrous in GT5:
  • Only NFS games have nitrous (including GT4, apparently), and apparently "NFS" is now a pejorative
  • Using nitrous strategically would be cheating
  • A state of the art regenerative braking system is more "realistic" to be put on cars not designed for it than a nitrous feeder line and a tank
  • Livery editors are arcade features (how the hell did this topic even come up?)
  • Nitrous destroys engines (?)
  • Nitrous would "ruin" online (which is odd considering it would certainly come with changeable restrictions online)

And, most entertainingly:
  • GT4 did not have nitrous, so GT5 shouldn't either ()

Does that about cover the ridiculous arguments against having it so people will stop repeating them? Because I only skimmed the thread and I still saw that silly "IT WOULD TURN IT INTO NFS BAAAWWW" silliness pop up thrice.

^ 👍 to Toronado for his post. Also the unfairness some see with nitrous being saved till the end of a race is stupid and ironic. Cause essentially you can do the same with Kers, it seems there are many users on this thread that don't understand the idea and more importantly usage of Kers. Which would be similar to nitrous as a boosting system, just not in the same idea. Either way it would be used strategically just like nitrous.

Forgot about Le Mans :D. But yeah, i don't understand all the hate towards Nitrous? Did any of these people even own GT4?

Nitrous was very cool. Imo the last ground breaking feature we ever got in the GT series.. Being able to tune for power or duration. It definitely made drag races with a friend more interesting.

I say bring it back. Limit it to production cars only and there wont be a problem.

There should be a petition for Nitrous.

Edit: And what's with all the hate towards NFS too? NFSU2 was one of my all time favorites. Some of the best engine sounds i've heard in a game to date.

Well, in a game made for the purpose of virtual professional racing, a win by nitrous would be not be considered a win by skill, instead a win by strategy. Not very professional.

I would now only accept nitrous if it were factored in the pp system.

Is Formula 1 not professional? Because, even with the partial removal of fuel strategies, there is just as much strategy to winning a race as there is skill by the drivers.

You still have to have skill to keep the car on track..

Well, I was referring to this example specifically, though.

Simply overpowering an opponent w/ nitrous doesn't require nearly as much skill as making the pass and maintaining that position. I'd say maintaining position is the strategy part, and gaining positions is the skill part.

More than likely the guy you're racing is gonna have Nitrous too so it's not gonna matter. And like you said, hopefully it would be intergrated into the PP system, wich i don't see why it wouldn't be?

It wouldn't be as bad/noticeable as you might think. Depending on how you have your shot tuned (lol) it might last awhile but only give you a little power, or the guy is going to have it set to 100 and use it in the first 30 seconds.

Either way tho i say this game could live with some good old N20.

Given an equal situation, All one would need to do is use NOS to end a race.
You didn't read the example, did you:p

I did, you just didn't understand what you actually were saying.

RB6
KERS + its weight would be realistic at least for Formula One cars and I guess a few racing cars now use this like GT3 R hybrid.

For roadcars NOS would be fine because its realistic anyway but I doubt the engine will last long in reality but it has to have a weight increase and in terms of fuel consumption using nos would double it while used.

Since there's weak slipstream now this should be great :)

but btw only kers gets to regenerate and NOS can be replaced at the pits :D for long racing online!

this would be a much better system than "boost"

"boost" is so unreal , the reason for boost is overtaking.

instead of "boost" having something realistic and have its realistic weight with it :)

We don't have any F1 cars in the game that used KERS.
The big effect of KERS is not weight gain although that is a factor. KERS affects the feel of the brakes when the batteries are charged the brakes will feel normal and when the system is harvesting power it will reduce braking effect and feels as though the brake pedal is pushing back at the driver.

Wow, did you not see that people have said that they too would only want it for production cars only...Also Le Mans, F1, Nascar and others all have a strategy to them so they're not professional by your definition since they use fuel strategy to win many races, tire strategy, F1 uses Kers too boost and DRS. Yet you'll take Kers only cause it seems more elitist from your argument.

As far as "virtual professional racing" goes GT isn't the standard that would be PC sims. Sorry but your argument doesn't hold water and is very contradictory seeing as you need as much skill in driving as you do strategy of multiple things to win a race. If anything nitrous would add to the complexity of racing and the strategy of it.
