Nose Standing

I have seen the 'head stands' I call them; once I finish the challeges with AI I hope it's the last I see of them, ,

I hopefully will not see the same online; sounds like it does have something to do with the physics (I feel tyre slip better this version though);

Or maybe Mr. Bean is driving the AI cars :dopey:

Same thing happened to me, same track, same spot, same AI car, the AI even swirl in the same way at the end towards the rail.

It's pretty funny really, but not something you expect from a 'driving simulator' hey ... lol

How did you grab the screenshot? I was trying to figure out how to grab the video, ended up using my phone to grab it, that's why it sucks ... lol

When you go into your gallery, if you saved your replay, I think if you use triangle over the replay in the list you have an option to export the video to XMB, I think it converts it to a video file like mpeg or something.

Additionally if you play the replay by using the replay feature, not the auto-replay, you can pause and take pictures of the race.

GDay All,

I haven't seen anyone mention the Nose Standing cars (I am new here though). This occurs especially on Tokyo 246. When an AI car brakes for a corner it stands on its nose, literally. Absolutely ridiculous!! This is a driving simulator? I think not. I believe even the car you are driving does this, but it doesn't show, it does behave as though the rear end has lost traction though.

I saw this at Matterhorn and thought the AI had hit a section of track at a bad angle. Really crazy looking. It made me laugh and I almost lost the race because of it. WTF

I just did a search for Wheel Stand Pro and discovered that I haven't seen these before and they would be perfect for what I need. I went to order one and guess what, they're out of stock :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

They seem to be available in the US but shipping is horrendous, costing almost as much as the stand :scared:

Thanks for the tip though mr_serious.

Trumpy, I have the Next Level Racing folding stand which I think is better than the Wheel Stand Pro because it doesn't have the support bar between your legs.

The thing is built like a tank too, weighs about 13kg's, which means it doesn't shift much on the floor. Has a checkerplate pedal box! :)

They are local too, ship outta Brisbane!

Thanks for the heads up 'singletrack' but I just found a Wheel Stand Pro to suit my Logitech Driving Force GT Wheel here in Oz. I'm hoping it will arrive before xmas but even so, I will be joining the wheelers soon ... lol

I've seen the Next Level stand before but I don't like the frame that much. I have a bad leg after a motorcycle accident a few years ago and my leg/ankle would probably hit on the frame sometimes and that could get very uncomfortable for me. With the Wheel Stand Pro, the pedal area is open so there's nothing for me to hit my leg on. I agree that the pole between the legs is not the best but it will serve my needs a little better I hope.

 I hit the wall at Cote D'zure the first time I saw it, but I thought I was imagining things, but then it happened in front of me at Toyko R246, so then I just hit the car ... lol

At least no one can say that GT6 is NOT entertaining ...

Kewl, but how do you get it off the PS3 and where exactly does it save it on the PS3?

I did the video export thing but I can't find where it put the exported file?

Flipped the 500 during braking on Matterhorn - it just landed on it's roof - it's ridiculous. :O

It was on hard sports - but regardless of the tire compound that would NEVER happen in real life.

Happens on the Matterhorn track when they brake for the corner that goes underneath the train track every time. Kinda funny to see it happening, but I'm sure this is something they'll fix soon. It's less odd here than on Tokyo I guess... as you accelerate to the top of a hill kinda and just as they brake it goes downward. The back of the car seems to want to continue upwards. But on Tokyo it's near flat so that doesn't make sense.

Kewl, nice shots. I finally figured out how to grab screen captures like this, but still can't capture replays. Oh well, such is life ... lol

I didn't realise it before, but even my car was getting a little nose happy as can be seen here:

...WOW. Stoppies?? Barrel rolls?

This is patently unacceptable for a GT title; I hope this gets patched in short order.

Yes, I certainly hope it does get patched. Speaking of which, the day I installed GT6 it was patched, but it does need another patch or two to iron out the wrinkles ... lol

I think the comparison to GT1 and it having worse physics than it is a little over wrought.

This is obviously some kind of glitch with the grip level/deceleration calculations in certain scenarios. In just about every other aspect GT6 is the most sophisticated in the series, physics wise. Let's not over egg the pudding...

indeedilly!

how about ye olde Indy500 on the Amiga500, that wer heaps fun.

Thanks, that's exactly the game I have been trying to remember since I started this thread ... lol ... Mind you it's nearly 20 years since I last used an Amiga. Bring back the Amiga!!!! ... I still have alot of the Amiga software I offered on my BBS way back then and there's an old heavily modified and repaired A1200 downstairs collecting dust ... lol :)

Maybe I should fire it up and compare Indy500 against GT6, could be interesting ... lol

I think you will be shocked about how bad it is, and you will be uttering sentences such as "I can't believe I actually played this". Time is not kind to software.

And that, my friends, is what may be causing the bad handling of some cars under braking - no rear traction.

The strange part is that the 86 GT still feels like it has traction even in the picture that I captured it felt like it was firmly planted on the deck, unlike many other cars in my garage that handle and feel as though the rear tyres are flat.

Not sure if it has anything to do with rear traction.

Rear traction is the ability of the rear tyres to maintain grip with the road as power is delivered through them.

This is an issue with too much weight transferring to the front of the car.

Yes and as the weight transfers to the front it in effect removes weight from the rear of the car and causes the rear wheels to lose traction. It's not that difficult to understand is it.

At the time, Indy500 was the bees knees. It's funny, looking back, at just how many games came to be on the Amiga and how it progressed computing as a whole. The Apple's and the PC's of the day were a long way off being as capable as an Amiga. The Amiga of course, is still a strong competitor, it's just a shame that no one cares to continue development of it.

heheh! 'kin-oath! yeh i still gots the A500 and a CD32 mobo sits with pride upon the highest shelf in my study(+sx expansion). who remembers the days of lotus Esprit Challenge on the C64? ahh, the days spent at the stereo RR'ing and FF'ing the audio tape until u could hear the gaps between programs. my bro has the A1200 and the boxes of 'ware now, dunno wot he gunna do wi it though.

I think you are confusing traction with grip, for a start.

Think about what happens when a motorcycle does an endo. It isn't a result of the rear wheel losing traction, it's a case of excessive braking and grip on the front wheel causing the weight of the bike to shift forward. Yes, the rear wheel no longer has traction, but this is nothing to do with the reason WHY the weight has shifted forward. You have confused cause and effect.

true, but it depends on the title. f'rinstance, my most loverd game of all time is JointOperations. we started playing it back in 2004 i think and played competitively with the squad for about 5 yrs and on pubs till about 2010/11. yes it is dated and the gfx look crap but the gameplay, thats the trick, the gameplay is what would get me back in a heartbeat every time regardless of the 'look' of the game. MineCraft is a perfect example, seriously retro 8Bit-land, yet it is hugely popular simply because the gameplay is great. most FPS's these days look pretty but the gameplay suxing!
