Does not changing the oil on your car actually do anything? It doesn't seem to...

Just kidding. What will really happen is that the sludge will build up and then nanotechnology arms will gather it up and use the bits to grind the cylinder walls to a larger bore and help with power. It's an automatic feature that few know of. Your bore could go as much as 0.35 over!

I've yet to hear a definitive answer on whether or not all of the lost HP comes back when you finally do visit the GTLube.

They should use "GT Synthetic" and give us more than 189 miles between changes...

I think it works like this.

First oil change: gain pwr0

Drive car: gain pwr

Next oil change: gain more pwr than the first oil change level if you have not already lost more power than what the oil change. will give you. if you have, gain some power back.

further racing,: may or may not gain power.

successive oil changes: gain less pwr each time.

so the engine starts strong than weakens with age until the oil change has little effect.

of course it could be designed to respond to the number and/or frequency of oil changes. try driving 500 miles in a car (stock) than oil change. then buy the same car again and do one oil change and compare the pwr gain.

how come it isnt 3,000 miles like in R/L????? :burnout:

Probably because the creators wanted it to be a more constant factor. Some will only play a couple of hours a week, so reducing the intervals will make it more important to the player.

If you change oil on some brand new cars you will actually increase your HP, so when you do a series you loose less HP as the series moves forward because you started with more.

your first oil change on a car, when it is right off the dealership lot, will increase HP. all subsequent oil changes will only return the HP to its max level, and will not cause any gains in HP. however, putting miles on the engine will give you an increase of HP. The engine reaches a peak in HP around 800miles. this peak is around 5-8% higher than stock HP. after 800 miles, the HP begins to decrease, until it reaches a limit of around 1-3% more HP than stock (so u will still net a gain in HP).

so changing the oil the first time raises HP. all subsequent oil changes only brings the HP back to its max level (depending on mileage of the engine). subsequent oil changes dont net a gain in HP.
