Now *this* is torque...

Drag racing semis with big trailers up a hill while young people in cowboy hats drink Budwiser and cheer them on...I honestly can't think of anything more redneck right now.

But ya that is quite a bit of torque and it's rather impressive since those tires are huge!

What if each trailer was packed with a 10-man banjo sing-a-long band with 10 more rednecks dancing around them?

...And both groups are celebrating the marriage between Cletus and his sister/mother-in-law/cousin. Yee-haw!

And here's the same truck again, this time losing against another truck:

It's still jumping around, yet the other one isn't - could probably just be better launch control from the opposing driver. I'm wondering if it's just the frame has been worn from all those lifts, and is no longer capable of resisting the torque.

Edit: Is this the same truck?

Crikey, that thing is fast!

I couldn't of put it better myself.

Agreed. Without that trailer I would imagine it wouldn't of lasted half of the track due to no traction.

And I'd love to see a mid-14 second ¼mi big rig run without a jet engine. That would be truely epic.

Holy mother of god that was quick.

Don't bet the ranch - never underestimate the traction of 8 big tires, even relatively skinny ones. And "skinny" in truck terms is at least a 12" wide contact patch... x8.

I knew a guy with a fairly modified F-body that runs right around 14s. He lined up against a bobtail semi once, and he was thinking to himself, "what, are you joking?"

Until the tree dropped. He said he never saw anything but a cloud of diesel smoke. That thing left him for dead.

And the worst part is that was shot in very rural Quebec, not in Tennessee! And the even worst part? I've actually been to one of those contests before, and know exactly where that was shot...

«Allez! Allez! Allez!»

I can just picture it now.. A guy in a cowboy hat holding a Kronenbourg 1664 cheering on his favorite Trucker.

Wow, I wasn't aware there were rednecks in Canada...let alone the French part of Canada. But that makes it even funnier.

The whole northeast-ish part of the Province is basically redneck land... except instead of pickup trucks they've got snowmobiles and ATV's.

That kind of thing happends here alot with superduty diesel pickup trucks. I've seen some mean F250's and Dodge Rams put up some killer ¼mi times considering the weight of the vehicle.
