Well, I love the idea of free running on any track.
Anyways, I 've heard from PSM, and IGn that the graffiti on the track are in the REAL places they are on the real course. The graffiti is also the SAME design. Talk about realisitic.
Anyways, 1 idea I'd like to see I got from PGR2. Doing a Hot Lap in single player and uploading it to a leader board on the internet.

Why has PD not included any 3D track side spectators or marshals on the Nurb.....Surely if your racing their then there would be spectators........you know.....race.....people come! The Nurb in Amar's vid looks abit dead (well I suppose it usually is!) but it shouldnt be when your doing a race........more people on the Nurb please !

Well, it wasn't the final version, you know. I'm sure we'll get all the bells-and-whistles when the final version comes.

I prefer it to be without spectators. That's only a waste of graphic memory imo. And, if they have to be there, let them please not yell as in GT3 :yuck:

The last time I saw 100.000 spectators for a test drive in a VW Lupo was in a video game, and it didn't look very realistic :dopey:

If it's a dedicated motorsports faciility, then why the road signs?
I'm not sure what "road signs" you are talking about, but if you mean the signs that name the corners, and some recommended speed limit signs, those are for the public track days, they are in no way road signs.

Yep.......the signs only apply to cars taking a track day and also to the people that live around the areas.......like pedestrian crossings signs.....and other stuff

..yeah there´s!!!....the NN in GT4 is a 1:1 repleica of the real Ring that´s why ur times (for example with the M3 GTR,Atra DTM,Audi TT-R,...)will be the same as in reality!:)
i don´t know the M3 GTR´s times at Nürb but i think they were about 8:40 or 8:50(?)
...but u can´t compare the Nürburging fro the 24hour race with the track in GT4!!!!
the ring in GT4 is ONLY THE NORDSCHLEIFE( what means that it´s without the F1 GP part!!!)
....so it´s the part of the longest track in the world which is in the FOREST!!
...i would LOVE to race on the "COMPLETE NÜRBURGRING RACETRACK(INCLUDING THE F1 GRAN PRIX PART)"!!!

HOPE IT IS IN GT4!!!

If PD has gone to all the trouble to model the grand prix track that you can see at the end of the ring's lap (buildings and all)......I really can't see why it can't be included...........I also hope that it is included !!!!

...yeah and then there´s only one thing to make me(and hopefully all of u guys!)
being one of the happiest man on earth:
an "ENDURANCE RACE AT NÜRBURGRING(COMPLETE-->WITH F1 GP TRACK!)ABOUT SOME HOURS(2OR MAXIMUM 4HOURS!) AND WITH CHANGING WEATHER(DAY/AFTERNOON/NIGHT)!!!!!:):):)

Yeah, however the problem is that if you take PGR2 for the XBOX as an example, it has the Nordschleife, and the F1 track modelled, but you can't drive on the F1 track, you can only see it, so who knows if this is the same approach that PD has taken (although since PGR2 is a Microsoft product, and GT4 is a Sony product, who owns the F1 rights until 2006, the F1 layout may infact be included) :)

I really doubt the chalk graffiti will be in the game.

Example of the graffitti in the game:

Right now Sony owns the rights to the F1 tracks, thats why all the offical games are playstation 2 exclusive. So they could model it if they wanted to but they may end up competeing against their own games......F1 04. If GT4 has Nurburgring and monte carlo as well as F1 cars (unbranded) it is already starting to maybe take customers away from the other game. I think PD should do it becuse no track looks as good on any other game apart from GT4!

And here's another point........If Sony own the right to F1 why don't they have the licenced F1 cars in???......Why cant they have Mclarens, Toyotas, Hondas' Jaguars.....F1 cars!...........but again, they are probably told not to eitther wise no other racing game on the PS2 wouls sell!!

To the above post:...........yes they will im sure!!!!!

I think you'll find that the Isle of Man TT circuit is the longest/longer 'still used' racing circuit in the world at 37.7 miles long

Well sorry but you are wrong there. There is a more than 700 mile long Track (I believe in Italy) That is still being use for Classic car rallies.

Your talking about the mille miglia (I dont know if that is spelled right) Not really a track, They just close down a whole bunch of roads. They stopped "racing" on it years ago, now they are allowed to go as fast as they want but their are no prizes involved. Only period cars allowed in though.

I was talking about the road signs seen in posts 73 and 75 of this thread here...https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=46215&page=1&pp=100
Those signs, like I said, are for the public track days, not sanctioned racing events. The "60" sign on the final straight is for the public because on track days, they have the end of the straight away closes down and you have to slow down to a safe speed and go through the pits to the right. The reason they do this is because they don't want some "amateur" in the Porsche going down the straight away at 300 km/h and not knowing what to do, so as a safety precaution, you have to go slowly through the pit lane and then back onto the straight away.

I wonder if they will include the

"Takashi Ohi
!!!!!!!Do not Drink Toooooo Much!!!"

In the final version.

Takashi Ohi is a japanese racing driver, and therefore, that grafitty is not an internal PD joke, as someone has mentioned before.

T. Ohi has raced in japanese Formula 3, and has been a Best Motoring reviewer until around 1996. After many years without appearing in the Best Motoring videos, he has returned on 2004.

He is an excellent driver and also a drift specialist. I have many videos where he drifts Ferraris, Porsches, etc.

He usually did the gymkana and wet skidpad tests for Best Motoring.

I do not know about his drinking habits tho...

Here we go again.., it has everything to do with the licence, i think.
SCEE owns the F104 licence so that doesnt mean that SCEJ/PD can use it as well!
The licence issue is very complicated at times, it was the same with the Diablo in GT3, some licence can only be used in a specific region EU,US, Asia, or even a country. It depends on the licence contract.

Of course its not wise to have F1 04 cars tracks in GT4 as well, so therefore SCEE doesnt sell that to PD, SCEJ

Mmmm.. so probably he maybe did testing work for PD.

Maybe that PD has made some bonus game where you can see the effects of drinking tooo much, and Ohi did the Testing for that mode. :) :dopey:

Maybe you are right about him doing some testing for GT4. Or maybe the GT4 team or someone actually wrote that grafitty on the track...

Talking about real race drivers and GT4 testing, does anyone know who was the Nissan Top test driver to whom KY was referring when he talked about the 5 second difference for the lap around Nürburgring? Was it Dirk Shoysman? Dirk did the Nürburgring testing for Nissan´s R32, 33 and 34 GTRs. He is one of the drivers of the FALKEN GTR team that appeared on Nürburgring´s 24 hour race. He broke the production car lap record on Nürburgring with the R33 GTR (7min58sec). Considering the actual weight of the car (around 1550kg) and officially declared power (280ps), it is evident that the car he used was not stock, or maybe the declared power is very conservative. All JDM cars are factory limited to 280ps and 180km/h.

All JDM cars are factory limited to 280ps and 180km/h.
This is a common misconception. The most that Japanese auto makers can advertise is 280 PS, that doesn't mean that the engines don't actually produce more than that (take the R34 Skyline for example, which is often dynoed bone stock at well over 300 hp). Also, about the speed limit, that is also false, most auto makers (even German) limit their cars top speed at 250 km/h (155 mph) not 180 km/h, which can be attained in a bone stock Civic. Trust me, an NSX, Skyline, or RX-7 can go MUCH faster than 180 km/h, stock.

Sorry to disagree, but all JDM cars are indeed "limited" to 180 km/h. Even the NSX, GTR, etc. That is also why all JDM vehicles have their speedos reading only up to 180km/h.

Of course, both the NSX and GTR will do much more if delimited. You don´t have to be a genious to figure that out...

For your info, the main reason why Best Motoring tests all cars on the Tsukuba track is because it is a short and slow track, and therefore, JDM cars do not reach their 180km/h limiter. When they test the cars on a faster track (Suzuka/Fuji) or do a top speed attack, they always indicate that the cars have been delimeted for testing purposes.

It is true that some JDM cars make more power than the official figures indicate. The fact that a 280ps/1550kg GTR does a lap around the Nürburgring in less than 8 minutes clearly proves it.

JDM press cars usually make much more power than dealer available ones too. That is also why Best Motoring sometimes buys normal dealer cars to find our the real performance (Press cars supplied by manufacturers usually perform much better).

Majarvis
So, if all JDM cars are limited to 180 km/h, then, what's this?
http://www.honda.co.jp/auto-lineup/nsx/interior/r-meter/index.html

You should know that the NSX-R is a very special track version of the NSX. Being a track version, they will usually be delimited by their owners. That should explain the use of a complete speedo scale. NISMO offers a full scale speedo for the GTR also.

But that does not prove that JDM vehicles are not limited to 180km/h, or does it? They are indeed limited.

As we are discussing the NSX-R on a Nürburgring thread, let´s tie both together with this incar video of Motoharu Kurosawa doing a 7min56sec lap around the Nürburgring with the NSX-R. I recon that they cheated a bit, ´cause the counter stops quite a bit earlier than the starting point... :grumpy: 👎 Anyhow, it is a remarkable lap time for a 280ps car.

http://www.racingflix.com/getvideo.asp?v=463&p=3

Majarvis : you will be able to see the full scale speedo reaching almost 260km/h down the back straight!! 👍

PS : You will have to register to download it, and the download rates are terrible, but it is worth the wait. Footage corresponds to BEST MOTORING SPECIAL VIDEO VOL. 55.

I would like to see the need to come into the pits in order to make adjustments to the setup of your car, rather then exiting the race mid lap to make adjustments, thus making your car just disappear from the track.

Imagine developing your project touring car, running test laps and coming in to the pits to make adjustments, while others are doing the same thing - only with a wide range of cars being prepared for different forms of championships.

This is an excellent idea. I would find this very enjoyable if it could be done properly. I'm assuming there'd be some sort of car limitation on the track at a time, which would indicated a need for a time limit per vehicle as well. Can't have 300 cars on a track, and you can't have some ass sitting on the side of the track watching people for hours either.

Can't have 300 cars on a track

In real life, you can. 220 cars at the last 24 hours race. 40 takeovers each lap for the fast cars after a few hours. Online on PS2 maybe 10 cars because of the code.

I was under the impression all the 'limitations' in Japan with respect to car production were just 'Gentlemen's Agreements' between manufacturers and not actually mandated.
