Here we go again.., it has everything to do with the licence, i think. SCEE owns the F104 licence so that doesnt mean that SCEJ/PD can use it as well! The licence issue is very complicated at times, it was the same with the Diablo in GT3, some licence can only be used in a specific region EU,US, Asia, or even a country. It depends on the licence contract. Of course its not wise to have F1 04 cars tracks in GT4 as well, so therefore SCEE doesnt sell that to PD, SCEJ
OK... just to help clear stuff up... SCEE would be a division of SCEI (Sony Computer Entertainment Inc./Japan) which owns SCEE (Europe/Australia), SCEA (North America), Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong Limited, Sony Computer Entertainment Korea Inc, and any others i'm missing.

SCEE doesn't own the license... they may have negoitated it on behalf of SCEI, but SCEI is granted the license to use for it's subsidiaries to release games. So the F1 license is for the Playstation gaming platform, not just for PAL playstation.

As far as the Diablo goes, the reason it wasn't in all versions of GT3 was that the license for the car was from JTGC directly and the simplified version is that the JTGC is able to license any cars in it's series for use in Japan only. So, that's why it's in the Japanese version of GT3. To license the car outside of that region JTGC and the manufacturer would have to give permission... since Lambo's license was not available, no lambo outside Japan.

Finally, i don't see the reason that people don't want F1 components in GT, and there is no logic to excluding F1 tracks/cars from GT from Sony's or PD's perspective. PD is actually owned by Sony... in fact Kaz is a SCEI executive... Kaz originally worked @ SCEI and it was the success of GT1 that spawned PD as a separate company. So in fact, using the F1 license for GT is Sony using their license for a Sony game. In doesn't detract from Sony's game sales, b/c sales of GT are Sony game sales (not some other manufacturer/publisher).

confusing i know... best way to think about PD/Sony's relationship is that they are one in the same (very simplified, but easiest).

Yeah he started PD just so that he could concentrate on GT. I believe PD is more owned by Sony. Anyways even if it was seperate the game needs Sony Hardware so sony profits anyways.

...i hope in GT4 will be the F1 nürburgring Gran Prix track, too cuz i want to drive the complete Nürburgring track (inculding Nordschleief and F1 GP!)!!
...so u could drive as the racedrivers in reality do every year---the NN 24 hour race, what a amzing race with sooo many cars(about 220 in this year!:))

look here in these attachments u can see a part of the F1 GP track (the start-finish-line)and i think when the guys of PD put this part so beautiful in the game, they should put the whole F1 track and thus with the nordschleife the longest track on earth!! :dopey:

I think when people are saying it'll detract from sales, it's not because money for GT4 doesn't mean money for Sony, it's because money for GT4 and Formula 1 '04 means more money for Sony.

I hadn't thought of it that way

It should be very interesting to see the new Nurburgring courses unfold, since I have not seen or heard anything of what has been going on, but that my kind since I really want to expect the unexpected, if it has good results. :sly:

We may get the unexpected. Look at GT3. We got F1 cars, and no was expecting them.

That is true. As long as suprises change for the better, and so far for the most part it has, than you can count me into anything that happens from now throught GT4's release, so on, and so forth with GT's future releases as well.;)

doupt it.But that would be awsome.Imagin shcumis ferrari versus the gt1 or something like that. This is a bit of topic but does anybody know of any pics the GT1 s2000 of gt2.That thing was COOL.

I was under the impression all the 'limitations' in Japan with respect to car production were just 'Gentlemen's Agreements' between manufacturers and not actually mandated.

The HP limit is a 'Gentleman's Agreements' and as such is frequently ignored. The top speed limit of 180 kph for cars sold in the Japanese domestic market is however a legal requirement. A friend of mine does some work for a company that imports JDM cars into the UK and they all require de-limiting.

JDM imports into the UK are very popular as very little needs to be done to them; de-limit, speedo change (KPH to MPH) and fitting of rear fog lights.

It is usually commented that both the R33 and R34 Skylines have in fact around 350hp, instead of the officially declared 280hp. That is why they can lap the Nürburgring in a little over 8 minutes.

I was watching a documenterary on the ''japenese pocket rockets'' and they said that there was something at the front of the engine-bay that you could disconect like a governer i supose, that gave the car the intended orriginal horsepower of 375-400!
