I detest every second I spend on this track. Am I alone?

Which leads me to my plea, help me see the light, what am I doing wrong?

I've been driving this thing since GT4 and I still have no idea where anything is, the track is really narrow, it's filled with corners that just throw me onto the grass and then it's all over. I spend more time crashing than I do in control, yet I managed to get all silvers in all of the special events for it.

I learned my way around Cape Ring (all versions) in about 5 laps. Monza took 3 laps to get down, but I've done hundreds of laps of the Nurburgring and I have no idea what I'm doing.

I'm thinking of taking a 100hp car around it until I can do a few laps without crashing then changing to one with 50 hp more. See if that helps.

I have only played this track on GT5, about 5 times, I know every corner.

Also, yes, you are doing something wrong. In my opiniom its the best track ever.

Do this if its THAT hard. I used a Jaguar S Class R to try it out. After about 4 laps, I knew it.

I hate this track as well.

I have mastered all the tracks in GT 5 but I spend more time sliding around in the grass than I do on the track on this one.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

its all about brake control, theres one corner in particular where the game does not believe you should brake and you have to, at the end of section 1 before the hairpin.

But get a JGTC or Super GT car, racing med, and just drive. Dont try and go 100% just drive it how you want. Its the thrill of going form a long stright to two hairpins or being thrown into a chicane at speed.

And its honestly not that narrow for me... I can overtake on any section with no trouble.

1) Do the AMG Acadamy event.
2) Do it until you can run the sectors cleanly in the SLS.
3) Take what you learned to heart and 'stitch' the sectors together.
4) If necessary, turn the driving line on, until you can get some consistent clean laps in and turn it off afterwards.
5) Rinse and repeat...

I used to think this way as well. Hit the track with a Minicooper or a Fiat on racing tire, enable heavy mechanical damage so you have something to fear, turn the driving line off, turn the hud off, and do three or four consecutive laps. Try to beat your ghost in each lap.

Nurburgring is one of the best tracks! its a skill, control track for sure. It takes time to learn, and it has its quirks. I actually am a Bimmer lover so I think my cars and their tunes have an affinity for this track! I swear my M3 loves Nurburgring and is easier to drive there.

It just feels like a random heap of corners landed in Germany and people started driving on them.

With other tracks I can feel the flow and how one corner relates to the next. Nurburgring just feels random, it's like we are speaking different languages. I just know at some point it will all click, but it's like I'm missing something.

You really need to learn the track well to appreciate it. I recommend getting in a car that you find easy to drive, and start running laps. You'll get it eventually.

I learned to drive Norschleife on Enthusia. Its split up in 5-7 sectors or something. Then I drove sector 1 over and over, then 2, then 3 e.t.c. So now when I drive it I see it like driving multiple tracks after each other. I mean it's like driving Laguna Seca, when you pass the finish line it becomes Deep Forest Raceway and then Grand Valley speedway and lastly Trial Mountain. That track would probably be no problem to memorize.

Best thing to do then. AMG Challenge! :)

I had the exact same issues when I first got the game, I use a DFGT and have worked up to using my Mazda 787b stealth flat out with a lap time just over 6 minutes. You just need to take your time and don't try to hard to go too fast too soon. Hang in there because it has turned out to be the only real reason I put the game on now, just love that track :)

Are you driving with aids? If you have a controller, you need to drive with the ABS set 1 and everything else off, including the HUD. You need to feel which parts of the track really challenge your vehicle, which parts you can really throttle it. And dont forget, the mailboxes all over the place are great braking indicators.

Step 1: Take a slow car to the 'ring
Step 2: Do a couple of laps until its torture because you want to go faster.
Step 3: Take a slightly faster car to the 'ring
Step 4: Repeat steps 2-4

Try driving within yourself.

I notice most people over drive every car they get into. Take it slow, as slow as you can to stay in control then pick up the pace as time moves on. I know not everybody wants to do that but it helps I promise.

I hated it too, but in GT5 with wheel i like it. Best for learning it is the AMG academy and polo cup, which is better and more fun. On DS3 i still don't like it too much but with wheel, it's different kind of experience.

Sorry but there is no way you really "know" the ring after four laps in one car. Not even close.

I too am a recent convert after years of cursing it in various games.

The problem with the ring is that it's deceiving; it's much narrower than it looks, and it sets you up for failure with long high speed sections that feed into tight turns. Add to that the corners that immediately follow elevation changes and the off-camber areas, and it's a nightmare until you tame it.

But once you do, it's a blast!

4 laps and you learnt the Ring,   No, in four laps you may well know which corner comes after the last one but to master it so that you can drive upto and over the limit it takes "hundreds" if not more.

You should know it very well indeed if you have done "hundreds" of laps.

Either you haven't done hundreds of laps or you can't drive, sorry to sound harsh. I can do repeated laps and get them with a few tenths each time.

Yes the Ring takes time and is a tricky circuit to master but once it all comes together it's the most fantastic series of corners in the whole game and the most satisfying to get right.

Keep trying and rather than looking to master the whole track in one go break it down into sections. Oh and you didn't state what car you using to drive round in, pick something sensible, BMW M3 is a good starter car on sports soft tyres.

Should have mentioned, I drive with a wheel, everything off (ABS=1). I drive Street Cars on whatever tyres PD decided they should have, so usually Sport Hard, but I'll put Sport Soft on the crazy 500hp+ RWD cars if they try to kill me too often.

It the Green Hell. Just do the AMG event and you should be fine within a matter of hours. Repeating each sector one by one to get gold should help a lot.

This track is awesome.

Best track in the game for sure. I love the ring in almost anything though the X1 is a bit intense. My favorite is probably the Mercedes CLK Touring car. Such a pleasure to drive that car around the ring.

This is definitely easier said than done if you're using the gamepad. I'm definitely doing the Lupo challenge and the AMG special events again when my wheel arrives!

Do the Lupo event. I disliked this track until the Lupo event. The lupo handles well and goes well but not well enough to end up in the grass on every blind corner after a crest.

My fav track. I live on it with my RM lotus elise. Buy one! As overs have said its narrow you cant drive flat out in alot of cars. You need to be expecting the next couple of corners... when you dont and it goes wrong it really goes wrong

Your completely missing the point here, it's no wonder your getting thrown off a track your trying to learn if your charging round in 500+ "crazy" cars.

Cool it down a bit and take a nice neutral handling Rwd car with modest power and LEARN THE TRACK first. Once you've done this, then increase the hp and begin to learn how to drive it faster.

As they say in order to run you need to learn how to walk.

I've posted a video lap I did in an Alfa Romeo 8c with modest power 333bhp per tonne and a lap of the ring, sports soft tyres and done in 7 minutes 18 seconds.

On a few occasions i'm braking over the limit but it's all controllable, watch it anyway as it will show you the lines and where to brake.

You will enjoy it more once you get it all right.

lol
I love this track. It is very well modeled minus the cardboard trees. Every corner needs a different approach. In some corner you really have to "Dive the nose in" the corner.
Seems you are not that good of a driver if you have raced it so often. Keep trying.

I'm trying to figure out how many laps I've done in GT4 and 5 combined, it has to be 100+

I got all silvers in the special events, so there must be some knowledge in me.

Okay sensible car, driving line on. M3 doesn't sound very sensible to me? Is that a good choice?

In light of "you can't drive" comments. All the other tracks I can kill, this one for whatever reason will not click.

I'm just pulling your leg about the can't drive comments.

The Ring "does" take sometime to learn well, if you want a car that is very safe to drive buy a Nissan Skyline R35 GTR, I know it has quite a bit of power but it is very stable and very easy to drive and again run it on sports soft tyres, I can get this round in 7 mins 5 secs without too much trouble, it's very forgiving.
