Course: Trial Mountain
Car: Falken Skyline ( Falken sounds so much like another word that starts with F :p )
Tires: Racing
Transmission: MT
Aids: Off
Time: 1:28.4xx ( forgot decimals )
Controller: DS2

ok, my nurburring lap, setup as follows:

Driving Force Pro
Street tyres
Manual tranny
ASM OFF
Skyline GT-R V - Spec II Nur '02
time: 8'10.769 *updated*
RX7 = 8'42.118 (went off the track on this one, but didn't lose much momentum cause it was downhill and was able to go back on fast)
i should've shifted down in a corner to gain acceleration, other than that my lap was pretty good. but i'm sure i can be faster, and i'm sure it won't take long for someone to completley shatter my laptime.

Falken Skyline:
7'01.276 *updated*

Getting closer to sub 7 minutes time, i can beat my own time up untill the third checkpoint, by then either i screw up, or i wasn't beating my time on that lap to begin with. i've been 2 secs faster up till the third check point, and i know that i have potential to shave 2 more... so i'm guessing that if i drive with out any mistakes on my driving line, i can get around 6'57.xxx.
i don't see any more way to shave time below that, at least not with my driving line.

btw guys, since it's still wideley belived that tyre type isn't actually compund type (except maybe racing tyre), but instead it's an aid, it's recommended you use only street tyre (racing is fine though). for time attacks, because if we're right, tyre type just represents a difficulty level, meaning, only "street tyre" is simulation mode. evrything else isn't realistic.

twboy- check the 'about the japanese demo' thread towards the end.

tiptop- 7:13?! Great job. You aren't riding any walls or cutting any corners are you?

No wall riding here I like to play fair and square. I just hooked up a semi decent lap, but there is more time to find as I was a bit clumsy on a couple of corners. :)

Don't worry RPM, I got a 7'12 on my opening lap against the AI, and that was far from perfect, there's lots of time in there. ;) I think we'll get close to a 6 here.

New time :)

I was on a steaming lap but the bumps caught me out on the Sprunghugel, and I was all over the road. I was going crazy with the wheel trying to regain control. Must've lost 2-3 seconds in that little drama. :yuck:

I'm not worthy. Holy crap you guys are good. Maybe once I learn all the turns as well as I've learned the first third I'll get closer to your times. I also have been using the DS, I'll pull out the DFP later and get some serious lapping going.

lots of fun!

just wondering
do anyone of u have the same feeling as me..when using regular controller.. is hard to keep the car straight

anyone have this problem?? sepecially on nurbuering

it's a known fact that the DS2 is far more forgiving than a steering wheel, cause PD dumbed down the controls to make it playable on it. however, if you're reffering to the falken slyline, then yes, it's hard to keep it straight sometimes due to the bumps, nothing a little speed reducing or accelerator tapping won't handle though.

guys, if you really want to get enjoyment out of this, i strongly suggest you INVEST on a driving force or, even better a driving force pro (pedals will start giving you problems on the DFP though, i tried to fix mine, and succeded to some degree, but in the end i decided to get some hardcore ECCI pedals that cost and arm and a leg.) when i say invest i mean it, it's endless enjoyment out of GT this way, and it's the way it's meant to be played, you won't regret the hefty investment.

Do these ECCI pedals plug right in to the DFP or is some adaptor or modification needed?

Edit: Nevermind, found the website. Plugs right in to DFP! Hard to find prices on this site, are those pedals $349US?

yep, add about 70+ bucks for pressure brake system (awsome, that's the one thing lacking from the crappy pedals, and adds an incredible ammount of realism, just like a real car, the brake becomes pressure sensitive.). and about 30 for shipping (not sure) cause these things are HEAVY.

basicly the pedals are built to outlast your feet, pretty well built, most people consider this overkill, but when you're gonna spend as much time as i am playing GT4, it's defenetly worth it.

basicly the problem with the DFP pedals is that overtime, there will be wear in the accelerator pedal, and that wear will cause the pots to move a bit, and when that happens in the middle of a race the accelerator will lose calibration, not good, cause even if you step on it the accelerator will only report about 70% to the game, so basicly, it sucks and i hope logitech fixes this (this is a known issue in the DFP and the momo racing wheel from logitech also).

there's a fix for it, it's not hard to do, but if you don't do it right the first time, you'll have to open up your peldas again later on.. but anyway, i don't care about that anymore, the difference in the pedals quality is huge, those ECCI like you said, just plug right into the DFP and no mods are required.
the Driving force pro is IMO the best wheel available in the market when it comes to price / performance. too bad the pedals aren't up to par.

btw, check page 2 for my nurburgring times ;-)

Where did you purchase your pedals from as I see ECCI does not sell to retail anymore, just commercial.

Oh, and nice lap times. Sheesh...

mine are black, they only have red in stock right now (when i got them they only had black) hopefully when i decide to get a clutch for them (it connects to a PC trough USB by itself, just the clutch) i can find a black one to match the pedals, too bad it wouldn't work with GT4.

back from the ring, here my time:

Falken Skyline
ASM: off
manual shifting
Driving Dorce Pro

6´53.070

There´s still room for better time, maybe a 6´50.xxx but that will be hard.

I record that lap 3 times with my digicam, so I got onboard, 2. outsideview and the TV view, each file got around 150mb, but it´s nice to look.

So keep on trying

Wow, could you please try to upload those videos somewhere? Would love to see that. And am sure many more would.. that laptime is amazing.

I'm gonna have my no time limit version hopefully coming Tuesday. But am sure I won't be anywhere near that for a while..

those pedals are INSANE... any retailers in the UK? if the price isnt rediculously inflated (as is the norm here) then i might grab some at the same time as gt4 arrives over here.

there's no way to do even a quarter of a lap unless the time limit is removed, just so you know, and secondly on time attacks you start from waaay behind the starting line, so it doesn't matter if it's the first lap or not ^^
