Yeah, it's definatly a reality check when you come here thinking you're a great driver. I know I got one when I came here from another, much smaller, GT site. Suddenly you realize that you're just another average driver in the world of Gran Turismo. Running in the series here will make you a better driver for sure. I ran the Amemiya RX7 last season and loved it, ran the Altezza in season one and loved it also. Haven't decided what car to run this season, it's nice to run a car you're very used to, but learning a new car has it's perks also.
Anyway, welcome to the JGTC, there's a lot of great competition here and a great bunch of drivers.
God!
If I think back to Wk2 of the WRS when I first started on GTP..........
I thought I was king-d;ck, I could kick the arse out of all my mates by miles, no-one local could beat me! (Da Da Da Da! Der Daa Da! Can't touch this!)
Then, I joined the best GT4 community in the world, and found out how wrong I was!
I started out as a bottom of the heap, dead-last D3 driver in the WRS, and felt totally discouraged.
A year (and more) of racing WRS and a season of JGTC has taught me not only how to drive, but also what kind of racing I am good at.
I am now a middle-of-the-road D2 hot-lapper (WRS), and a pretty damn good endurance racer (JGTC,DTM).
As Andy says, Running with us guys will improve your skills and make you ultimately faster.
But above all else, don't feel pressured into trying to hard or feeling that you must get a victory at any cost!
Just build you skills, learn from your mistakes, and above all be patient!
The wins will come, you will improve, get better, get faster, get smoother.
