Oh my GOD GT4 does not work in my PS2! Help!!!!

WTF!?!?!? ok... I just got my GT4 JDM copy here in the usa... I used the swap magic and slide card and when I press x... nothing happens... it just freezes up!!! My GT4 Prologue, and and another JDM burned game work just fine what the hell!!! I paid like $80 and have been eagerly awaiting it's arrival only to be royally screwed! please someone tell me you have the answer here... what do I do?

from wut I heard from a person who sells imports, even if u have a direct load mod it might not work. The laser adjustment might not be correct

the swap mod, i heard from the same person--> doesn't work with dual layer at all

keep in mind that prologue is much smaller and doesn't need a Dual layer DVD

you got to be kidding me man..... freaking hell.... I have been browsing these forums for awhile now and never read anything about this... oh man I'm absolutely devestated.
 
i think the only way it might work is if u get it modded correctly. im still waiting to get my copy copy bc the ppl are still trying to figure out how to do it so it will work with their chips.

next option. get a Japanese PS2.


last resort. wait for North American release :nervous:
 
I think you best bet is to sell the version you bought...you could probably make a tidy profit having it in a country that doesnt at the moment..... ;)

......then just wait for the proper release.....

These chips and methods or making the imports work are not full proof unfortunately :guilty:

Im still banking on the fact that my chipped Japanese PS2 will play PAL GT4......so fingers crossed.....
 
Which brings me all the way to Reason #1 why I'm content to wait for the American version.... No having to fight tooth and nail with my PS2 to run the game. :)

GT5 will be released about 2 years after PS3 hyperslim v2.1 ultra platinum neo devastator edition is out

We don't know yet. With your GT4, you can sell the game in USA (for some people who don't wants to wait).

I saw a recent GT4 auction on ebay, from japan, for 89.99
 
yup, was in the same situation as you, but i found out before i got my GT4, so i had this guy chip it for me.....get the Matrix infinity chip or the DSM4 Pro chip, works great

You obviously can't read then. This has been covered at least 10-15 times in the past 2 weeks on this message board alone.

Swap Discs won't load GT4 (DVD9 - dual layer DVD)...

Homework before purchasing. Don't complain, it wasn't made to be used in the way you are using it. You can't expect your method to work with new types of discs.

That's what I did last year... changed my PS2's laser unit (old one was worn out) and installed a Matrix Infinity modchip... excellent piece of hardware!

Heh, I ordered my copy of Gran Turismo 4 (Japanese version. Does it come with a bunch if stuff, like a driving glove etc.? or was that a limited version? Just a tad curious after slapping down $75).

I won't be having those kinds of problems as I ordered the Japanese version of the Winter Racing Editon PS2 that came with GT4: Prologue over a year ago. Man that was a great deal. Cost the same as a standard PS2, but it came with GT4: P. Plus, it's "ceramic white" instead of the standard black.



Wonder if it'll be worhtwhile investing in a network adapter to play GT4 online with Xlink....

Forgot to add that altough I didn't get all golds, I played the hell out of GT4: P, enough so to have warranted paying $30 bucks for, even though I didn't have to.

Fun point of interest: Fuji Speedway and the little hill part, launching my car into the air. (In driver view it feels high, in replay it looks to be at least a meter off the grounb) (hopefully this will induce sparks since the car practically bottoms out)

It's your mod chip. You need one that recognises dual layer DVDs. There's nothing you can do except change the mod chip or get a Japanese machine. Proloque works because it's not DVD9. It's so annoying i know.

Kinda hard for his problem to be mod chip related when he's not using a mod chip. Swapmagic 3.0ish is what he's using, you put a disk in your PS2 and it reconises that as the proper format, then you are prompted to insert your import/burned disk to play it. Basically the system tricks the PS2 into thinking a normal disk is in the tray when in reality there is an import or a burned disk in there. Very easy setup to use, but bad for dual layered games since it doesnt support them.

pm sent, it does, i just recently installed a matrix infinity chip on my PS2, and it works great.....i pmed you david's e-mail address, contact him...tell him franco referred you....
