I just started trying out drifting this weekend.

Style drifting, that is. Been using drift techniques in OLR for some time.

But had to try out this other kind of drifting...no vids yet, but having a good time.

Needless to say, I've been driving in r/l longer than most of you have been converting oxygen to carbon dioxide :p

NQ = 46
Hmmm.. Ahhh... Hrphmm... Tired of kicking everyone's butt at OLR? :D

Good to see you giving it a run.

Catch-my-Drift?
lol! Thought I was alone on the hill :sly: So come now Der Alta... reveal your secret... early 30's i presume?

NoQuarter... think you hold the record there! Nice :) Good to see no age-limit to this beautiful art 👍
You are correct. I'll make my own presumption... I'm 4 months older than you? I'm 32 in about a month.

Older indeed... :) 5 months to be exact... suddenly I feel more at home! :sly:

We are almost at that inevitable phrase (which I try to avoid with a passion! :)) which states... "..still young at heart" lol! Once you get there.. boy oh boy... that's all I'm saying... :scared:

While I consider myself simply a "driver" (in a videogame, the GT series only, I don't play any othe video games)...and prefer (grip) racing I do use drfit technique in my racing, when I did OLR and now when I am racing just for fun. I can also appreciate a skilled style drifter and have even been known to take one of my RUFs out just to drift for fun (style drift I suppose).

In real life I do little with cars other than drool over Porsches, VWs, RUFs and selected Italian cars. I know almost nothing about cars in real life actually, other than where the gas goes etc (sad I know). I have also been an hardcore F1 fan for years and years. So I know alot about race technique and theory and know alot about the GT series and what it takes to be fast in the GT video games....but interestingly enough alot of my GT knowledge has spilled over and made me look into track days and the SCCA, buying a "track" car (mini or miata) and going to the track in real life (still gotta convince the wife about this one...spending $40k+ on a "track" car with tires and parts, etc as opposed to $50 on a GT video game is a big change...hahaha)

I am 30.

I hate to be a jerk here. But why would you want to learn zero countersteer with FR's? :yuck: That means you'll have no angle. I'm all about no countersteer for AWD, but with FR it simply makes no sense.

My bad. ...back to topic....I believe this issue is talked about in another very recent thread though.

to be able to use Zero Countersteer with a FR car is basically power sliding the car. It think in my opinion useing counterdsteer zero should only be left to the AWD drifters.

I wonder if people drift with motorcylces....crazy dangerous....

I don't think there is style drifting with motorcycles (yet!)...but watch almost any top end road bike race (superbikes or MotoGP) and you will see those guys sliding the back ends into and out of a corner just like you would "race drift" with a car, most of the time it is even more obvious.

Valentino Rossi is a master of this. The way he can slide is bike not only into a corner but under another rider, when said ride left him only about 14", for a pass is amazing!

Of course, like rally driving, moto-cross riders whip the back end all around.

They do.
It's called Speedway or something else.

Ah yes...forgot about that....flat track racing in the US and I think Pole racing in Europe (though i could be wrong)....still it is racing, not for style....

picture dirt track racing on bikes.

Whats Pole racing?

Same thing as dirt short track racing on motorcycles here in the USA. Not sure if the name is right but I know they call it another name than flat track racing.

It is "drift-like" style of motorcycle racing.

As the three posts above mine explained already...
