That is a pretty big valve I must say, hell engine parts would be a cool desk decoration.

This is going to sound dumb...but what exactly is an engine valve, and how big are the ones in most cars?

Who the hell would pay $10 for that? Just go to a junkyard if you want a grimey paperweight.

Engine valve as in exhaust and intake valves. Thirty-two valve V8, 24 valve V6, etc.

I did not intend that to be demeaning, so please don't take it that way. :)

That is quite large, must have come from a semi truck engine or an airplane engine.

Screw that! I have a piston from a Top Fuel dragster. I aquired it last year at the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, along with a conecting rod. That rod is a work of art, all shiny and enourmous. No idea what it's made of, not aluminum because of its weight, not steel, because its too light and wouldn't work in a Top Fuel motor amyway. It's some alloy, and it weights about 3 lbs. I'd say it's about 10 inches long. Anyway, my friend has that and I have the piston, which once created around 1000 horses. It's 1 of 8 in an 8.2L engine, it has an anodized aluminum skirt (It's green, and my dad's a machinist, so he could tell), a steel top that's about 1/2 inch thick, and a nice JE Pistons stamp inside. I also have a royally bent intake valve from a Pro Stock engine. Good stuff.

Anyway, I'm guessing that valve came from a big deisel, especially since it looks like it would open far.

Does this give me the go-ahead to start a thread every time I see something "interesting" on eBay?

I wouldn't use that butt-ugly piece of scrap metal for a paperweight! Go to a junkyard and get something more interesting to look at.

I've got the old piston from my TTR-250 as a paperweight. Last year I managed to damage the engine, and it had to be bored out bigger, so I kept the pistonhead.

I have my personally damaged piston as a paper weight.. somewhere..... actually I lost it.

I don't know why anyone would pay for an old used valve, I may have some old used parts to sell then. :)

I've always said this, but it seems fairly appropriate here.

People from Birmingham will buy anything.

Edit: GTP IS SERIOUS BUSINESS

Ah, but I haven't bought it though have I? :p

Tee hee heee...... :sly:......tempted to make a bid!

People will buy the stupidest things off eBay, I think thats been proven time and time again.

I'm actually surprised this thing didn't sell, although for a paper weight its a lil expensive, especially compared to what the guy must have paid for it (i'm thinking $0).

I had an engine mount as a paperweight from an '06 IS 250, it's about half the weight of the usual Lexus engine mounts. It also has a smooth, mirror-like finish for the bolt hole.

Unfortunately, the powers-that-be don't like car parts lying on the service write-up desks, so it disappeared.

The question begs to be answered.... why? I've got a few useless valves sitting around somewhere... actually if anyone want's a corroded L28 cylinder head I’ll put it up for auction…. I think I might even have a spare rocker cover for the L28…

Those bits on Ebay are useless…. Why would you want some spare scrap metal sitting around. Why not gets some forgies for a paper weight… now that would look cool… if that’s what you want it for.

Actually this gets me thinking… who actually uses a paper weight? I don’t think I’ve ever even used one… ever….

Okay now that is cool 👍

Its because people that become Ebay obsessed eventually start to think that even the impossible can be sold on Ebay..... for some reason thwe internet suddenly makes it have value!

I've got a used pair of racing tires. The car crashed and the tire flew up into the crowd and I jumped up and caught it.

I'm kidding, I teefed it from behind a racing team trailer. :p

Anyone need 2 Yokohama A-005 250/590R15 tires (general racing slicks, they run them on mild Formula series to Le Mans cars)? They're good paperweights, and doing burnouts in your car.

(I had permission to help myself, don't get all FBI on me)
